The 550 Mk2 is an awesome saw. Don’t underestimate it if you’ve never ran it. I’ve traditionally been a Stihl guy, but the 550 changed my preference. I’ve got a substantial collection to choose from, and for anything up to 8-10” diameter, the 550 usually gets the call. In bigger wood, the 500i or 592xp definitely gets the job done faster, but again, the 550 is a great saw. Fairly light, well balanced, nimble, and powerful.
I sure know the 550 is excellent. My thinking was more along the lines of pushing the platform pas where it really ought to have been pushed. For example, it is no secret the bearings have had issues. I just was thinking with the more aggressive tune, the crank stuffers and general more performance, all the components are the same and I thought the more docile saw would have a better chance at lasting more time into the future. If I had a 550, I think I would truly like it! They are very fun to run. A 20" light bar would be very cool on that machine. Thank you for sharing and safe cutting!
The Mk1 550, 560 & 562 all had hot starting issue. After numerous ‘software patches’, it was discovered to be the top cover. It just enclosed too much, so the fuel just before it entered the carb became an evap issue. They redesigned the top cover of the Mk2 550 & 560. But the 562 still seems to be roughly the same. Basically, the mod entailed a reduction of the cover on the cover’s right hand side. There were some other changes too. But the hot starting was solved by the smaller top cover. I nearly bought a 550 Mk1 but was concerned with the hot starting issue. When a friend physically threw his 560 over a hedge, when it failed yet again to start; and resorted to felling the trees with an axe for the rest of the day. I didn’t buy the 550. I bought a 545 instead. Though it had its own problem, it didn’t like being run dry. If you did, it was then a real pig to start after refuelling. Apart from that it was a great saw, still is in a way. I now own a 550 Mk2 and no starting issues. The 562 is the same as the 560, it just has the big bar mount. The Mk1 545 had a decomp valve. Husky removed the valves on some saws, as apparently they were confusing some people, leading to those owners flooding on cold starts.
Thanks for sharing all this information. The 562 seems to be far better mannered now that I have put an aftermarket exhaust on it. The saw starts easier from cold and hot starts with the best of them now it seems

Thank you Eric! Good luck and I bet the saw will perform flawlessly. I know Husqvarna can do it...... it seems as if they use some very long term beta testers from my perspective. I thought with the improvement throughout the years, the 562 would be a safe bet. I am familiar with the original 372XT issues. As far as I am aware, there has not been a Mark II of that and it has proven to be an excellent saw in the latest iterations. I used false logic it seems..... at least in my case.
Hey man! another good video!👍🏻 I ported one of my 545's and I'm running a 24" full comp 3/8 with no issues. (video to hit my channel when i get time🤣🤣) Timed cuts; it now pulls equal (maybe a second faster) than my 562xp with a 24" full comp. Like your 562, I have a MS261 M-Tronic that has some serious issues, was not even useable when I got it. I work on it for an hour or 2, make minor improvements, then i put it on the shelf for a month or so. Then I work on it again, and so on. I changed the fuel solenoid valve twice resulting only minor improvements. My latest improvement: I put a brand new carb on it. Although it's still not 100%, it is a different saw now. It's useable and it will just about hang with my (other) muffler modded 545. I'll mess with it again next month. Right now my 562xp is on the bench for porting and needs my attention... the 545 will not outrun it for long.😁😁 Keep the great vids coming! Good luck with the 562 and saw safe!
As a toy, that sure sound fun! I just feel as if we would have a case of a 4 cyl Honda that will beat a 5.0 mustang or LS1 in the 1/4 mile but not do it all day long sorta scenario. I really need to muffler mod my two 5 series. The cost of the muffler is too much for me to give it a go on my own however since I have never done it. That is interesing about your 261C. Was it under warranty when you purchased? Did you take it in? I love how you can swap the solenoid for so affordably on those saws. Was the carb a reasonable price? I think these AutoTune carbs are quite pricey as they are sold as an entire unit and no other way. Good luck on the Stihl. I am very interested in owning one of the 261 saws.
