I struggled with this for a period of my life, it started at home then grew as I encountered more hurtful situations outside of home. I didn't quite know why I became so distant from others but I remember feeling safe and protected, like the wall would cause them not to hurt me. In the end it isolated me and made me become judgemental and I struggled with forgiving people for any offenses. It is so true that we often require grace for all our wrongs but seek revenge when others wrong us. I had to learn this and allow the holy spirit to do a work in my heart, to soften it and remove the bitter root. Now I am able to feel peace not only with myself and them, but God. The bible also says that vengeance belongs to God not us, so we can trust that he is in control of the ones who hurt us and is giving them the grace or chance to change before it is too late. We can forgive them and move on, especially in situations where people remain toxic and don't desire change.

My question is the same: how did you soften your heart?

    • @Ramona1033
      @Ramona1033 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I prayed about it and asked God to help me to understand his heart and what forgiveness meant to him and why it was important for me to practice it. It took time to start seeing and feeling myself no longer holding on to grudges, but I got to that place because of the grace of God and the power of the holy Spirit.
Reminding myself that I too need grace and God's forgiveness helped me to be more understanding towards others. Also I had to learn that when I forgave, I wasn't just doing it for the other person. God wants us to forgive because it sets us free. Holding on to hurts affects us emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Someone who is living in resentment and bitterness or unforgiveness is never a person at peace because the negative thought process directs a lot of unhealthy behaviors and then results in more negative life experiences.
I pray that everyone who is struggling with learning how to forgive will receive divine guidance and power from the holy Spirit. That they may have the strength to forgive even when it doesn't seem deserving. That they may forgive even when they did not receive an apology. I pray that the holy Spirit would comfort and heal hearts from whatever pain that it may have endured. I pray for the peace of God that passes all understanding for each person, in the mighty name of Jesus (of Nazareth). Amen

You hit the nail on the head with the rejection part. I faced rejection most of my life. I went to church and admired the church leaders and their wives and I wanted to make friends. During the greeting part of the service I went to hug the pastors wife and she swerved around me to avoid hugging me and proceeded to hug her friends. That only added to my church hurt. And during times where I was going through hell all I got was "I'll pray for you" and thats it as well as broken promises. So I'm trying to heal from church hurt and bitterness. I dont want to be bitter forever.

If we decide to forgive others, we defeat our enemy Satan. It is a geat feeling to know we please God and defeat God's enemy and our enemy. If someone has offended us and they never say they are sorry, when we are slow to anger and quick to forgive, Satan has lost the objective for him to have inspired them to offend us. Praise our Heavenly for giving us the ability to reject being offended and keeping our peace and joy. I learned that my frustration was always caused by my desire to control something I likely didn't have the right to control to begin with. By following God's instruction to be slow to anger and quick to forgive, I no longer experience being frustrated. It is rewarding to know we did something that pleases our Heavenly Father. Our desire should be to always please God and remember to always be thankful for our Lord and Saviour. Our Heavenly Father and our Lord, Jesus are worthy of our love and our desire to always please them. Thank you God for the Holy Spirit, who will lead us into all truth and righteousness.

I watched this last time because It showed up on my feed and I clicked it immediately. I was struggling with bitterness bcos I did not receive an apology from the person that hurt me like a year ago. Im not aware that my actions were fruits of my bitterness. When David is describing what a bitter person is like, I feel like he was describing me bcos its very accurate. I praise God for revealing the trash that Im carrying in my heart. After watching, I did pray to God to free me from bitterness and it was freeing. a few days later, the person that Im talking about talked to me first and he apologized. Thank you, Jesus!

