@@DesolatorMagic I should have given the specifics lol, basically a new player to Arena was asking for help/advice on getting started. Said he previously made a Netdeck when he started and his experience didn't end well. My advice was to never Netdeck and explained the reasoning why, finish color challenges for free decks/cards, don't blow wildcards until he does his homework and either learns deck building then creates his own deck tailored for his playstyle and enjoyment OR finds a solid little deck that performs and can efficiently grind cards and gems with and isn't a "Meta" netdeck.
Should have foreseen the HoopleHeads coming out the GD walls and descending upon me with their righteous meta fury ready to beat me about the face and neck and possibly the groin area.....it was glorious.
I stand by my beliefs.....I abhor Netdecks and all they stand for.

As a Yu-Gi-Oh! player, the "1996 Kazuki Takahashi" and the "TV Tokyo, Konami" text are copyright text. The original copyright of Yu-Gi-Oh was made in 1996 with the original manga by Kazuki Takahashi, and was later renewed by Studio Dice, TV Tokyo, and Konami in 2020.
I also just love these reaction videos. Just seeing your reaction to Nirvana High Paladin, one of the cards with the most card text in the game, and then immediately seeing DOOM DONUTS made me howl with laughter. I'll talk about each card in a bit of detail here.
*Shiba-Warrior Taro* was a card illustrated by Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of the manga, based on Takahashi's actual Shiba Inu, Taro.
*The Calculator* was used in some One Turn Kill strategies, but it's very niche.
*Lorelei, the Symphonic Arsenal* is a "Match Winner" promotional card, given to winners of the 2008 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship. It's illegal for tournament play because if Lorelei would reduce an opponent's Life Points to 0 in Game 1 of a best-of-3, a player would just win the best-of-3... which could lead to people surrendering right before the attack goes through, and judges being called.
*Toadally Awesome* is either loved or hated by the community. It is very obnoxious in its effects, especially that the Deck it's made for can make it every turn (and it can recycle itself if it gets sent to the Graveyard).
*Number 99: Utopia Dragonar* is meant to be support for the "Utopia" set of cards, which is mostly about the card "Number 39: Utopia", which is a "Number" monster that can be made easily by 2 Level 4 monsters.
*Last Warrior from Another Planet* is usually cheated out at the end of a combo, with its effects negated for the turn so that it doesn't destroy the player's own monsters. Even then, it's kind of niche at the moment, but if it happens, the opponent's basically just hoping to draw into a kill card.
*Floodgate Trap Hole* is a really good card in the mobile Yu-Gi-Oh! spinoff, "Duel Links", but has not seen much competitive play in the card game recently.
*Mind Haxorz* is just a joke card, honestly. Spending a card just for knowledge is too steep of a cost for competitive decks.
*Ojama King*, the fusion of *Black*, *Green*, and *Yellow*, locks down 3 of your opponent's 5 Main Monster Zones, meaning they can only summon 2 monsters in their Main Monster Zones.
*Bottomless Trap Hole* has been a competitive staple for the early years of Yu-Gi-Oh!, but died out of play eventually, since Trap Cards have to be Set for your turn before you can use them, which are now seen as too slow. ...Most of the time.
*Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon* is a very controversial card in the current metagame, and some people are asking for it to be banned because it can be easily Summoned by another monster's effect, just by sending a Spell (Red-Eyes Fusion, specifically), "Dark Magician", and "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" from your Deck to your Graveyard.
*Nirvana High Paladin* has seen no use in the competitive metagame, and most people who play Yu-Gi-Oh! still don't know what it does; they only know it has some of the longest card text in the game.
*Koalo-Koala* was probably used as a target for "Magical Scientist" back when that First Turn Kill wasn't banned. Nowadays, it's not used at all.
*Flipping the Table* is actually a weird anime-exclusive card that's been in a few Yu-Gi-Oh! video games.
*Doom Donuts* has a Flip Effect, which means you have to Set it face-down before it's flipped face-up to activate the effect. That effect then triggers when it's flipped, no matter when it happens; even if it's being attacked and you have to reveal it by flipping it up, it just destroys everything that has a 0 in its stats.
*Pot of Greed* is banned, probably because everyone in the anime had to keep explaining it every time it was used because it was so complicated.
*Supreme King Z-ARC* looks completely different card-wise between the card game and anime. Plus, it's actually worse than one of its "Supreme King Dragon" servants, because "Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom" is banned for a First Turn Kill.
Also, *Hungry Burger* and *World Carrotweight Champion* are real cards. You even have to Summon Hungry Burger with a card named *Hamburger Recipe*. Hungry Burger is one of the biggest joke cards of the game.

