The step-overs helped, they were nerfed which would be OK if they also changed some defensive stuff but they didn't, making running around with 1CDM 1-depth more OP. Im in division 1 since the first week of fifa 21 and I fully agree with everything he says. In all those weeks I play in div 1 I've played every match against people who dont even deserve to be alive. L1 fake shot+croqueta for 90 mins with ronaldo neymar mbappe and rashford with varane and joe gomez at the back. Theres no fun in playing fifa these days and I doubt if there is something EA can and will do about it.

I stopped playing a few weeks ago. Happens every year. When you realize you’re not playing against your opponent, you’re playing against EA and and the poor gameplay, it’s time to be done and stop stressing.
Sold my traded up for 1.5 Million Team 2 weeks ago and quit the game. It’s been a solid, productive 2 weeks with no stress. Life has been better I can honestly say. I would never even be happy when I won, just relieved of all the previous stress as if I just dodged a bullet.
Stop buying the game man, I quit after Fifa 20, I really don't feel like I'm missing anything special. Playing a lot more fun and consistent games now and I'm happy.

I played a guy who parked the bus and I had 13 shots on goal and 13 blocks by his AI defenders and he counters me and scores every chance he had and then he wasted time after that goal and kept the ball in the back. This game was good on launch day and then after the first patch, this game became the 2nd worst FIFA of all time. With the same nonsense players and theirs no skill gap. People who just started playing FIFA can beat people who have been playing this game for decades. I hate EA they just want money.

Remember when EA sold this game on how Manual defending would be more rewarding... EA needed to remove custom tactics full stop, just keep player instructions. The tactics are too toxic and is ruining the game. I often just quit the game champs inc if I face someone playing this game toxic using exploits to try and be successful at the game, I guess my problem is I refuse to play this way because I want to play football how it’s played in real life.

Here is one thing, a person playing with certain formation and tactics, after 6 or 9 matches in fut, suddenly your players become slow and players are sliding like ice skating until you stop the game and change to a different formation than your opponent become slow and you score and win. Complete joke
i`ve gone down to div 5 and i`m having so much fun. friendlies based on SR and rank1 in rivals are so much fun now. i`m able to use fun players now like falcao, david silva, coman, kounde inaki, zaha etc. Not even touching champs. I recomand doing this to everyone. Good luck with the content dude!
This should be made viral. For someone my age that has been playing fifa since 94 I couldn't have said it any better myself. Its a travesty this game year after year. As long as the COMMUNITY keeps spending $$$ there's no reason for them to change the game. Rinse and repeat. The community needs to bond together and make a stand for the better of a video game. I gave up after Fifa 2020, I got fed up having more shots and more possession then the scripting would take over during the second half and help the other player out. I then tried it myself for several matches, first half I played s**t, gave the ball away, I then found during the second half my players would be over powered and score easily, I didn't want to play a game that is scripted as F**k. Love football, but don't miss Fifa, I have lots more spare time to do other things.
This is why I stopped playing. Fifa need a overhaul quick and fast it's boring the way people play. People have no creativeness when attacking but can put the pad basically down.

Players took at least two seconds to pass, and I’ve never seen a game play so slow. Games a joke. They cater it to new/trash players or ones that simply fill their pockets with FP. EA says they care about gameplay but they don’t, when they make billions each year on FP. It’s no point in play this game when my opponents are ripping driven passes, crosses snd through balls on counters down the pitch hoping someone gets it. It’s just sad. Defending is also pointless. As far as upgrades go: Felix gold is an 81 His inform is 84 His potm is 87 Assuming he does get an upgrade, which is likely, in order for the inform to increase in rating, the newly upgraded base gold card MUST BE AT LEAST 84 rated thereby making the inform increase +1 in rating in order to stay ahead of the newly upgraded card. The same goes for his potm, he’d have to get a +5 rating in order for the potm to get an upgrade as well. In this situation though, he would not need to match the rating of his potm for it to be upgraded as he has a previous special card (his inform) in between his base gold and his potm thus providing a +1 rating buffer This means that assuming Felix was upgraded to an 86 rated gold card at winter upgrades, his inform would also increase to stay +1, AND his potm would also increase +1 to stay ahead of all previous cards. Therefore, after upgrade: Base gold Felix 86 Inform Felix 87 Potm Felix 88 All of this implies he no longer receives any special cards until winter refresh upgrades. Also the rules apply a tad differently to upgradable headliners (when/if they come) and road to the final cards