A wife who refuses to intervene on his behalf and mine. I'm withering away, hopelessly. I pray constantly and give thanks for all the Lord has blessed me with. So true. I suffer from OCD, so you can imagine the intrusive thoughts of recalling past hurts can be challenging. I know I need to forgive something a friend said and yet still ‘think’ about something she said. Ugh, I have prayed on it and know what I need to do and pray for the Holy Spirit’s power. I want to make sure bitterness doesn’t take root and know I need to forgive because Jesus has forgiven me.
I am a loud and can get triggered by certain things (I have had to overcome anger, and it is something I still struggle at times). So, perhaps the girlfriend wasn’t compassionate enough and I am mad about that when I think about it. Anyway- I can go on and on.

Evangelist David I was baptized with The Holy Spirit last November 2019. But eventhough i was baptized still i'm struggling how to go deep with how to know more of The Holy Spirit. But because the Holy Spirit is our Helper, He leads me to you. I found your page in FB I don't know how and from then on I subscribe you in youtube, I even became a monthly giver to your ministry to reach out more lives. Because of your teachings and preachings, I know that the Holy Spirit works through you because I can sense the power of The Holy Spirit even if I am just watching you on TV. May God pour out more of His blessings in your ministry because it really is reaching more believers and even unbelievers who became believer later on.

You'll never understand what this message has done for me. I believe God laid this message in your heart specifically for me. I have been battling with myself trying to understand why I do almost everything that you mentioned in this video and as you began to speak I could almost literally hear the penny drop one by one. I am so grateful to God for your ministry. As I listened I suddenly realised how much heaviness I have been carrying in my heart and as the message concluded I began to feel a sense of release and relief. I am so grateful! God continue to bless you.

Very powerful word, it help me understand my mom's pain & behavior much better. Praying for restoration in our soul, body & spirit. It is imperative that the pain & challenges we face daily to not spend to much time listening to the noise. We must draw close to Jesus & stay, don't let go of his garment no matter what! . Cast ALL our cares & he will give us rest in his finished works & watch his peace will surpass all of our understanding. 🙏🏼🙏🏼💜💜🖐🏼🖐🏼

Thank you Lord for this new perspective on forgiveness. Today every last single being I hope to ever come in my life, has just deposited seventy times seven forgivenesses on a daily basis, in their accounts with me.

This video resonated immensely… I’ve been hurt many times and recently I’ve seen myself becoming more willing to tell others how I’ve been hurt, wanting them to show their loyalty to me and hate on the person who hurt me. In this video I realized it was all about CONTROL. Thank you!

This was really eye opening thank you! Ive dealt with a lot of rejection since childhood and over the years I’ve felt like my heart has hardened. I’ve been dealing with a lot of bitterness and anger towards a friend because I’ve been interpreting how she treats me like it’s my past all over again and all I’ve wanted is someone to tell me my feelings are justified. That I have the right to be angry because of all that I’ve gone through. I only realized right now that I’ve been looking at my whole life through a lens of bitterness and I’m a very negative person because of it. Bitterness has made it really hard for me to connect with people because I’m so scared of rejection and like you said at the beginning of the sermon, if I feel like this person doesn’t like me from the start I will automatically not like them because I don’t want to risk more pain and I end up shutting everyone out. I had a lot of conviction listening and this is definitely something I’m going to ask God to work on inside my heart. Thank you again :)

My relationship with my mom has been not easy and what you just preached tonight just says it all...and my relationship with others has been affected too, because of how I've been viewing everything through the lenses of bitterness..and I believe that Jesus wants to set me free right now and I pray and He will help me to forgive my mom🙏😭❤️. I'm thankful to God for the work He's doing in my life 🙏✨.

Dear Ps David as i listen to you i can't stop tears coming down., Its been so difficult for me to forget what had happened to me many years. I was so hurt, I know very well i hv to forgive those who do me wrong, which i always do. Each time these thoughts come back to my mind i have to renounced them in Jesus name .
Now and again, I know each passing day I learn to rebuke these thought off in Jesus Name.
Its my prayer too that as you deliver these messages other hearts quickly forgive and that their joy may be full.
Thank you very much for the reminder to forgive as Jesus commanded us too. God Bless
