Back in 1977 me and some of my friends were heading back South on LSD in my '69 Olds 4-4-2 on a very early Saturday morning after hitting Rush Street and Lake Shore Drive comes up on the radio. Needless to say we all are singing along and having a ball after a long night out. Great memories thanks to Alliotta Haynes Jeremiah! Thank you Skip Haynes for this wonderful song.
Thank you so very very much ! Good to see the city again. I've recently moved to New Mexico but I will never EVER forget the wonderful memories I had driving on Lake Shore Drive. It was a wonderful beautiful dreamy road. One of the prettiest in the world ! Sometimes the lake would be blue, sometimes green, sometimes gray.
The time period that this song was written/ recorded the city of Chicago and L. S. D. were totally different animals.....the song captures that FEELING so well.
Hey Skip. Just happened on this interview. Loved it! Quick wit on your part. Thanks for the music, the memories & and the laughs. You take care.... Don
What a great interview with the writer of one of my favorite songs. Also, I miss the program Wild Chicago that aired on WTTW channel 11. That's Will Clinger interviewing Skip Haynes in this video. Whenevern I'm in the area driving north or south through Chicago, I often take LSD (Lake Shore Drive) instead of the expressways.
Skip is NOT the writer of Lake shore Drive, he took credit for a song that he never even wrote, he had stole it from the original writer Ted Aliotta. Skip took Credit for something he never did. Completely unbelievable on how people think that Skip is the writer of Lake shore drive
Where your proof bud I’ve been doing research on their band for about 3 months now I even took a flight to see skips favorite restaurant and ted alliotta got kicked out of the band 2 years before the song written
Me and a back in the good days 0:30 neighbor picked me up and drove me to make a dr.s appointment a few day’s ago.We rolled from the north to roll south & got on Lake shore drive. We couldn’t believe what are eyes seen.Tents set up all along the road of homeless people on a Saturday.Unreal what is are Country leaders thinking?
a kid one told me a story about getting to soldier field to see the dead, they where already high, so they asked another dead head how to get to the field, and he said "take lsd, youll find the way" and left thinking that would help... it didnt.
RIP Skip. You will be missed. Thank you for Lake Shore Drive.

There ARE some things I miss since moving out of Chicago. Driving on Lake Shore Drive is one of them. Brings back tons of childhood memories.

Great song, Great post! Thanks
Thanks for posting. I loved wild Chicago. Really helped me when my friend told me this song was not about a road.
But it is about a road. It's about a road and a drug.

Sad thing is many reps are as bad as the dems....Too bad we couldn't actually find honest people with good morals to be politicians.
THANKS SKIPPY 😊