Here I am struggling to defend them through balls. Even when I right stick switch early enough, the attackers are literally flash! They somehow out run my defenders. And my defenders are Militao and Nacho. Aren’t they good enough? Everytime I concede on the counter
100% Correct again Inception. I thought at the start of the game it seemed an improvement on the last few years, but it's seems to be getting worse again with all these patches etc... I changed my formation in game to 352 with 7 depth just to try and make it fun, but even then, the blocks, defensive AI, pass registration make the game not enjoyable at all, year on year we get sucked in. Keep up the great content, I only watch you and Nick, both very good 👍
My theory is that they always start making defensive AI OP once TOTY is close because they know if they don't, these cards will just blitz past defences like some Marvel Superhero. IMO TOTY ruins the game because they are such OP cards in the stage of the game where most ppl will still be using a gold Varane and it will be impossible to defend against these God tier cards if they don't beef up the defensive AI. What do you guys think?
Was a hardcore fut player. Fifa 17 and 18 was my last. Elite 2 player here .I have the game but play casual. This is going on for years. No is no and I am feeling content with my inner peace

Interesting comment and likely accurate as well. Year after year I continue to really enjoy the gameplay during the first month or two only to see everything about the game that I previously liked patched around Christmas time. Hopefully gameplay will be much improved next patch.

The first week of Fifa 21 was so fun. Everything was working right and you had so many ways to attack. EA has continuously released patches and nerfed attacking skills and kept making the game more defensive. It’s like Fifa 20 all over again

Here's a tip. Use players with visions over 87 and use long ball. I use luis alberto, eriksen, mertens as CAM and dybala as striker. Instead of running around the field trigger run is working just fine and these players with higher vision can easily break through the defensive AI. Also you can do driven cross and score. Chances of losing the ball also reduces significantly. Needless to say these CAMs are my favorite. Haha.😉
I'm in Division 3 with the worst game ratio of any FUT since I picked FIFA back up in 2010 when PES died. The gameplay is inconsistent because they want to finesse average players into buying packs to improve their teams. They want you to feel like you need to buy consistency, which average players never can - and it's disgusting.
Honestly wouldn’t mind parking the bus or playing against people who do. BUT when I seem to defend literally every goal seems to come from a tackle from MY player makes, like I tackle and the ball always magically goes into the path of an oncoming opponent player, easy first touch finish. It’s impossible to counter.
I agree with everything. I was actually somewhat enjoying this game about two weeks ago. Over the last two weeks I’ve gradually got more and more frustrated with it. Found myself playing less and less to the point where I don’t really want to play champs tomorrow. Tried playing some objectives today but got tired of it after a couple of games. This is the earliest in any Fifa cycle that I’ve given up on champs and I’m ready to play different games. Sure I’ll be back at some time, but this is too early for people to be giving up on the only football game.

I concede a lot more goals but I find it a lot more enjoyable losing a game 4-5 than winning 1-0 through some fluke counter attack goal in the 85th minute
Honestly it’s so frustrating that in order to get these elite level results or even just really good results, EA basically tells you, you either have to be a skiller in FIFA or screw you, you will forever be avg to below avg at the game. The fact that just b/c a player has 5 star skill moves is worth 10x the amount to a 3-4 star skiller is beyond me. Like if you watch a lot of TH-camrs play the game, you will see a lot of them just use skill moves to get past 4-5 defenders and will have a wide open player to pass the ball 2, yet they dont. People are so brainwashed into believing that the only way to score is through a 4-5 star skiller they dont even know how to basically attack with their offense so they get bailed out by cheap op ass skillmoves instead of using the team to attack
Yeah that and also overtime keeps on going if you and the other team are in attack. 2 minutes can go as far as 5 minutes. Hope EA lose in court for scripting.

