Hello! Thanks for visiting! Lescar is located approximately 55 minutes from our home and I visit every 2 months or so. I've added a couple of the finds from that day on Etsy , most particularly the cake stand/footed bowl and some of the silverware as part of a curated set with plates I've found previously. I hope to keep collecting those white footed cups until I have a complete set to offer you. The rest of the items will be a part of our home. I've already begun reading the High Sobriety book and am enjoying the read. Have a great weekend everyone! ❤
Happy New Year to both of you. GREAT SHOP, it’s huge I’m sure you were there for quite a while if it was heated of course. Love your haul and a magnificent DIY with the crystals. Great idea 💡 💗💕💗💕🤗🇨🇦❤️🙋♀️💗💕❤️💗❤️💕
When I lived in France there was no Emmaus, so I'd love to drive up from Italy one day with a van and fill it with treasures! I love everything you do and enjoy upscaling and creating just like you! Thank you for another lovely video Jenny, take care! 🥰🤗🤍
Grazie Mille for visiting us today! Oh I can imagine all the wonderful flea market and antique shopping in Italy! When I lived in Sicily for a year, Catania had a great antiques flea market on the weekends. We haven’t come across your channel in a while, we’ll go take a look!
@@Frenchcountryfriends that's so kind of you...thank you so much Jenny. My name is Marisa. Yes, I absolutely love flea market and mercatino shopping around Tuscany and wherever our travels take us. We are still only just starting to decide on the styling inside and we furnished the home quickly for comfort but now we are pairing back and getting the design "right" for us. We are also doing up a little "rustico" on an olive grove starting this year...I'm so excited! Sicily is so lovely...you must have loved living there! Sending hugs 🥰🤗
Would love to spend an afternoon searching for treasures there i have not been antiquing for quite a while ! Love the little cups with the bulbs in and your recipe is deff one i mjst try thanks for sharing ❤
It's a hunt! It's can be overwhelming at times, it's great there are 2 restaurants on site because 10-12 is never enough time to shop! Then they don't reopen again until 2pm. Is there a large flea market where you are?
Just discovered you now. Lovely blog, fun seeing France and your surroundings. Thank you for taking us along seeing your creativity and how you integrate your finds into your home.
Loving the glass drops as they create prisms with sunlight and it looks like water drops. Fascinating. Hibiscus is so good for you and the tart looked delicious. I also like finding old bits of silver and using them on the table.
That was our first ever hibiscus tea tasting, it was also great to allow the water to cool and to drink it that way. Have you used the leaves in other ways? Thank you for sharing your comment with us. 💕
Loved your thrifting adventure. What a great place. That bamboo chest of drawers with marble top was gorgeous just as it was. The contrast between the natural materials used was perfect. No need to always paint everything white.
Today I am taking you along to Lescar where the largest Emmaus in France has been located since 1987. Complete with a giant bric à brac of 6000 m2, a recycling centre for donated goods, a grocery store, two organic restaurants, crêperie, 4 hectares farm, corn and wheat fields, a bar, bakery and playground with picnic tables. There are also cultural events like concerts and various workshops held throughout the year. 70% of people who work with Emmaus organization live on site and offer the opportunity for some to rehabilitate into the workforce or for expats to become citizens with a three year work agreement. You can google to read more about the origin story and its ongoing charitable contributions. Sit back with your favourite cuppa and enjoy a mini-tour and haul styling video.