The “thing/effect” is akin to “creature - thing” and tells it it has an effect, which the text then tells us. Normal monsters don’t have effects, and cards can ask for normal/effect/etc so that distinction does matter. Pendulum, Xyz, fusion, synchro, link, and ritual are also different types of cards which all have different requirements to bring out. The stars are closer to mana cost than wishes, but 4 or less, 5&6, and 7&8 are the thresholds for normal summoning, where 4 or less take nothing to summon, 5&6 needs one monster to be sacrificed for it, and more than that take two monsters. Effects can say I’m wrong, as lorelei shows.
Edit: thought after the fact that I could describe pendulum monsters (mr. novel in many boxes) as “enchantment creature”. Also, normal/tribute summons are akin to “land for turn”.

Hey, Utopia Dragonar only lets you use each of its effects once per turn, so it can only reduce one of your opponents attacking monsters atk to 0 oer turn, plus despite having high stats and being easy to cheat out with its related cards, it's easy to kill because any removal spell or effect can pop it, and every single Yugioh deck has tons of them. Hope this helps explain why it's not broken or even played at all, and the 3+ Level 12 monsters are what you put under it as a cost to summon it from your extra deck (face down command zone).

      @SakuraAvalon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

To be fair, MtG was the inspiration for the card game in the manga, which later was adapted into the Yu-Gi-Oh! we know, via Konami.
That said, calling it a 'clone', is pretty idiotic.

    • @DenTehMan
      @DenTehMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@SakuraAvalon Yep. Just to name a few differences...
You can have infinite permanents in MTG. You can have only up to 5 (6 if you count the Extra Monster Zone, and either 7 or 8 if you count the Pendulum Zones) monsters in play, and up to 5 Spell/Traps (MTG: noncreature nonland permanents) this, I believe, is what caused the confusion regarding Ojama King's effect.
In MTG, you attack once, but with all of your chosen attacking creatures at a time. In YGO, each monster attacks individually.
In MTG, attacks are declared to the opponent (YGO: directly) and the opponent chooses whether or not to block. In YGO, attacks are declared to an opponent's monster (MTG: directly).
In MTG, any extra damage done to blocking creatures is wasted unless if the blocked creature has trample. In YGO, excess damage is dealt to the opponent if the attacked monster is in Attack Position and its ATK is lower. It's complicated if you don't get it, but eh.
In MTG, creatures have Summoning Sickness, which disallows them to attack or use their own tap abilities when put into play (which to this day still makes me wonder why this isn't just called summon. I mean, it IS called Summoning Sickness...) unless they have haste. In YGO, only a select type of monster card (not monster Type, that's something entirely different. Yep, it's complicated) and a select few monsters outside this category have this. Most other monsters can attack and do whatever they can in the same turn. And that's why YGO doesn't have a Battle Phase (MTG: combat phase) on turn 1.
Oh, and of course... YGO has no Mana costs. Costs in YGO are done by paying Life Points, discarding and/or banishing (MTG: exiling) cards, Tributing (MTG: sacrificing) monsters, and otherwise sending your cards from one place to another.
It also has a lot of mechanics that can be as confusing as Banding, if not moreso. Pendulum Monsters are a fantastic example of this.

