I'm currently doing a playthrough trying to use every prize car from Special Conditions in at least one event. Infiniti FX45 on Stars and Stripes, HCD6 in Hyundai Sports Festival, Mitsubishi Pajero Rally Raid at Japanese Compact Cup (no, seriously), that sort of thing. I just started the Bluebird at World Classics, and got a Special in 2nd position. Wish me luck
I was originally going to use the Pajero for the 80's Japan Festival before realizing it only allows production cars. Checking what events don't have the restriction just so happened to lead to this discovery, which was a funny realization. The Nurburgring race might as well be a 2nd Mission 34 with my skill level and hardware, with having to reset my console every time I don't feel like the run was good enough taking 2 minutes for another attempt. Do you have any driving tips for this race? Like when's the best time to activate Nitro?
My strategy was basically to be within slipstream range of the Special as soon as possible, ideally around Adenauer Forst, so I was quite aggressive with NOS usage in the first couple minutes. Once I was in the lead, I could preserve NOS for emergencies, using whatever I had left for the final straight. The stage 3 turbo + NOS makes it much easier, I just chose to use the stage 2 since the car needs the low-end torque for Monaco and I prefer how it drives with a relatively flat torque curve.
I completely forgot you can swap turbos for different results, and I just made that extra tip comment for different sets on the Whistler Rally video. Even I underestimate the usefulness of this feature.
I'm currently doing the 24h with the Corvette C1, this car is a monster. I don't have the skill the beat the Chapparal but I'm pretty sure some people can
New challenge: beat the el capitain endurance race in spec II with the worst rally car possible, i wonder what can beat the Peugeot and the lancia, I tried it with the integrale and the 205 was basically impossible to reach, 14 laps with the same tires as the delta can do only 9-10 with the hardest compound
NateLupson was able to beat the 205 with the Silvia 240RS rally car with stock power and racing super hards for a 200 A-spec point race. I think RWD's are the way to go, as 4WD's wear their front tyres way too quickly.
@@Tea_Vault yeah I thought so, I used the Renault 5 and it was miles better than the integrale, i still have the race on pause but I have a little bit more pace than the delta S4, I think a good challenge at least would be beating it using the bluebird against the '90-00's rally cars
With everything else as-is, I highly doubt it. I did use the stage 2 turbo instead of the stage 3 because it has a much more flat torque curve, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue on the Nordschleife. It might be possible with stage 3 + no nitrous, but it's much more fun to drive in this configuration IMO.
Nos is actually ignored by the A spec points calculation. I imagine it's just because the calculator absolutely hates weight, which is also why you can easily get 200 points on every race with the Dodge Ram despite easily being faster than the competition
It's because the A-Spec points are an average of the whole grid, and the other cars are really slow. You also see this in the endurance races where one of the cars might be a slow GT car instead of another prototype.
@@andi36356 Yep. You only get A-Spec points for coming in first, so the formula should have been changed to weigh the best AI cars far more than the worst ones. In the base game, A-Spec points basically don't matter at all, and in the Spec II mod they only have a small impact (some prize cars) so it's not a big issue.
The Buick Special is such a joke of a car, the gall they have to call it a '62 car when the version in the game is pretty much a custom made tuner car from 2003. The actual '62 Buick had under 200 bhp if I remember right.
@projectdriven4493 There's precedent for other tuner cars having later years applied to them, the year they were tuned up being the one given. The Shuichi Shigeno AE86 for example.
In real life you usually refer to it by that year yeah. But for the game it either should be called 03' or call it 62' and then have the code consider it 03'@@projectdriven4493
the game gives you 10 A-spec points for this, meanwhile i've had races where it gives me 100+ points for the easiest matchups known to man lol

That's because you brought a race car to a classics race. The context of the lineup matters in determining the points.

Try it again with v1.07, I think you'll find the Renault 5 and 240RS have much better tyre wear now due to the rally car buffs.
