Hey! The blue cable at the bottom of the case it's a direct connection from +input to +output, it's the big red connection from the +battery to +load in the schematic at min 4:48.
I never rnotice that..try double the wires, or use thicker ones..double gauge.I doubt the shunt itself is getting hot, the R is to low and you said you have 300A version..

I saw the shunt heating up to 90°C using thermal camera. Isn't your diy case heating up the wiring inside? That could be dangerous.
