At the peak of his career in about 1957 he quit music to become a preacher. Through the years he has gone back and forth between secular music and preaching. I love his 1989 album, Lifetime Friend, which is all religious music done in a pop style, such that I didn't even notice the preaching part of it until it sunk in.

Around 1979, had the privilege of attending a Revival Tent Meeting in Washington, DC. It was pouring down raining, I was drenched to the bone getting there, but I wouldn't have missed it. Little Richard only sang two songs (Gospel), and preached for over an hour. His hair was close-cropped, and was wearing a conservative suit. I remember him saying, "rock 'n' roll is the devil's music," and "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." -- Now believes he can play his music and still serve God.
Well, he's done with rock n roll now for good. He always had a struggle But God told him he cant serve two masters. and I think he got it. He's preaching now. at 85.
I attended a meeting at the firFirst Baptist Church I believe it was in the late 50,, the church was on Church st.in Huntsville,Ala. He preach there.Does anyone remember .? R.I.P.your Gospel songs are very soul touching.we love.

Saw him at a club in Alexandria, Va two years ago. He spoke of the Lord, and passed out Gospel tracts to everyone there.
