Harry I have to say as someone who teaches, your position in the second half improved immensely. No swinging of your lower legs, hands lower and as a pair, eyes up more, sitting deeper into the canter! Superb Job 10/10 ❤
Harry looked good on Kato his seat got better as the lesson went on and at the end when Kato spooked Harry regained his seat and his right stirrup. Well done Harry and Kato 💕
Love seeing Kato and your dad…..they’re a fab pairing. Well done Harry, the riding was definitely better the more you rode him! Well done, it takes courage to ride different horses intermittently at our age 😂 😂
Those carnivorous butterflies are horse eaters for sure. I know our horses find them scary too. Always great to see Kato back. Great way to sit a spook Harry.
Grinning from ear to ear watching this! I love Kato so much and Dad could truly get quite good at dressage! He made Kato look absolutely brilliant at times! They suit each other so nicely! I hope to see more before Kato goes back home! Also, Dad handled that spook like a true pro too!
Love when Kato visits and watching Harry ride! Bit of a shaky start but got better and better as the lesson progressed. Well done over all and darn that 🐉🍃😅😊
Well done Harry, your position definitely improved as you went on and that was reflected in Kato's outline. I was in stitches when you nearly fell off!! My horse spooked at a skip this morning and scared two cyclists to death. 😂
Looking good there, Harry, think Ashley has competition….. Kato is like your favourite armchair, you know the horse it doesn’t matter how often you do or don’t ride him, it’s like melting into your favourite chair. ❤❤
Lovely to see Steve looking so good with his riding! Big improvement from start to finish of session! Good job, Steve! The big boy is so adorable and so silly spooking at a leaf!?!? Really?!??? Keep up the good work, guys.
Ashley, your Dad is epic🎉 To stay on with those spooks, together with the improvement in riding (as he got used to Kato again & with your teaching), I think a solid 8. Great job 👏👏👏👏
Your Dad is so sweet and very funny Ashley. Kato is a beautiful horse it is lovely to see him again. Well done that lesson was a workout for you. Tfs🤗🏇🤗
Yay! Your dad did a great job on Kato, and both he and Kato definitely improved by the end of the ride! 😊 Good job Harry on staying on with that big spook! I’m in a similar situation, returning to riding after a long break, and I think that Kato’s big spook at the end would definitely have dislodged me. I’d be picking myself up from the ground!😅 So great job to Harry, and SO lovely to see Kato again. I love him so much!❤
Wow that was so good of your dad to ride Kato . And such an great vlog with your dad . Thank you for Kato and your dad together .Take care and all the best . 😊😊😊👍👍👍👍💖💟🐶
Lovely to se Harry ride Cato again! 🥰🥰 Yes, your riding got better and better! Not that easy to sit deep and ride with your seat when your back hurts eighter...... I think you did a very good job! 🥰🥰 Riding big wobbly horses, like Cato, are demanding...... and then add spooky! 😅😅 Nice teaching from you too Ashley! 🥰🥰
Intro did make me giggle! Well done harry AKA Steve!! You did super well and defo improved your position further on in the lesson. ( not easy with a bad back ether) let alone with Mr spooker lol !
