if samson had a tip jar for me to donate money for a mic stand, i woudl give a solid 5$CAD. Great content as always samson, I was worried IQ would not fit in well when he came back.

every championship is a unique story. i don't think any of them can be replicated. Raptors can't build through free agency. If it's not tanking then it will have to be smart trades and drafting really well later in the draft. Likelihood of that working is also small.

Mr Folk, Olynyk did lead the Jazz in steals with 60. It wasn't even close. Can't find the deflection reference but I believe he was the leader. He also dominated in charges taken. You might want to take a longer look at his game, there's more to defense than verticality.

Oh, didn't know you were referencing totals instead of per game - most people use per game, but I did take your comment seriously and go look
Also, probably easier to say we disagree instead of insinuating I don't watch close enough, or that I don't know what to look for while watching defense. Completely unearned condescension haha

Tim Duncan is the great tanking story, but that tank was brought on by injuries

I get what you're saying, but Championship FMVP is a pretty strict qualifier

everyone keeps saying the Raptors need to tank for a championship #1 so I think it's an apt qualifier for the convo
I understand the convo can widen to cost control etc. pretty quickly, just not seeing it often. I think I'll actually try and find consensus parameters then really get into the weeds on it eventually

@@samsonfolk2946 What about the future potential FMVPs? I'll admit it's a bit of the mystery box thing, but damn just imagine adding an Ant, Luka or whoever you want to this team. For free!!

@@freemanpang9030 definitely! and I like doing draft coverage, covering young guys, and I genuinely don't think I'm dispelling the value of high picks, just pushing back against the "tanking is obvious, it's the best, other things don't work" wave of sentiment

Some of these fans are just hype over new talents every yr based on highlight reels. I have news for them Harper, Ace, Flagg or Igor ain't coming in here to make Raptors a sudden contender. Wemby the supposedly next generational talent after Lebron was not able to win more games than the Spurs did the prior yr. In fact, they had the same number of wins (22)& this year it is taking vets like CP3 & Harrison Barnes to drive some wins. Some of these fans were callibg for Jaboke & Rob D last yr this time. Guess what we got Jakobe at 19 & Rob is currently riding the pine in Minny.

No one thinks that any rookie is going to make the Raptor’s sudden contenders, but they will (hopefully) raise their ceiling, and that’s the entire point.

@highdough2712 This is not what I am seeing & hearing on social media platforms. Many think that Ace, Flagg or Harper will come in & dethrone Scottie as the #1 option & get us back to playoff contention.

Agree. We don't need another Scottie. We need players to augment & complement SB's game.

Judging by the club so far. Still some carry over problems from last year. Missed free throws, wild turnovers and terrible perimeter defence hurt this team. The talent still needs to get better. I would like to see Mogbo getting more minutes. Dick, Barrett, Barnes and Poeltl have been good. Agbaji has been a really good story as he is improving. Battle looks like a good shooter but defence still a weakness. Worried about Quickly lack of availability carry over from last year to now this year. Thinking it was a big mistake giving this guy the bag and years. Really don’t like Smead or Mitchell as undersized guards who can’t shoot. Team needs to move off of Boucher and Brown expiring contracts and be surprised at this point if they are tradable or straight-up buyouts at the end. This team is at the bottom and its no surprise.
