My Aussie sleeps in his crate at night with the door open now. With the blankets it’s basically a cave at this point. I tried to take it away one night and he just sat where the crate was and stared at me.. 😂
SAME!!!! The other day I left him in his crate while I went to the grocery store for 20 mins with a blink camera on only to see him asleep on his back with his legs open and his stuffed raccoon next to him 😂 my mom was laughing so hard.
Great stuff..very helpful...best Aussie channel on the internet... We have an Aussie..she's now 2....great girl .. BUT...a bit hyper ..thanks to you.... we are learning to be different humans and adapt to her I play with her alot . THANKS 👍👍👍
Our Aussie can be left alone. She was crate trained early on and when we say "crate" she goes right in. She stays out in the house, with our 3 cats, when we are at work. She's overjoyed when one of us gets home. God, if only I could get one or two weeks off work, for anything.
love the video. Although I do not agree with what you say about leaving your new puppy for 8 hours alone on workdays. Even if someone else comes over to let it pee. It will get confused who the leader is and who is it's human. Especially if you want an aussie. My opinion is that you don't get an Aussie if you work 8 hours a day. It is a working breed. It has to 'work' a lot ofhours during the day. Not just briefly in the evening when you have time between dinner and sleep. Do not get an Aussie if YOU do not have the time to train and exercise your dog yourself! The 4 links to the courses do not work. Can I see / watch / read them somewhere?? We are going to get a puppy and I want to be fully educated before that moment.
My Aussie gets left alone and had full run in the house at 5 months along with my other two dogs. She also slept with me from the time she was 8 weeks old. She would cuddle up with my one dog on the bed. She had stairs to get off of the bed and she used them to go to a potty pad in the bathroom. She is a good girl and will still go to a potty pad I have down for my one dog who has medical problems that give her incontinence problems if she is took short.
Any help with an aussie puppy who cries and howls as soon as soon as he's left alone in a crate? Can be upstairs for 10 minutes or an hour and he still cries the whole time
i have a aussie neutered male almost 2 years old and he is great in any situation but he doesn't like the saw at lowes when they cut wood for you. he doesn't run or try to hide it just startles him when it is turned on. He also has a mutt to play with him..
I just adopted Nova, she is 2 months old and is constantly “herding” the two house cats- who are scared of her. We are slowly introducing them and creating boundaries, but I cannot get puppy to stop going in the litter room to eat the pine pellet litter. I am also worried about the stress she is giving the cats as they are scared to roam the house and their routines have been changed, do you have any advice or suggestions? ❤️
@@j3licat still no solution lol. The puppy loves cats, and is great with both of my parents cats, but mine have never been around a dog 🙁 I’ve tried getting treats and rewarding them for sitting closely and being nice, but this rarely happens
@@katelyn3385 It's so frustrating! My pup ignores cats on our walks and my friend's cat, but gets insanely excited around our own cat. I'm trying the baby gate method of desensitized both of them. I'd be heart broken to give up this dog.
My 13 year old cat got along great with my childhood dog, but when she passed away he was left as “king of the house” for 3 years before my parents got their Swiss shepherd puppy. She loved chasing the cat, which he detested obviously, but after a while she lost interest and he learned to mostly stay in high perched places like the top of the couch, or on the stairs (where his food bowl is and is behind a child barrier gate), or on our laps. They both cohabitate really well but you’ll never see them cuddle haha, but that’s far from meaning they hate each other. It’s just takes time and distracting the pup with something else when he starts going for the cat and helping him understand that the cat is no and a toy or activity is yes.
@@nor5196 I've had dog and cats at the same time since I was a kid. Some pairs would snuggle together, but mostly they just coexisted. We made progress yesterday with a couple good pet meetings with our 9 year old kitty. Our puppy was able to calm down and obey his "stay" and "leave it" commands like a champ. I think pup is mostly just curious.

I'm a trucker so my babygirl is with me daily all day...she's just a puppy just turned 10 weeks
Same and he doesn't seem to mind! The car is his "crate" and he jumps right in every time. Best co pilot
Hey man great info! But I have a question what food brand do you recommend feeding my mini Aussie?

Leave alone for awhile but not everyday for 8-9 hours !! I feel guilty when I leave my dog other than a little while

Dame here but not as bad
Can I leave my dogs in the yard outside? They have access to the porch! I don't see anyone doing that anymore.
What if for 6 yrs they have hardley been left alone because you don't work? Now they have serious anxiety and neediness

I'm dealing with the same thing right now. My pup is 4 months old and my cat is terrified. Did you find a solution?