@ 🥰 high summer this side!~ home is in the winelands of Afrique du Sud and the grape harvest has just begun~ outdoor festivals , late sunsets, all the bussyness of that ! Xx
Wow! just happened across your video, first time, What a beautiful place to shop and incredible finds. I only wish where I lived in the states we had places like that in my town. ohhhhh I can dream cant I. Breathtaking video, loved it!❤❤❤
I would just love thrifting at this place you visited with us. I bet Brebis would have liked to play with the chickens and pigs. You wisely left him at home. 😉
@Frenchcountryfriends It depends. I can go fast at a grocery store, but I am slow at an antique mall. I learned that I am having more fun shopping by myself. I can stop then as long as I want and focus on what I am interested in. I can spend a long time browsing before making a decision. It's very relaxing for me to go antique shopping. I can look for hours without buying anything. Same with spending time in a nursery or at a flower and garden show. Just love it. Have a beautiful week. ( I would have ordered from your etsy shop a few times, but shipping to here has become so expensive. I saw a white plate and shipping was reasonable, but when I went to add 6 it went to over 100 dollars for shipping. I know that is not in your control. Just letting you know why I have not ordered lately from your beautiful shop. )
Justin can handle an hour or two at the most at this particular one, it’s just too big! BTW- I had someone reach out about Limoges plates and I realized that the shipping was off when placing individual orders so I’ve since changed it as a bundle. I will stay away from offering quantities…❤ There are so many wonderful Etsy sellers in the US!
Thank you so much! Yes it’s pretty good, first time I made it so it was a bit UGLY looking. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I would recommend less flour, mixing well with your choice of milk and cutting one venting hole. But it was delicious and simple to make.
Ohhhh you are our first cutlery mentioning person! Yay! The older the better right? They just don’t make them like they used to. So intricate! Do you use yours or prefer them as part of decor?
I just found your station! I just love your style… just stunning. We are coming to Aix in May. Way too far to Lescar but would love to go to that Emmaus!
Justin studied abroad there and when we visited together the village was having an antiques sale! I believe it was my first outdoor experience in France. It’s lovely there! 💕 I see your profile picture has the Madame Tour Eiffel. Are you in France?
@ Hi Jeni, No we live in Michigan but took a med cruise years ago and fell in love with Provence. We have been to France 3 times and we just love it. That’s really nice that Justin was able to study there. We are going to go be in Provence for a week in May. I know they have brocante’s there on certain days I just know the best prices are at Emmause. Would love to move to France 🇫🇷 maybe staying this time for almost a month will help us decide. I love your house it looks magical inside and out! 💕
That was so much fun going thrifting with you! I’ve never been to an Emmaus that big before. Loved seeing the farm animals too. Is there more large thrift stores like this one in other locations that you know of?
Hello! So many more areas, I didn’t share. Maybe in another one? This is the largest in France and I’ve been many to them throughout my travels. Nothing compares. There is a large outdoor flea market in Sud Ouest, that has 7000m2 of outdoor shopping but if I remember correctly it’s an annual/bi annual event?? So no, no thrifting like this one.
Oh, that tart looks divine,,,And the crackle on the tart dish is perfection. 😍. I loved every minute and can’t get over how massive that thrift shop is. And the farm! 💜💜. The hyacinth inspired me…the bulletin board did too (your creative juices were flowing, big time). And the silver utensils are so beautiful that I couldn’t decide whether they should go up or down in the pot! But the crystal chime😮😮. You outdid yourself on that one, Jeni! The sparkle is brilliant, shimmering in the sunshine!! Are you nearing warmer temperatures there?? It looks like things are fairly greenish. We can’t get the snow and ice to budge here in the Midwest. Bonjour to your little family. 💞
I’m thinking that a glass container would be better suited to show off my “TOOLS.” 🤣 It’s so high and can be overwhelming at times. I only go in the mornings when they are open from 10-12 (closed for lunch 12-2) and often times feel rushed. But the early bird gets the worm they say! We had a high of 61 yesterday! 🤯 Send us snow please….! What kind of shoes do you wear everyday for the snow?
Just found you!! First time coming to Europe in March 2025. Coming to Paris for 3 days. Love thrifting, any suggestions, close to Paris? Cannot wait to watch all your video’s. Any tips appreciated very much!! Blessings!!! Love everything ❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘👏👏👏
Thanks for watching, there are many brocante’s around and near Paris. I recommend doing a google search and don’t be afraid to negotiate! Let us know how it goes. Are you looking for anything in particular?- Justin