I played rivals last night and matched against a guy who happily let me have 80% possession. I won 3-2, from 2 shots he got 2 goals. Funny thing is I could tell he could play if he wanted to but chose not to. How can you have FUN playing with only 20% of the ball? Like Inception said, if I had to play like that I'd delete the game.
I played the 10 hour trial, and decided there and then I wasn't buying it. Was too similar to fifa20 at that point in terms of gameplay. It's now got to a stage where it's actually worse than fifa20 ever was. So glad I never purchased it.
in ultimate team it will always be counter attack because it takes two pass to get to the other box and if you choose to do actual build your teammates don't really move so it becomes a a stagnant back and forth in the middle plus the risk of the counter so the sweats just choose the easy counter option

I stopped playing a few weeks ago. Happens every year. When you realize you’re not playing against your opponent, you’re playing against EA and and the poor gameplay, it’s time to be done and stop stressing.
Sold my traded up for 1.5 Million Team 2 weeks ago and quit the game. It’s been a solid, productive 2 weeks with no stress. Life has been better I can honestly say. I would never even be happy when I won, just relieved of all the previous stress as if I just dodged a bullet.

I played a guy who parked the bus and I had 13 shots on goal and 13 blocks by his AI defenders and he counters me and scores every chance he had and then he wasted time after that goal and kept the ball in the back. This game was good on launch day and then after the first patch, this game became the 2nd worst FIFA of all time. With the same nonsense players and theirs no skill gap. People who just started playing FIFA can beat people who have been playing this game for decades. I hate EA they just want money.

EA needed to remove custom tactics full stop, just keep player instructions. The tactics are too toxic and is ruining the game. The real inception is back!! Man, I stopped playing fut since mid November... It's unbearable! I started playing career mode ( I know it's lackluster). At least at that game mode I can play FOOTBALL.

Here is one thing, a person playing with certain formation and tactics, after 6 or 9 matches in fut, suddenly your players become slow and players are sliding like ice skating until you stop the game and change to a different formation than your opponent become slow and you score and win.

For someone my age that has been playing fifa since 94 I couldn't have said it any better myself. Its a travesty this game year after year. I gave up after Fifa 2020, I got fed up having more shots and more possession then the scripting would take over during the second half and help the other player out. I then tried it myself for several matches, first half I played s**t, gave the ball away, I then found during the second half my players would be over powered and score easily, I didn't want to play a game that is scripted as F**k. Love football, but don't miss Fifa, I have lots more spare time to do other things.

Been feeling the exact same way for weeks now, and really felt after a few games of WL. Couldn’t move or pass to save my life. Players took at least two seconds to pass, and I’ve never seen a game play so slow. Games a joke. They cater it to new/trash players or ones that simply fill their pockets with FP. EA says they care about gameplay but they don’t, when they make billions each year on FP. It’s no point in play this game when my opponents are ripping driven passes, crosses snd through balls on counters down the pitch hoping someone gets it. It’s just sad. Defending is also pointless. You simply don’t get reward for having sense in this game. Just a mini rant, but I feel your pain and frustration bro. Keep your head up and let’s hope things change. I think It's far more insidious than stupidity. They make the gameplay intentionally toxic...
As far as upgrades go:
Felix gold is an 81
His inform is 84
His potm is 87
Assuming he does get an upgrade, which is likely, in order for the inform to increase in rating, the newly upgraded base gold card MUST BE AT LEAST 84 rated thereby making the inform increase +1 in rating in order to stay ahead of the newly upgraded card.
The same goes for his potm, he’d have to get a +5 rating in order for the potm to get an upgrade as well.
In this situation though, he would not need to match the rating of his potm for it to be upgraded as he has a previous special card (his inform) in between his base gold and his potm thus providing a +1 rating buffer
This means that assuming Felix was upgraded to an 86 rated gold card at winter upgrades, his inform would also increase to stay +1, AND his potm would also increase +1 to stay ahead of all previous cards.
Therefore, after upgrade:
Base gold Felix 86
Inform Felix 87
Potm Felix 88
All of this implies he no longer receives any special cards until winter refresh upgrades.
Also the rules apply a tad differently to upgradable headliners (when/if they come) and road to the final cards

