For context:
I was born in the Philippines but moved to the U.S. when I was 8. I visited only one time in 2005 and never came back.
This trip helped me re-discover the land that is my birth country. It helped me reconnect with my relatives, and it helped me relive some of my childhood memories.
On day 1: we fly from LAX to MNL via Philippine Airlines flight 113, set to arrive in Manila at 7pm Sunday 11.5.23.
On the way home, we stopped by the night market at BGC for some food.

FINALLY! As a fellow Filipino-American SoCal guy, I really appreciate finally finding a vlog on the Philippines that isn't:
--focusing on some old White guy looking for an 18-year old "village girl" for a wife
--about slum/barrio life
--about a Filipina putting on makeup...going clothes shopping...or drinking boba tea
Looking forward to more stuff, guys!
Just a regular guy showing you how I re-discovered the land, reconnected with my people, and relived some of my childhood memories ❤
Hello there, @POV_Dad. Thank you for flying with us and entrusting us with your journey. We hope you had a pleasant experience. ✈
Love PAL. I plan on using it indefinitely!
Your son is precious 👍🏻
I sense so many more Pinoys who grew up in the States are feeling this renewed pride, excitement, and optimism about our Motherland. I am one of them. Can't wait to visit again as it has been 10 years since my last visit. The many infrastructure projects, revived economy, and overall progress in Manila (where I lived as a kid) are so exciting to see. Mabuhay, Philippines!
Love this video. Taking my kids that are half filipino this summer and its a great documentary of the trip. Well done!!
I enjoyed your video. I will be visiting in June after 22 years. I’m excited and will be bringing my wife and kids. It will be their first time. Can’t wait!
Wow 22 years is a long time.
I hope you enjoy your trip!
Omg i was your check in agent and scanned your boarding pass 😂 you guys were great!! Hope you had an amazing trip!
Wassup Kathy!!!
There are better options than PR113 these are CX881/883 KE018/012 SQ11/37 JL/NH OZ CI/BR/JX TW3 basically the premium East Asian airlines. Option 2 via PVG/XMN/CAN/PEK CN3 MU/CZ/CA
it was 17yrs for me before i got back last yr..going back again this august and im already scared of flying :(..those bbq looks sooo good...
great video. Did you check in any baggage. Where they strict with the weight? How was the customer service and seat comfort?
We checked in one luggage since we had gifts to give. I’m not sure if they’re strict but they weighted all our bags. Checked luggage cannot exceed 55lbs, and carryon 15lbs. Customer service was great and seats were comfortable.
We had so much fun with u son and apo, hope to see u again❤️
Miss you already auntie! Hope to see each other soon
which terminal did u land in the Philippines? 1 or 3?
Terminal 1
How was the check in was it fast?
Very fast. Only a few mins if that.
How are the seats in the back?
Comfy, no problems.
LAX is so outdated