The 261 was not under warranty when I bought it. It’s an m-tronic 2.0 version (2018). I bought it on line from an alleged “saw shop”. They had no clue what they were doing. Fortunately, I have very little money in the saw and I can afford to mess with it until I get it right. The carb was $89. Not really bad for a NIB OEM m-tronic carb.🤷🏻♂️ and it made a huge difference! I have not had it hooked up at a dealer yet, I still have a couple things to do before I do that. I hope your 562 gets better, they really are an awesome saw. Mine’s on my bench right now apart. Hoping to have time in the next couple days to cut the squish band and base, then work on the ports.🤞🏼👍🏼. Keep the awesome videos coming & saw safe! (Spoiler: hoping to drop my ported 545 video this afternoon 🤞🏼)
Very good! Can I ask you if the saws performance is comparable in your opinion? I find it strange the decomp is gone and the compression has been lessened. I figured they made it more mild. Please do share
@@oakiewoodsman in my opinion it runs better. I wouldn’t say it has more peak power but has a better/broader power band. Maybe a little more torquey if that makes sense
totally makes sense! That is a nice combination if that is how it went. I love running this and love the RPM but wouldn't mind a little bit more down low! That would be unstoppable. A combo with that and reliability would make it the best all around saw out there I do believe.
Had the first year of the 550 mrk2 lost the bearings in it.sold it and got 346xp next to new would like to try a new 550 or 545 because they are strong running saws
I think that if you purchased a 550 or 545 you would be very happy. I think however, the 346 is known to be an incredible saw for sure. Are they not lighter?
@oakiewoodsman never put the 550 or 346 on the scale but both my 346 and 550 are ported by donny walker the 550 was faster but u can lay on the 346 more and well keep goin where the 550 would fall on her face
Oh wow! What a great man to have your saws worked on by! That is so cool and thank you for sharing that information. Is the 550 much smoother? nicer to run with the exception of not having as much torque?
@@oakiewoodsman yea donny does amazing work he done my 372oe 357 346 550 and now doin my 266 the 550 is definitely smoother but them 3 serious saws are amazing to run my favorite saws they like the warm and they like the cold snowy winters here in newfoundland
@@johnpower5526no kidding? Mine act the opposite. Cherry walkerized 346, mastermind 550xpmk2. 550 has quite a bit more torque down low where 346 is all on top. LOVE them both. Just sold my like new mastermind ported 562xp, just too peakey and next to no torque. 550 w 20" .325 seemed better as a 20" setup for me, and hot rodded 562 just didnt pull 24" for SHIT! but would scream w 20", but so doed my hot rodded 550 n 346. If i need more, out comes 7900 makita. VERY nimble saw for its size w 28".
I love my 545. I was hesitant to buy it at first but I am glad I did. It does 80% of the felling and cutting. When I need a little more saw I grab a cs590 or the 620. The husky has always started easily and runs great. I haven't really paid attention to the fuel tank size between it and my 261, but it seems to run quite a bit longer on a tank of fuel.
I would not doubt the fuel usage. It seems as if STIHL anything burns gas like crazy. My 460, 390 and some other saws I have run like the 461 and 661 and 170 all use fuel quickly. Thank you for watching and sharing your experience with your 545. I sure do love mine!
Hey Oakie, dunno if I would attempt to change your mind but the title of your vid isn't always the case -- I'd say that your 545 is better than your 562. I might have just had the luck of the draw (and I should prolly buy a lotto ticket) but my 562 runs really well and hot starts just like your 545...
