This is a great video Fab. I love "airplanes are built to fly and behave better in the air, than on the ground so you take the problem into the air". Also, the departure brief. I say it to myself, especially in a challenging environment. Lastly, I like to say people are more likely to ask about the boat, than ask about the captain. Best, Don

Although I agree in part, and can't speak for the entire GA Jet sector, as a former Airline captain of major European Flag Carriers, and the last 10 yrs in the fractional owner private jet sector, I have personally experienced the training and safety culture of the largest fleet management corporations. I can assure you they are airline standard, or above ;)

A friend of mine flies for Alba Servizi in Italy (Berlusconi family) and they run the flight department like an airline.

@@BizJetTV Yes I've run into them in Milan several times :) In general, suspect the risk factor is inversely proportional to the managemant structure around it .

certainty airline safety records work as a benchmark, in general terms, but what they do for safety is only acording to the accepted "industry standards", while in executive aviation you can build your sop's based on those same industry standards, and add to those, "best practices" that airlines do not adhere due to the increase in costs.
While the video's explanation is not questionable, there are those who are "the good, the bad, and the ugly", in both sectors.

    Did they attempt to rotate?

+1,200gal of Jet A thats almost 4 tons/8,000 lbs of JetA. Why not depart with half that (4,000 lbs less) and have a refuel stop?

Each incident has multiple factors thats exactly what was needed but the pilots got complacent

Exactly was crossed my mind. Why take off in such limited resources? Get away from colorado, land somewhere low then refuel.

Id seriously reconsider taking off with 200 feet remaining in a cessna much less a jet 🗿

Lots of take-offs are planned with the BFL that close.

Ya 2 totally different numbers. Bfl is a go and stop and go and go distance not a takeoff distance in a Cessna ,

@@tymatt4555 we are speaking of jet take-offs, balanced field is appropriate. Don’t compare Part 25 with Part 23

@@GLEX234 I was trying to put into Lam-ins terms what balanced field length is.. not get into a performance discussion and defined v1,v2 etc., or difference of par 23,25 etc.
Guess it didn’t come across. But yes jets take off every day within 200ft of BFL.

Not 5 Ps in the military. Almost as many as Birdseye. Including an extra one before poor performance. 😂😂😂

Exactly true. I know a 135 pilot with the worst ADHD I've ever seen who's an alcoholic to boot. Blackout drunk on the first day at work with a new company (after landing, fortunately). Still, he has no shortage of job offers.

One thing I disagree with is that private jet pilots are terrible. It depends and I can point you airlines that have recently had a poor track record. They are more focused on DEI than safety.

    • @BizJetTV
      @BizJetTV  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

you have a valid point. The way airline pilot recruitment is going we are headed towards more crashes. This is where if you buy your own jet, you are in control of pilot hiring and training.

And there is another thing that is observable in the private aviation with regard to pilots coming from the airlines.. while barely most of them perform better than the average GA pilot, i would say that almost half of this migration performs "as bad as" the average GA pilot because there is no FOQA watching over their shoulders anymore

Seems to be a lot of comments on this video fro European pilots stating that corporate jet pilots have the same standards as airline pilots. I assure you as a pilot living and flying in the US, that there are some dubious standards amongst a small group of pilots flying here part 91. It’s related to the ‘pilot shortage’ where warm bodies are preferred to high standards and skill sets.

Sounds like a couple of pilots don’t have jobs.

A pilot that forgets to set takeoff flaps should have his license suspended and made to retrain from model airplanes and up.
