This was another fine video. I trained my lab on hand signals as well as voice commands. The reason I had such success with him is because we learned together. We respected one another. I did not try to train him when my mind wasn't clear and I didn't try training him when his wasn't. I would wait and try again. Patience is key. I would wait for him and he always delivered. He always knew what I wanted and was proud to please me. I in return have a loving lab who listens and is obedient. Makes for a happy relationship.

Thanks Can you put together a video on how you handle, separation anxiety or heard bound horses I just picked a five year old having a issue with this.
Hi Ted, Thank you for your great videos. I like your kind and calm approach with the horse in mind. I am wondering though how you would react to a horse kicking at you. For example when you try to groom it, touch its belly or pick up its feet. Some people say you have to retaliate immediately and make it think it's going to die and then it will not attempt to do it again. However, making a horse think it is going to die doesn't sit right with me. So, what do you do to stay safe and impede kicking? Thanks! :)
Get your horsemans stick with a soft cloth flag on it......lightly touch the horse in sensitive areas until it is relaxed.....the reason it kicks is that it has been forcefully handled by someone may be.....kindness and patience is always best and most long lasting...keep me posted take your time....brutality and forcefullness does not work....your horse is just afraid

Wow, Ted how to tell between apprehension and resistance? I agree and realize I do this wrong. Applies to children to and have done that wrong. Will check myself from here on.

depends on situation...it's hard to put to words....I always want to be kind not forceful...but need to be firm and a leader....one good crack on the butt with my stick usually works.....don't nag be firm and deliberate