902, you can just pull over the 562 after 1 -10 minutes of sitting? Wow! That would be so nice man! If I shut her off and restart immediately, I can do so without fast idle. Almost never will it do that after a few minutes however. Very interesting stuff. I just think there is something wrong with this saw. Again, part of the reason it has not been modded is so I can hand it to the dealer and say, please repair this. I am thankful that I have not had to throw any physical $ at this saw with the exception of probably $100 in fuel and many hours of drive time. Probably at least 8 hours so far. That my friend, would have paid for the 572 or a 400c and I do regret the purchase. Thank you for watching another and sharing. I let a friend run the 562 and 620 yesterday and he basically noticed how smooth and compact the 562 is. Great saw from an operators perspective for sure. Maybe your squish is a bit larger or something therefore creating less heat. I just dunno
Wish I knew more details about the the operating system and parameters autotune uses. I'm with you on wandering if there's some #s outside of where they should be and the tech/techs who plug it in just aren't noticing? I know you've kept a good clean fuel filter in it but am still curious if some fines might be in the carb. If comfortable with it, I'd pull the pump side of carb off just to see if there's any debris in the screen or anywhere in that side of the carb. I understand for most dealers/repair centers it's not realistic but believe they should have a small ~6" and large 16"+ test logs if for no other reason than these problem child saws.
I could certainly take the carb apart and take a look. I have a feeling the saw will likely run well again for some time. We will see sir! Thank you for watching and making this suggestion. I tried your gas cap trick on the 390, it may have been that. I idled through about 3/4 of a tank. It was running fine then started to get a little weird. Cracked the cap and it seemingly cleaned up. I am going to do some cutting with it shortly to find out what it is doing. Specifically, if it goes funky, I will crack the cap and then see if it goes back normal. I also sprayed brake cleaner all over the boot, PTO side and tried on the flywheel side. Didn't find anything in particular.
yes, I hope it is as simple as that. I am wanting to try to run this baby tomorrow possibly. I have been editing all day so I did not get to film today at all. Thank you again AP
Whether Stihl or Husky, gotta let the autotune re-tune after weather/season changes and fuel changes. I have a Husky 545 and 592 and a Stihl 400...all three awesome! Id love to have a Husky 572, but i dont want to spend the extra $ for another saw im not sure I'll need (400 is in a sweet spot, power, size and weight). The Husky 562 is like a Stihl 362...why bother?
I would say you are set unless you just feel the draw that we all feel! A stock 400 is marginally faster than a 562XP in test and is lighter. I would not mind having your lineup at all! You have a VERY nice spread in capabilities. I bet the 400C is a good middle ground in your lineup. Thanks for watching!
You've been far more patient than I would have been. You should send husqvarna links to your videos and tell them you want an mk2. The 562 mk2 seems be excellent. I agree. Husky didn't have the 562 right before they released it. The rest of the series, 550,572,592, are all good to go. My 592 has done me no wrong still to date pulling a 42. Thankfully, you already have the best 60cc saw. The 620 but on principle husky should make it right. Letting 900 bucks sit on your bench would burn my ass man. Thats not cool.
I believe they have already seen them. If they have not, they have a social media Team that is not doing their job. This saw is responsible for probably close to 2 million views on my channel. Both good and bad. They have been tageed and I have reached out to corporate in 2 ways with NO RESPONSE. First time via email, second time via Instagram business messenger. They have seen them sir. They just don't care IMO. I would love a 592 for sure buddy. They are an excellent tool from what has been recorded. I surely gave Husqvarna the benefit of the doubt when I purchased this 562. I figured, surely, we are not in beta testing stage still! hahaha.. By they way, it will not sit on my bench. I am going to run it and you bet, I will record my experience. I will always maintain it is nice to run and will mention it is working perfectly. Gremlins stink friend!