100% Correct again Inception. I thought at the start of the game it seemed an improvement on the last few years, but it's seems to be getting worse again with all these patches etc... I changed my formation in game to 352 with 7 depth just to try and make it fun, but even then, the blocks, defensive AI, pass registration make the game not enjoyable at all, year on year we get sucked in.

My theory is that they always start making defensive AI OP once TOTY is close because they know if they don't, these cards will just blitz past defences like some Marvel Superhero. IMO TOTY ruins the game because they are such OP cards in the stage of the game where most ppl will still be using a gold Varane and it will be impossible to defend against these God tier cards if they don't beef up the defensive AI. What do you guys think?

Interesting comment and likely accurate as well. Year after year I continue to really enjoy the gameplay during the first month or two only to see everything about the game that I previously liked patched around Christmas time. Hopefully gameplay will be much improved next patch.

The first week of Fifa 21 was so fun. Everything was working right and you had so many ways to attack. EA has continuously released patches and nerfed attacking skills and kept making the game more defensive. It’s like Fifa 20 all over again

Here's a tip. Use players with visions over 87 and use long ball. I use luis alberto, eriksen, mertens as CAM and dybala as striker. Instead of running around the field trigger run is working just fine and these players with higher vision can easily break through the defensive AI. Also you can do driven cross and score. Chances of losing the ball also reduces significantly. Needless to say these CAMs are my favorite. Haha.😉

I'm in Division 3 with the worst game ratio of any FUT since I picked FIFA back up in 2010 when PES died. The gameplay is inconsistent because they want to finesse average players into buying packs to improve their teams. They want you to feel like you need to buy consistency, which average players never can - and it's disgusting.

I agree with everything. I was actually somewhat enjoying this game about two weeks ago. Over the last two weeks I’ve gradually got more and more frustrated with it. Found myself playing less and less to the point where I don’t really want to play champs tomorrow. Tried playing some objectives today but got tired of it after a couple of games. This is the earliest in any Fifa cycle that I’ve given up on champs and I’m ready to play different games. Sure I’ll be back at some time, but this is too early for people to be giving up on the only football game.

I concede a lot more goals but I find it a lot more enjoyable losing a game 4-5 than winning 1-0 through some fluke counter attack goal in the 85th minute

Honestly it’s so frustrating that in order to get these elite level results or even just really good results, EA basically tells you, you either have to be a skiller in FIFA or screw you, you will forever be avg to below avg at the game. The fact that just b/c a player has 5 star skill moves is worth 10x the amount to a 3-4 star skiller is beyond me. Like if you watch a lot of TH-camrs play the game, you will see a lot of them just use skill moves to get past 4-5 defenders and will have a wide open player to pass the ball 2, yet they dont. People are so brainwashed into believing that the only way to score is through a 4-5 star skiller they dont even know how to basically attack with their offense so they get bailed out by cheap op ass skillmoves instead of using the team to attack

I played rivals last night and matched against a guy who happily let me have 80% possession. I won 3-2, from 2 shots he got 2 goals. Funny thing is I could tell he could play if he wanted to but chose not to. How can you have FUN playing with only 20% of the ball? Like Inception said, if I had to play like that I'd delete the game.
I played the 10 hour trial, and decided there and then I wasn't buying it. Was too similar to fifa20 at that point in terms of gameplay. It's now got to a stage where it's actually worse than fifa20 ever was. So glad I never purchased it.
in ultimate team it will always be counter attack because it takes two pass to get to the other box and if you choose to do actual build your teammates don't really move so it becomes a a stagnant back and forth in the middle plus the risk of the counter so the sweats just choose the easy counter option