Dad please get yourself a horse and get into it before it’s to late he’s a good rider. It would be nice to see him go round a 70/80 one day event!. What progress and it will keep him fit also 😊x
@@selfawarepotato he's gorgeous my horse is taller at 3yrs old but he's Dressage bred. Ash and Steve are such lovely people wonderful to see him riding Kato can't help but smile x
Harry and Kato, a match made in heaven, both quirky, a bit mischievous but honest as the day is long, it's great to see you and your dad having so much respect for each other ( apart from when Harry is a tad cross) lol well ridden it certainly did improve as the lesson went on 🎉 xx
@ashleyharrisoneventing oh my goodness. It's almost time. My darling Ash, I hope you're resting with your feet up. Demand lots of foot rubs. Love ya ❤️ big hugs
WELL DONE STEVE you say about your riding but you stayed on you your much loved Kato. The main thing is enjoy riding best thing ever.ps Steve looks sexy with his beard. Hope you are ok Ashley miss seeing you ride XX
Kato may be tolerant, but he’s also very big, and I can tell you from personal experience that it’s very difficult to go back to riding a large strided horse and immediately make it look good. Especially at the trot! When I ride my friend’s 18 h horse, I feel like his trot is launching me off into space, and I’m sure I look like a sack of bouncing potatoes. Whereas I look halfway decent on my 16.2 h horse. (Also easier on my arthritic knees and back 🥹). Also, Harry did a great job sitting that big spook! I wish my balance and muscle memory were as good after a long riding hiatus as Harry’s! I would likely have ended up on the ground with that spook!😅
Absolutely love you and your family 😁 harry did brilliantly, just kept getting better n more confident with you teaching him 👍 and you, as always give me something to think about, deep breaths! 👍 Hope you're keeping well ash, and everyone and everything is Decent 😂😂😂😂
Well done dad for putting yourself out there on this snake pit of a platform called social media. The improvement in your riding is great and you do it with humour which is sadly missing in today’s society. It takes a brave person to put themselves out there knowing the keyboard warriors are lurking about. Well done x
Have to say you two do look really healthy.....both have beautiful skin and your dad has such lush hair (chuckle...what's there is shiny !). I find it interesting how you do the near side of your girth first (also having the girth off). We always have the girth buckled on the offside and looped up through the stirrup, and then unslip it and put it under the horse to tighten on the near side. Absolutely nothing of importance but I just find it interesting. Autumn looks as beautiful as your summer. I'm loving all the viewing of the UK scenery. Another beautiful place to exercise. Lower your stirrups , dad...it will be easier to ride this big stride (shoulder/hips/back of heel plumb line). When your leg comes back in line (like when you are cantering), you sit up and drive him forward into your hand. You look 1000 times better in the canter because you can sit and get your plumb line right. Your saddle is forward cut so it is going to throw your knee forward.
Well done Harry got so much better 2nd half of the lesson, i teach a man about your age whos daughter i have taught since she was pony club shes 28 now, he used to give her a hard time! Not so hard on her now when hes finished his lesson! 😂😂😂😂😂
Wow, amazing job on a much more difficult horse. Your dad is a blast, Ashley. He is such a good sport and you are a lovely and supportive daughter. I'm so glad he did not come off Kato's crazy leaf spook at the end. I'm sure we all know that feeling: relaxed, chilling out after a good session, horse nice and solid underneath you, then wammo, no horse underneath you in an instance. In fact, when I think about it, extra kudos to your dad for sitting that spook; it is definitely experience and relaxed skill that helps experienced riders stay on when that happens. Your dad did an amazing job, schooling Kato. I would give him an 8.5 :) Thank you for sharing your family and horses (or former horses -- it is a weird horse that spooks more in familiar places than novel ones ?>&^? wtf, Kato?) You have a delightful and supportive family and it is always nice to see any/all of you kibitzing along with each other and helping each other out as a family should. Wish I could give you guys a 1,000 likes for each of your videos. They never fail to put a huge grin on my face. PS: Kato is lucky your dad is such an experienced rider, as he might have done himself out of a carrot if he had managed to put your dad on the ground. I know I wouldn't be feeling so forgiving if I had a big thump onto the hard ground, even with the body protector :)
@@ashleyharrisoneventing I appreciate that and wouldn’t expect anything less from you guys. But you didn’t answer my question 😃. Best of luck with baby ❤️
As much as it’s lovely for Dad to ride he is an accident waiting to happen. All the time he sits on the back of his bum with his legs waggling around in front of his hip and knee line he will always be like a lump of jelly. Needs to sit up, shoulders back, elbows in and engage his core. Of course I do appreciate he is an occasional rider but I do worry for him. Great entertainment though 😁 . Thank you ❤
Give him a break! He’s only been riding again for a short period of time, and he hasn’t ridden that often. He will improve the more he practices! That’s how it works. Most normal people, especially those who don’t ride frequently, can’t just get back on a horse they haven’t ridden in a year and look like a professional! That’s why we practice and work on our weaknesses, so we can improve. There is no magic “restart” button which makes you as capable of a rider as you were before a long break. 🙄 You are being overly critical and harsh!
@@margauxnodvin7478 No I am not. I am being honest because I am worried. I am aware of all you have said but all you have done is support my concern. The skill is to ride within your capability level and to correct all those issues you have. When the appropriate core strength and skill levels have been achieved you develop the technical improvement. You don’t just jump straight into the deep end because it just is not possible to improve without the basic skill set in place. All you do is develop the wrong muscles and all the bad habits and there will be a fall. It is inevitable. It is so fortunate that the horses are so well trained. So I am not harsh, just concerned and I don’t think that is being unkind at all.