@oakiewoodsman thats crazy dude. Try reaching out to the Canadian reps. That shit wouldn't fly up here. Reliability and durability are 90% of the factors for me personally. If it's not reliable, i have 0 use for it. A 592 probably doesn't make sense for you, honestly. You're not pulling 36+ inch bars and definitely not regularly. If you get that 460 squared away, it would do you more than well enough for what you got down there. I'd save your money. It's a wicked saw don't get me wrong, but for 99% of people, it's really not necessary. Ported 572 would be more suited for what's down there, but again, you got a 460 and a ported 620, so there's not much need for that anyway. I'm glad you got a splitter, BTW. I haven't watched it yet, maybe after I'm done welding this new winch bracket in place later.
Such a bummer about that 562. I wonder if there is something going on with the fuel tank breather on it if heat is the issue. Iv had saws boil the fuel before when its hot out and winter blend fuel gets used. A few years ago i was working a hot spring day with some gas i had bought before the refineries had switched back to summer blend. 2 of my 3 saws boiled the fuel and would not run. 500i and, echo 4910 heat the fuel tank enough that winter gas on a warm day is no good. Echo 590 didn't care. It drank boiling gas for hours and got the job done. My experience is certain saws are fussier about winter blend gasoline.
Very interesting! My issues have occurred both times in spring. I just mixed a new batch of fuel. We will see friend. I really appreciate your input on this!
Carburetor clogged and auto tune doesn't see a problem... I saw a similar video in the grease shop... I have a 545xp and a 572xp... I've never had a 562xp (1250€) because it costs €400 more than the 572xp, it doesn't make sense to buy one here in Europe
Interesting about the cost! I think the 560 is more prevalent over there correct? I think that if I desired a 560 here, I would likely have to pay a premium as well. Thank you for sharing and it seems has if you have an excellent setup. I could do quite nicely with those two saws alone.
Humor me. The next time you use your 562XP & it acts up, put a brand new NGK CMR6H spark plug in it immediately. Carry a new spark plug & spark plug wrench in your pocket when using that saw. Don't change anything about the saw until it acts up again, & then install a new spark plug. This is someone else's story - "Before taking the saw to the shop, I decided to try a new spark plug - even though I knew it could not cause an intermittent problem. IT WORKED! I waited this long to report back because I wanted to run it a few times to be sure. I just ran three tanks of fuel through it today with no issues. I have never had a spark plug fail in that manner before in any machine at any time these last 45 years. The old plug was a Bosch, probably not more than 15 hours on it (10 is more likely). The new plug is a NGK." Humor me Joe. Please don't put in a new spark plug until it acts up again. Let it act up & put in a new spark plug. Change one variable when the problem arises again. I'm 61 years old & 90% of my small engine repairs are a new spark plug. My two Honda ATVs are 39 & 28 years old. Outside of having the starter rebuilt on the older machine, I've replaced spark plugs (I'm not including batteries, because I can kick start them without one). These are older machines. If they don't run right, it's the spark plug. It's NEVER been anything else! If something doesn't run right & you're not trying a new spark plug first, you are really wasting everyone's time. My 4 chainsaws are 19 years old & older. Two were my Dad's, but I personally have never taken a chainsaw to a dealer for repairs. I've had to replace spark plugs to make them run right again, however. Sometimes a new spark plug can suck. Try two if that's what it takes. I'm just sharing what works for me. I own one grass/brush trimmer. I bought it brand new in 1994. It will be 30 years old this summer. Sometimes, it needs a new spark plug!
@@oakiewoodsman I have a typed list. I keep new spark plugs in stock for every small engine I own. 4 chainsaws, 1 grass/brush trimmer, rototiller, log splitter, riding lawnmower, 2 push mowers, 2 ATVs, & UTV. Change the spark plug & keep going! I wouldn't own a small engine without having a spare spark plug on hand.
@driftlesshunter9200 I only have had one fail definitively in the last 5 years. However, I can see how they could cause an issue with a hi resistance fault internally. I have a 4 pk of those in my cart on Amazon along with another 4 pk for my stihl saws.
Stinks about the 562… I’ve been running my 550 quite a bit lately. Some oak I’ve been cutting is about 8” or less so it’s perfect. Plus, I’m having to clear some smaller limbs to get to it….
