    What an enormously labor intensive process! Just think of all the hard work the bees put into that before you harvested it! Can’t wait to see all the goodness you’ll be creating with this luxurious product this winter.

    I like the paper towel filter because you can use the paper towels afterwards as fire starters, and the wax comes out so clean

    Was so nice to see you!! You will love learning new ways to use your wax! Comfrey salve was my go to for diaper rash. What a reward your bees gave you! You are so patient 😊

    Wow!! Amazing! I just pickup up 16 pounds of beeswax from a local beekeeper that I'll use making candles , lip butters, and body butters! I feel like I received actual gold bars! Just a beautiful resource! Thank you for sharing !! ~jc

    Let the bees clean the wax

  • @thomasrape4616

    Ma'am you sure are doing it the hard way. The way I do it is take 2 5 gal buckets and cut the bottom out of one. Take a cheap tee shirt and put it across the top of the bucket with the bottom in it. Then fit the bottomless bucket into the top of bucket with the tee shirt. This holds the tee shirt in place. Then put a paint strainer bag into the top bucket. Using a large old pot put 3 or 4 inches of water in and heat it up. When the water is hot enough start putting in your old comb and bur comb etc. When everything is melted pore everything into the buckets. The paint strainer will catch the large particles and the tee shirt will catch the small stuff. Strained and filtered in 1 step. This gets the wax clean enough for my purpose of waxing foundation.

    Just a thought, keeping the wax in the paint strainer, tie it up and put in crock pot with water.

    Use silicone molds. Removes the need for PAM and muuuuch easier to demold

    What is the remaining liquid in the crock pot after you remove the block of wax? Is that honey?

    It’s a year later and I found this video. Do you still have bees? That wax looks amazing! Do you make soaps?

    • @justdigitfarms
      @justdigitfarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do still have bees. I have not made soaps. Just chapsticks and salves but I want to try candles and I’d love to learn to make soaps.

    Put the waxed stuff in the freezer and it will clean off pretty easy

  • @SilverSin

    Next time you could use a paint strainer sack so that way you won't have to filter as much. But still a amazing video. Keep it up!!!

    How do you clean the stuff you use for this process?

    • @justdigitfarms
      @justdigitfarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Paul! Anything we use for this process is given over to the bee equipment. I can’t get all the wax off and get it clean. I just do the best I can by heating up the pot and tools and wiping with a paper towel while it’s hot and clean it the best I can.
      Any wax that I get on countertop,etc. I did find using lemon essential oil helps it come right off

    How to make the wax clearer?

  • @mariegardiner6698

    Maybe better to use distilled water or rainwater instead of tap water. However your finished product does look good.

    Why are you dunking your seive all the way into the crockpot ? - you need only skim the top - the way you are doing it is only stirring the good with the bad - I know this is a 2 yr old video - I am pretty sure you have perfected your process during this time

    You're messing up by doing all that it's very easy to render the wax get you a big pot put you about 2 inches of water in the bottom get it up to boiling get all your camping and start pouring them in that hot boiling water and disturb it a little bit let it melt down pour it to the paint filter running through the paint strainer let it cool overnight then tip the block out of the bucket tip it over wash off the slump gum off the bottom do that process 3 or 4 times 3 and 4 times until it becomes clean
