It’s nice to know I’m not the only one choosing so many books over the month and I know what you mean about feeling out of touch with books sometimes, I find doing something else, like another hobby such as diamond painting, etc. helps and then I feel more motivated for colouring too. Take care 😊
Yep! Agree, K. I go from drawing to coloring to painting and even, on occasion, to making mixed media art pieces out of cardboard and sundry objects and paint etc(mainly wall art like doll homes and miniature rooms). I call it “cleansing my palate” and it refreshes my desire to go back to my drawing in my storybook-like art journals(am soom to be creating my own memoir this way) and coloring too!

As ever, gorgeous picks! I have almost all of these as well…although I haven’t been doing much coloring this summer-I am drawing and sketching and painting (acrylic, gouache and watercolor) in my own artbooks(art journals full of my own created characters and stories). I loooooooove to draw and create my own stories, graphic style. I have been doing this since I was 5. For me, adult coloring is mainly as a “palate cleanser “ and a creative break/warmup between my actual favorite artistic hobby(drawing and painting and creating stories in my hardback, 11”x8”/12”x9” journals.) I also try out new techniques this way. So, all of this is to ask you: what sketching books have you purchased? I am intrigued. I think you are a natural for sketching tbh because you have a great grasp of color combinations and are very good at coloring creatively. You are also(in my view) quite disciplined. I also have a few Ranger mixed media journals in which k like to create although I’m rubbish at drawing tbh
Nobody starts out knowing immediately how to draw. Nobody! I began of my own volition at 4-5 yrs old; and my interest in drawing kept me at it. Now, I can draw in a variety of styles from hyper-realism to anime/manga to cartoony. I also love to paint in watercolor and acrylic and am now beginning in gouache and later, cross fingers!, will go to oil paints. All while never having been instructed professionally. As Pablo Picasso once said, “Inspiration has to find you working”. And YOU, K? Are very dedicated. So as long as you will actually enjoy and get into what we artists call “flow”(a very ecstatic state of mind whilst creating in progress) you will definitely improve! For learning to draw, there’s no better book than Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. Get the newest edition you can find. A classic and wonderful. 👍

It’s coming along ..
I’m trying to colour as many pages as possible. It takes me quite a long time as I like to use a variety of mediums so I would say approx 8h on average, to all in one sitting though!
Some lovely choices k I wouldn't be able to do all even if I had all rhe books in the world I also just chose my books for August yesterday I have a cold currently so not sure if I'm gonna even colour all but rooms of wonder is in my pile 🙃 I chose some same rooms I only got the book this week and have 2 pages done so far absolutely love it I got it on special hoping in the coming months worlds of wonder go on special because they can be very expensive here in south Africa

K have you ever seen a Japanese book called Rabbit Girl? It's so cute I saw it on Lucy's channel. I love the watercolor book I can't wait to see you color in that book. I absolutely love the Japanese and Korean books they are beautiful.