Kenny, we are of one mind friend! Thank you for watching and I appreciate you taking the time to do so even through your crazy work schedule friend. Stay safe and get some rest sir!
Buddy, it may come to that but I am not in a position to spend more money on it at this moment. Shipping is prohibitive and I have a meteor piston to purchase for my 460. I am going to have to hold off. I wanted to get my 390 worked out to sell it to fund some of this sort of stuff. It will come with time. Thank you for watching!
@olepederson2795 me too friend. I have been so positive about how this saw is to use! So good to run, still remains my favorite to operate. Like I have said before it is an "abusive relationship"
@@oakiewoodsman I don’t know your dealer but with the history and pretty well documented issues you have had I would think a “good” dealer would have stepped up and made a special effort to get someone more knowledgeable involved then they seem to be or have the time to deal with it correctly. 🤷♂️
i feel your pain. i had 550xpg it had 4 major blow ups in less than 8 years didnt wont more of that . purchased 543xp has a carb , it was much flustration like your 562xp after having it back to dealer twice ,was tould i would have to use husky fuel a $16 per liter, the problem was tank vent this was solved by non dealer teck so much for 2 year warenty
Ive got two tanks thru the 562 MK II. Runs and works just fine so far. Put a header pipe on it. Im not impressed so far. Kind of gutless. Friend of mine, loaned me his ms400. Im very impressed with it. Just pulls better. Similar weight. I know its a 67cc saw and it should pull better. Picking up a ms400 tomorrow. 25" light bar. This will be the first Stihl power saw ive ever owned.
Please let me know how you think they compare to one another. When I originally purchased my 562, the 400C was the other saw I was interested in. The only reasons I ended up with the 562 was because it was slightly less expensive, I liked it and they seemed to show similar performance. I am slightly regretting it at this point. I am however interested in the 562 Mark ii. Thank you again for watching and sharing!
I do not feel right about selling it. To put it up for sale and be transparent would be to take a HUGE loss on the saw. That, I will not do. It will be used till it fails or is fixed. I could hope for catastrophic failure honestly. As a technician, I always hate intermittent issues. That is the biggest issue with this saw.
As I have said before I think Husqvarna should give you a new saw. I don't think your saw is right, I have a MK2 550 that is ported I did consider a MK2560/2 but after seeing your problems I think I will wait. Thanks for sharing I hope Husqvarna are watching.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the Mark II. If it is as good as my my 545 Mark II, I certainly would not hesitate. It operates exactly like a saw should. Thank you friend
Why no one talks about the Husqvarna 565 its a great powerfull saw and handles a 27inches full burried bar realy well and its just way cheaper then the 572xp
Thank you for watching and commenting. I like what you say to an extent. The autotune saws run so well but the issue is that they mask issues by adjusting past them. That makes it hard to tell what is going on. If a regular carb saw suddently goes funky, and you have to tune it in order for it to be more "right" you know you are tuning around trouble. That is IMO the only issue with AutoTune/Mtronic. Thank you again!
Yes the saw has problems but i blame your Dealer more than the saw! Thousands of people have had no issues including me. There's always a saw no matter what the brand is that has issues and you fall into that category. My 550mk2 has 75hrs on it with no issues also! Sorry for your bad luck!
