Very powerful presentation. The specific examples really drive home the point that we need to ensure that every post-maintenance flight is taken very seriously. I have a post-maintenance flight planned for tomorrow as a matter of fact, and will be keeping this webinar in mind. Please keep coming with the helpful webinars!

This is a small point and a bit off topic but the depth charge setting recommendation was opposite to what was said here. The standard depth was 100 feet but the new recommendation was to set the charges much shallower. The reasoning was that this made the charges extremely effective in the case where the aircraft was seen too late and the submarine did not have time to dive any deeper.

Is there a list of recommendations for what a test flight looks like for various types of maintenance? Ex: spark plug replacement, magneto replacement, control surface replacement.

Do EVERY pre-flight like your life depended on it.

Classification of Cessna 340A static line referenced to the cabin pressure and not outside the plane?
    Thanks for the info.

I did both maintenance and flew for a couple of local 135 (charter) operations in light jets. I was always bothered by the lack of test flights, and said so. The first flights after any maintenance were revenue flights, either with passengers, or going to get them. My known dislike of this was not popular.
You are probably aware that airlines do the same thing.
Too expensive to do otherwise...it takes time...crews...fuel.
In GA, I encouraged a post maintenance flight. Sometimes heeded, sometimes not.
Some owners have the idea of "aircraft quality" stuck in their head, and should not. Be a skeptic, you'll live longer.

I got to say after that nightmare in the Bahamas I probably would have tried to limp my plane to Florida also what’s the worst that could happen I could kill myself very minimal danger to others but that’s just my opinion

This is spot on, I worked with mechanic for over a year He broke more s*** unintentionally of course then the airplanes broke themselves. It was hilarious my boss would send him out to due an inspection and he broke crap all the time. Stuff that was perfectly fine with no issues He would screw up. It was amazing thank God he now works at an A&P school instead of working on airplanes.
