PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola in Whistler 360 Experience
The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is a tri-cable gondola lift located in Whistler, British Columbia that links Whistler Mountain's Roundhouse Lodge with Blackcomb Mountain's Rendezvous Lodge. It is the first lift to join the two side-by-side mountains. It held the world record for the longest free span between ropeway towers-3.03 kilometres (1.88 miles) until 2017 when the Eibsee Cable Car exceeded it by 189m. It is still the highest point above the ground-436 metres.

I was freaking out the first time I went on one because I was with my family and my neighbour and his family and he was telling me that the gondola was going to fall

Amazing views! This segment was down for maintenance when I went to Whistler unfortunately.

Because they get hurricane like winds and with a cable that has too much slack could have it swing and break
They were also on a timelimit as the olympics neared they needed 8km of cable so the shorter the cable the cheaper and less time they take to manufacture

This is not the worlds highest Gondola, the lift is only 1,427 feet & 3.03Km, where as India's Gulmarg Gondola lift is 13,450 Feet & 4.2Km