"flipping the table" is a thing in the anime and it's from the "dizzy" archetype that focuses entirely on hot sauce and alcoholism(it's an archetype that only shows up in the anime) it was used by Chumleys dad who ran a hot sauce factory/brewery in the 2nd series(yugioh GX which also happens to be the series the Ojamas originated from) and Chumley is the one who uses the Koala cards(and he kinda looks and acts like a Koala come to think of it) and the episode the archetype showed up in was episode 9 of season 1 "family business" where Chumley had to duel his old man to keep attending "duel academy"(a sort of college built by Kaiba)
so it's technically not a fake card it just only appears in the anime along with "dizzy" angel and "dizzy" tiger

Contrast to the activation condition of Needle Ceiling, "Activate only if there are 4 or more monsters on the field : Destroy all face-up monsters." Also summoning monsters sometimes are related to levels because they need requirements to summon them one way or another,

    @LordTyph 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Terms to know before the list.
Level: See those stars near the top? The number corresponds to the card's level. 1-4 can be normal summoned with no issue, 5-6 need to tribute a monster (send a creature to the graveyard/discard pile in order to summon it), 7 and up need 2 monsters.
Type: Warrior, spellcaster, Fiend, Aqua, Thunder, ect. Basically, this be what the monster is.
Attribute: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light, Darkness, and Divine. This is what element the card is linked to.
Archetype: Cards generally linked by a common name. Examples include Dark Magician, Stardust, Synchron, HERO, Utopia, Number(s), ect.
Material: Cards used for summoning other monsters. In the case of XYZ monsters, they go under the card to be used as fuel for their effects when applicable. Thus, Utopic Dragonair would use one of the cards used as material for its effect activation.
Extra Deck Monsters: Fusion (purple, requires you to send two specific monsters listed on the card to the grave, usually, and often comes with a requisite field spell), Synchro (requires a Tuner and non-tuner monster with levels matching the card (and sometimes specific requirements for the Synchro material)), XYZ monsters (overlay monsters of the same level, again with specific requirements for type and attribute at times), Pendulum (goes to the extra deck upon destruction, face-up, and can be set as spell cards on the far ends of the board (with their own effects when set as spells) to allow Pendulum Summoning (take the numbers for both scales in each pendulum zone, summon out monsters with levels between those two numbers)), and Link (just send whatever monsters, so long as the materials work for the monster itself, with Link monsters counting up to their Link rating for this purpose).
Now that the basics are out of the way...
    1. Literally what? Yeah, don't expect this even in table 500 unless someone really loves this card)
    2. Meme card used in OTK decks (and even then, not high level ones). You just bring out high level boys for unga bunga caveman OTK (levels go all the way up to 12 and there's cards you can bring out that are high level but don't need tributes so long as you're fine with a nerfed stat line).
    3. Banned because cards like these are a headache in tournament play since people just surrender instead of letting them attack for game, ruining the fun.
    4. Respect the Toad, fear the Toad. If a deck can break out Bahamut Shark (Rank 4 monster brought out by using two level 4 water monsters), you WILL be seeing this card and it WILL interrupt your plays AND stealing that really powerful card you tried to use.
    5. Utopia isn't coming from Ancient Egypt, it's coming from interplanetary warfare. Also, this card doesn't get seen too much in my limited experience, Utopia has better cards like Beyond and Ultimate Leo. Or just Utopia Ray in a pinch thanks to the ZW Archetype.
    6. Cards got banned in the past because of this guy. If you don't have spells to destroy it or removal/negation that doesn't need a monster on field (or don't rely on monsters due to being Mystic Mine), you just lose.
    7. Still relevant in Duel Links. In the proper card game, only relevant if you play the Traptrix archetype. Facedown cards can't activate their effects or be used as material for Synchro, XYZ, or Link plays, meaning they clog up the board, meaning it interrupts the flow of your opponent's plays and you're often able to eliminate it at your leisure.
    8. Useless. You're better off playing something like Mind Crush, which actually lets you rip a card out of your opponent's hand.
    9. Most relevant in either Ojama (where it can flip its attack to 3k with the archetype field spell) or degenerate lockdown due to its effect denying monster card slots, meaning you can't even summon a monster (since you only get 5 and, with the addition of Ojama Knight, which can block off two more monster zones, you can jam it all up).
    10. See 7, just less relevant since some cards LIKE being destroyed or banished.
    11. Behold, one of the nightmare cards you saw everywhere thanks to Predaplant Anaconda Verte (pay 2k life to send a fusion spell and use it as the monster's effect, at the cost of stopping other summons after that for the turn + Red Eyes Fusion, which sends monsters from the deck to fuse for Red eyes fusion monsters.). Negation, disruption, burn, and big beatstick. Very little to hate when you control it and much to loathe on the other end of it.
    12. Used in the anime and maybe used in pendulum decks. That's it.
    13. Very weak in today's meta, especially due to specific material requirements in decks not Dark Magician, Red Eyes, Blue Eyes, or so on.
    14. Anime gimmick card used by a _hot sauce guy_
    15. Don't expect to see this ever. If a flip monster isn't a Krawler, Shaddoll, Subterror, or so on, it's not making it, they're too slow now.
    16. -No idea what this does.- The draw card EVERY draw card wants to be.
    17. Be very grateful this thing was nerved in the real game (the version you read off of), the Anime version was far more nightmarish.
18 and 19. Hungry Burger's a lol gimmick, Heavy Carrotweight Champion has some use in Rikka, which LOVES tributing its Plant-type monsters and being tributed.

