Looks great! Love the extra detail of coloring the edges. You can also rip the edges on a metal ruler edge. And, if you laserprint on uncoated (glossy) paper, you can spray it with clear satin or gloss finish for a cool parchment look. Always looking forward to the next DIY!

I am setting up my office as a journey through the Harry Potter world and series and in one section I have like I am getting ready to go to Hogwarts. So my school supplies list and fun things on top of my trunk and this map would be so much fun to have with that school supply list! I love your ideas and am enjoying these crafts so very much. The ripping instead of cutting techniques is actually hitting too close to home. I've literally never bring scissors to school and that's all I ever do 😂
My father for some reason didn't allow me to use scissors at all under threat of actual physical harm. All the crafty scraps in my carpet. I got to the point of tearing paper with surgical precision.

You should try to use paper that isnt shiny, a matt paper would give alot better result, you can browse paper stores for different weights of paper and also different textures, it would help make it more authentic ;)
It's actually not the paper that makes it look shiny, it's the printer.
Totally understandable, well there's always an option to print on yellowish paper with fibres using a laser printer (not sure which one, not a native english speaker, but its the one that only prints black) and then age the paper using coffe/tea/acrylics. That should make it look more authentic imo.
Otherwise great work, keep it up!

Yes, any paper will work. It was actually the laser printer that gave it the shine.

11x17 is pretty close to A3, but I've also included an A3 template in the download. I use a local printing service to print on large paper.

Love this channel - your DIYs are so professional and I love the instructional videos! I made the mini marauders map earlier for my son to play HP with. He loves it and all his friends want one too! Awesome! I just did mine and on the video it looks like you used glossy paper I would suggest using regular paper instead it helps making it look aged (I used light card stock paper)
The glossy look is actually the toner from the laser printer I used.

I would suggest burning the sides a little with a lighter when working with "old paper". it gives it great detail.

Hey first of all I’m a huge fan I love your vids. Second if you sell or start selling the things you make like the Marauders map I’m sure people including myself would pay pretty good money for. Just a thought because I don’t really have the time to make all the dope stuff you make and I’m also super clumsy so I mess up the easiest things like gluing. So if you sold the maps you could probably make a pretty decent profit.
I don't really sell the map because it takes so long to make and the cost of printing would make it really expensive to sell. Also, I don't want Warner Bros to shut me down. That's why I provide all the templates for free.
