I loved this wonderful funny lady growing up. There is so much material and TV appearances I've never seen before. I'm binging on Minnie! Thanks for posting.
My grandmother that just passed away lived with mr. brasfield and his wife for several years when she was a teenager. She lost her mother at 15 months and later she was asked to come live with them.
I am so glad you posted this. Minnie pearl was such a funny, adorable lady. I sure do miss her. Thank goodness for videos like this to remember her with. I had an aunt who looked like she could be minnies sister. Folks used to joke about that. One time at a big family picnic someone saw her, stood with mouth open, and swore it was minnie. I was so glad she was asked to be on Hee-Haw. That was a blessing.
Rod was born at Smithville, Mississippi and he was buried there as well. I visited his grave years ago. He died while visiting Martin, Tn promoting the Andy Griffith movie (A face in the crowd). He performed in that movie. ❤
Thank you so much Milton for this Minnie Pearl & Rod Brasfield show.My moma really did enjoy watchin it.She wants me to pull stuff up for her and came across something u had put on here!!! We're the same ones that watched your Hank Williams funeral video.God bless you.
I enjoyed this very much. Rod Brasfield looks and sounds so much like his older brother, Laurence (Boob) Brasfield, other than the age difference is obvious when you see them. His older brother played the character, "Uncle Cyp" Brasfield on the ABC TV show(s) "Ozark Jubilee"-"Jubilee USA" in the late 50s and the NBC show "5-Star Jubilee".
When I was young I thought that this stuff was so lame and corny. Now-I think that these were totally professional, serious performers. Much more theatrical than the musicians now. Much funnier and more entertaining. Much less self conscious.
Milton Welch? You're not a Vic & Sade fan, are you? I've heard Rod Brasfield on some old radio shows & was curious to see what he looked like. Interestingly he looks a lot like Art Carney. They even have a lot of the same facial expressions.

How could you not love Minnie? Thanks. I hadn't seen Rod before. They were great together!
Rod lived in Hohenwald and he was known as the Hohenwald Flash. My grandfather Elliot played pool with Rod often. Good Ole Hohenwald ❤ my hometown.
Down home goodness...sweet & wholesome. Ty~♡~
They were great together. Lot of spontaneity.