stars: level of creature. 5 or 6 monsters require one sacrifice 7 or more require 2. 3 or more tributes are required when stated.
short explanation of cards types. some are too long to explain and are very confusing to new players.
    normal: vanilla
    effect: has an effect
tuner: used to summon a synchro monster
flip: has an effect when flipped up (similar to morph)
spirit: return to your hand at end of turn (similar to dash)
ritual: requires a ritual spell card to summon and sacrafing/discarding monsters
fusion: combines two or more monsters by sending them to the graveyard using a spell card or effect unless stated otherwise.
synchro: combine two monsters or more monsters, one tuner and one or more non tuner normally, to bring out.
xyz: combine two or more monsters with the same level bring out. the monsters are put behind the summoned monster as materials (they are basically counters for effects)
pendulum: too complicated for short version
link: too complicated for short version.
honestly.... this game is too complicated and the show literally had a school for it back when it was just normal, ritual, and fusion monsters.

As an ex-Yu-Gi-Oh! player, (2002-2009, because I stopped playing around the time I went to college) I can help translate. So, the symbol in the top right is the monster's attribute (FIRE, WATER, EARTH, WIND, LIGHT, DARK). It's basically which element it is, which is sometimes referenced on other cards. The "dragon balls" are basically a monster's *sigh* "power level". Monsters level 1-4 can be summoned without having to sacrifice another monster card, (by the way, you can only Summon one monster each turn) 5-6 require one, and 7-8 require two. Then you have the monster's type, like Dragon, Spellcaster, etc. And while most monsters have effects these days, I remember cards like Blue-Eyes White Dragon not having effects but instead is all about having an impressive attack/defense for the time being. As far as setting a card goes, you just place it face-down. Horizontal for monsters, and vertically for Spells and Traps. FLIP monsters, as their name suggests, when they get attacked face-down, they flip over and do a thing. So that's pretty much it, but there's been all kinds of other monsters like Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum, (half-spell, half monster, the ones with the weird-ass arrows) and then "Link Monsters". Anyways, I'm glad I quit this game when I did, because unlike Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh! doesn't really let you build whatever deck you want to anymore. So there you go, I just wrote a book on how to read a Yu-Gi-Oh! card. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

A match is a best of 3 so if this card wins you the duel say game 1 of 3 then you automatically win the best of 3 and thats why its nit allowed in duels or more like not allowed in official duels