I agree friend. It may also be a mixture of different things as well. For example, humidity, fuel type, temperature, elevation and usage. We will see friend. I just wish it ran as good as my 545. I also blame the dealer. The problem is, the issue has not been repeatable by them. I cannot take it to them broken. It always runs fine when there. I ran it fine for months in hard conditions just fine
Don't know where your located but a good dealer makes all the difference.. you obviously got a lemon and i am sure Husqvarna doesn't even know anything about it... Your dealer is useless... Also I recommend going to a 572 xp and put a long bar on it so you can save your back and not bend over all the time... I'm 6' 2'' and run a 32 inch bar on my 572 with no problems
This saw normally runs a 28" bar as does my 620P. I purchased this over a 572 because most of the wood I cut doesn't need it. I can stand up and buck effectively with a 28 because I am shorter than you. I have run my friend 372XT with a 32 skip and it is nice but not needed for me. I will likely run something longer on a larger displacement saw. As far as dealers go, they are far and few between in my region. Numerous dealers that sell Husqvarna will service everything but the AutoTune. Husqvarna does not have a very significant market share in my area. It is all Stihl and some ECHO. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Awesome sir! Let me know when it hits cause I am having a hard time keeping up with everything! Thanks for writing back!
Video is up!👍🏼 I put up a short and a full (almost 20 min.) video as well! I hope you enjoy it!
I had no issues with my 562xp. But I sold it to get the 562xp MK II. I enjoy the MK II much more to be honest
Husk 545 Mk 2 is a nice machine, light and powerful agile . Always starts easy.
Love that machine so much. It really made me a believer in the AutoTune setup. Always works just righ!
@@oakiewoodsman great to hear of no obvious leaks! Would be awesome if replacing the tank vent is all that's needed!
yes, I hope it is as simple as that. I am wanting to try to run this baby tomorrow possibly. I have been editing all day so I did not get to film today at all. Thank you again AP
I have a 562xp love it
Love mine too. I especially love it when I go long stretches of time and it operates perfectly. Super nice to use.
@@oakiewoodsman run a little seafoam through it
I have watched stuff on it. Never used it before.
I haven't watched it yet, maybe after I'm done welding this new winch bracket in place later.
heck ya buddy! You are totally correct... plus I may be getting some other large saw here in a bit. Always appreciated friend!
👍👍 some saws or products in general just have a bad one- Monday or Friday build.
If you want auto tune and 60cc… sell the 562 and pick up a 555.
I actually haven’t seen anything about tue 555 Mark ii.
I converted my 545 to 3/8 and its great.
Interesting. Thank you
Such a bummer about that 562.
You should maybe pressure test the saw. Seeing if it's leaking air.
Dealer has claimed to. I don’t currently have the stuff to do it. Someday maybe! Thank you for watching and commenting!
This is someone else's story -
"Before taking the saw to the shop, I decided to try a new spark plug - even though I knew it could not cause an intermittent problem. The new plug is a NGK."
Humor me Joe.
Good idea, I will have to get one ordered! Thank you sir!
Glad your saw is running well! Good to see ya and hope to see ya running them saws soon buddy!
I picked the 545 over the 550. The 550 screams to make power and I didn't like that.
Kenny, we are of one mind friend! Thank you for watching and I appreciate you taking the time to do so even through your crazy work schedule friend. Stay safe and get some rest sir!
Send it to Richard Flagg or greasy shop rag guy. 🤷♂️🤷♂️ a husky area rep 🤷♂️.
@@oakiewoodsman totally understand. Hate seeing you having these troubles with that saw.
Interesting! Thank you for sharing and watching. Be safe and I appreciate you
Hey bud, working over time I'll catch up with ya .
Thanks for stopping by! Be safe and get rest sir!
My 562xp M2 runs like a champ. Life is too short to waste as much time as you do with your 562xp. You need to sell it and move on with your life.
I just don’t have one. Aren’t they only like $50 less?
Afleetcommand certainly has spoken about his.
@@oakiewoodsman in germany shes 300 Euro cheaper then the 572xp thats a lot of money
I saw your reply. I approved it and cannot tell why it was hidden. 300 Euros is certainly quite a bit. Thank you for sharing that with us!
Any saw you can't tune yourself is junk, change my mind.
Thank you for watching and commenting
That saw is a lemon, get rid of it and move on. I think husqvarna should have gave you a new one.
I ran it yesterday a bit and it was glorious! Talk later friend. Thanks for watching and sharing
