Lemax Starlight Express Train & Other Toy Trains

- A look at two Lemax collector sets, Village Crossing Depot 95381and Starlight Express Train Set 04232. I also investigate other very popular toy trains against the scale of Lemax. HO / OO Thomas Tank, Trackmasters new Day of the Diesels Diesel 10 and the Lego City Passenger Train (7389). Surprisingly all sit well with these Lemax miniatures.
The train sound chip can be irritating after a very short period of time. Battery life using 3 AA Aldi batteries was over 1 hour of Christmas spirit.

Lol. Diesel 10: kicking ass in the corners since 2000
@Trainmaster189 from what I have seen the lemax trees are excellent, not sure how they are cost wise compared to model train scale trees which I know can be very costly
@cubeproduktion for $49 it's not bad, thats the part you have to consider here, also it has what I call Christmas tax applied
loads of people collect this stuff
I like how you made a little custom train layout of this Lemax train set. It’s that old custom layout you had when you made the video of powering toy trains that don’t run HO track by the tiny Bachmann HO gandy dancer handcar and the video where the problem with your Hornby Thomas, it didn’t have traction tyres to grip the plastic rails and pull HO/OO rolling stock.
@TMRReturns maybe the old evil face was upsetting children, but every story needs a villain, just look how over the years Disney have weaved the magic of evil villains into every story
@t4mercustomz yes the black wheels have tiny traction tyres and power the deer
that's exactly what happened with me I bought a house to put on my fireplace mantel and I was hooked. It's definitely my favorite Christmas decoration I started looking for a train and all the reviews are really bad. your video was very informative and helpful thank you
Diesel 10 must be thinking " shut up or i will hit you with pinchy!"
I liked Lemax because of their snow covered pine trees. I'm not a Lemax collector, but I wanted a winter theme on my O Scale layout year round.
@bsquiklehausen one of the axles at the rear are black, and they power the deer
my grandmother (who's still alive) has a s*** load of lemax villages and accessories.
Is she alive today
@thomasrosiefan1 is O scale larger than a lego train..?, I feel if the train gets bigger than that size the lemax will start to look out of place, sorry I am not familiar with O scale at all
That sound chip is freaking annoying. Even Diesel #10 is trying to get away from it.
@trainboy7 and guess what I also bought last years yellow freight train set and this years red one, I really do like the lego train system
New York: 3405 miles
Los Angeles: 3866 miles
Uh LA and NY are not 400 miles apart from each other lol. Well thats if you were ignoring the North Pole sign at the top.
@ejcmoorhouse from what I am told by my lemax collecting friends down the road the earlier lemax trains had a sound off switch, i'm still looking for that on this very noisy train
@Whizzer1 i'm about to pull a full review on 3 new trackmaster items, whats really sad is the new diesel 10 has a much happier face compared to my other diesel 10's
i think we all want the old evil looking diesel10 back please..!
and well done being first
@gavinfuzzy my lemax collector friends tell me other lemax trains had a switch to turn off the sound chip, i failed to find one on this train
@cyberkidmfb i think the sound chip has turned me off Christmas 2011, I may have to dig in there and tape up the speaker
Leo - it seems that the caboose is missing a wheel! Did it fall off, or just come with onlythree axles?
diesel 10 looks very menacing and looks better with the black on his side
The early Hornby Thomas models had traction tires
wish thered be an on off switch and a volume control as some of these sound chips can be quite loud . cool train.
@leokimvideo I have the same train at home. I ended up cutting the blue wire running underneath the engine. No more sound = a much merrier Christmas! ;)
@leokimvideo well i don't know but I do know that Lego track's said to be L scale
is the black wheel on the caboose for the raindeer to spin?
my thomas does not have traction tires
@leokimvideo same here, I'm hoping I could get the yellow tran for christmas and I look forawrd to seeing it in one of your videos ^_^
@leokimvideo yeah diesel 10s old tomy face looks more evil than his new CGI happy face
just orderd this!!
Can you make a video teaching us how to make our take and plays and chuggington on track master
I use a lionel train for my Christmas train
@leokimvideo agreed
the reason your thomas doesn't hae tration tyers is because they changed the build of him.
santa sounds like homesar
Ferroviarios de Natal And Dieselworlks
use the lionel bluetooth polar-express
Is there any way to turn off the sound? After awhile, it will cause you to go insane with thoughts of pouring gasoline over your entire village and setting it aflame!!! (Just kidding)

Xxx
I see it is again for sale at ALDI Australia for $49.99. Looks like the same set and the price has not changed.
@DTChapman1 i think we have to keep in mind it's a festive Christmas sort of train, and it does fit into the over the top Lemax miniature enviroments
@TrainzXtreme well thats a bit of a loaded question as some of mine run on a single AA or C cell battery, Diesel 10 has a C but I can't tell you his duration on a good quality battery.
I agree with you that the poor sound is a huge NAGATIVE, but since Lemax never listens to feedback anyway, (no matter what the source??) the simple solution is to undo the bottom screws, get inside and just cut the wire to the speaker. If you still want trains sound, an MP3 player with speaker is now under $5.00, record 3 hours of train sounds on a 256Mb micro-SD ($2.50), and for the cost of a couple of sets of batteries, you have solved the problem permanently!
When I read 'Starlight Express,' I thought it had to do w/ the musical. XD
This is a bit off topic, but that TOMY Diesel 10 looks different than the one I have (or had; returned it cos it didn't work :-P); do you remember what it came with?
@Whizzer1 yes. it's a absolute epic fail to stuff with Diesels 10's face, not sure why you would change a classic great looking face
All i heard from that train was, "ALL ABOARD FOR mufl mufl mufl mufl
noisy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After 2009 hornby stopped putting traction tires on
Hmmm...Lemax villages remind me of Department 56 Snow Village series very popular in the US. Although, Department 56 have glaze on their pieces, and break the bank to buy (Seriously, some buildings cost $70 USD before tax.) Luckily, the prices drop very fast, due to the very low production run (and how they get "Retired"). Every D56 piece is hand made, painted, and glazed for maximum detail.
@Trainfanz spooky
I see you got another lego train =3
This year my Christmas train is a lego Victorian railways tait train and walker railmotor model of
You should go to a hobby shop and get some traction tires for tomas.
The detail and noises on the train in my view is a bit over the top
yeah see what you mean about the sound could do with a mute!
I never put trains with soundchips under the Christmas tree. It tends to piss the crap out of guests since my tree is usually next to the TV and i like to keep the train on.
I currently use the basic LGB model (green engine with red/blue passenger carriages) ... which i had for about 10 years. Its kinda big, but it still works.
have you seen the holiday express animated train set by new bright
I've got an N-scale Christmas train display which is made up of a Kato Unitrack oval set, Micro-Trains Christmas buildings, and an Amtrak Superliner consist with a Phase III P42 on the point.
I have a few of lemax biuldings and there on my ho scale railroad
illuminated ..... illuminated .... wait ILLUMINATI CONVIRMED
Súper lindo
i just got that yesterday!
How the heck do you change the batteries? I dont have a manual. Thanks.
