You can contact carfax to get this fixed. It happens at dealerships sometimes when cars are stocked in to inventory incorrectly. If I recall, it’s not very hard to reverse. It’s just a carfax though, anyone basing value solely on a carfax doesn’t know what they’re doing. Seen plenty of cars with damage on them that were never reported to carfax.
@@m4rvinmartian thats assuming carfax would be willing to fix it. I had rocker panels replaced on my f150, and carfax listed it as having structural damage. Called carfax and they refused to remove it despite sending them the invoice from the shop that did the repair to show nothing remotely structural on a pickup truck was replaced. Cost me 5-8k for that problem when I sold the truck

A shop did that to me. Only off by 4000 or 6000 but it was definitely above what it actually had. Tried to sell it not realizing the mistake and had a potential buyer acting like I was running a scam with the car.
Had a shop overstate the miles once. Thankfully, it was only a few thousand so it had gone past the incorrect mileage by the next service so it just looked like I hadn't driven much for a few months.
Rob, your 98 has been pretty well documented by you for some time. people can easily find that your car has had its low miles for some time. but that does suck. i hope carfax can help you. my friend went thru a similar situation when he did emissions. they added a 0 to his miles so he had 10x more than before on report. i believe he got it fixed
This happened to my NSX. Do other things with this car that will create a CarFax paper trail -- oil change at the dealer, smog test / inspection with the state etc -- with the correct mileage then contact CarFax and let them know to correct the one that is off. That's the easiest way to prove that the one record with the crazy miles is a discrepancy.

This was my first car in high school…..a ‘94 Supra turbo. I sold it in 2001. Never should have sold it. I loved it. Good luck with the car….brings back fond memories.
My uncle had the interior of his 93 Supra replaced. He purchased the last factory replacement tan carpet available. It's a red targa top turbo auto. And it's totally stock, and it's pretty fast. Was driven daily from purchase until mid 2000's.
You've been contemplating selling this car for more than a few years now, I wonder in how many more years will we see a video where you report on actually finally letting it go.
It’s pretty easy to get a correction done to the Carfax but I’m not sure you’ll ever be able to remove the entry. A buddy of mine had an extra digit added to his mileage which jumps his Porsche from sub 50k to in the 400k. He had it fixed within weeks but after 2 years he gave up trying to remove the note in the Carfax that a mileage adjustment had been made on XX date.
Rob, I had a similar thing happen a few years ago with a DeLorean I owned. A smog shop added a zero to the mileage so instead of 14,332 they put 143,320. I talked to a friend in the arbitration department at Adesa Auto Auction and they told me to resmog the car with the correct mileage which I did. So you might want to have the shop recreate the invoice showing the accurate mileage. Then my friend in the arbitration department emailed both Carfax and AutoCheck with copies of both records and an explanation of the error and they removed the one showing the wrong mileage.
Mr. Spaghetti jokes never get old, im here for it! I am glad is a good sport. I hope he does one of the update videos and reads the best ones, we can all lough together. maybe a live stream lol
If carfax can’t fix it, take the car to the dealership for an oil change - they’ll document the mileage. Then take it somewhere else a month later. If there’s one mileage discrepancy where the mileage jumps up a crazy amount, but then “returns to a reasonable mileage” a week later, then it’s obvious the one place made a mistake.
Same thing happened on my current truck. Carfax shows true mileage unknown now as some ding dong out in Montana (where the truck was from) fat fingered the oil change stickers at a Valvoline. My truck has 255,000 miles (verified by dealer scanner) but somewhere along the line it was registered at the oil change place as 3xx,xxx miles.
