As a Spanish rider myself, I can assure you that the metal noseband is NOT POPULAR in Spain. These nosebands may be used in the most traditional south of Spain. Most Spanish riders do not support these nosebands and use common ones. But overall I loved the video Erin there were some beautiful horses there.❤
I live in the south of Spain and the serreta is really really common here 👎 They have metal ones bound in leather, but then they have pure metal ones with teeth in the underside and that’s what they use to “tame” them... it’s pretty bad unfortunately.
As a spaniard I just have to say: Don‘t be scared to call what we do abuse. It just is. It‘s not a „different training method“ it‘s just plain abuse. Spain still has a long way to go in terms of animal rights and welfare. I‘m also on the lookout for my first ever horse and although PRE horses are beautiful I avoid them like the pest. It‘s not because of the horses, it‘s because most breeders of PREs use outdated and painful methods to make the horse submit. It‘s a sad reality and there‘s not a day that goes by that I don‘t think about how many animals are abused in this supposedly „developed and advanced“ country.
I really like that you talk about the tack and treatment of the horses, I actually don’t think that you have to respect someone’s culture if it harms animals. It’s still not okay!
Nothing soft about wanting the best for horses, it just means you have their wellbeing at the top of your priority list, don't ever think it's you being soft, you're just being human
The last horse suits you the most BY FAR, a lot of potential for dressage, and is already used to proper english dressage tack! I immedietly thought he was for you! Edit: am i like... famous now? Thx so much for the likes ❤❤
its nice seeing tack on the last one that won’t potentially harm the horse :) he looked better treated in my opinion and the facilities looked a lot nicer and cleaner too. if i was choosing one id most certainly go for the one best treated as i’d feel horrible for giving money to someone who could have hurt the horses. not trying to diss the culture at all, but being an english rider things are a lot different here!
@@scarlettdrummond5758 she should buy all their horses and give them loads of money to buy more horses and abuse them too? nope, its not feasible. I would be providing feedback to the stable that the use of such tack has prevented a sale.
Your voice is seriously so calming. You don’t scream at us and stuff. A lot of you tubers have the habit of talking really loud, which irritates me a lot. Also, I like the last horse. I think it would suit you amazingly.
As a spanish rider I must say that I also hate the idea of spanish people using the “serreta” (the metal noseband) to work their horses which can injure them. It sad that still nowadays they continue using it. But please note that only some people in Spain use this, and I hope that someday nobody will ever use the Serreta again! Loved the video and the way you explained everything! ❤️
I think number 5 was the best one in my opinion, because he really carried himself well, you could see he was a little bit uppity and anxious, but there are tons of reasons that he could be, cause of a new rider, and a new way your riding him that he isn't used too...he looked like a "dressage" horse a little more than the others, and the first one had some lame steps, the third one was HUGEEEE, and the fourth one had an interesting approach with their culture, with the spikey noseband that i don't agree with either. I think its between the 2nd one and the 5th one!
I liked #2 and 5. Best for Erin. I also liked the 4th, but I don't like the nose and cruelty at all. Hope you pick the right one for you and passes the vetting.
Yes I can definitely see that little bit of lameness but he was very well trained he did have a personality though which I absolutely love I hate when they are just dull and don’t have that sparkle in their eyes anymore
1. Looked a bit grumpy and off 2. Long mane but looks gaited, unbalanced canter 3. Nice face, ugly stubby neck, hard to bridle due to neck, Although when Erin rode him he did relax and come into a nicer frame. 4. Stunning, upright gaits and almost looks more Lusitano than PRE. Longer neck so looks overbridled, needs to be held together to get good control, as thats how he is used to being ridden. 5. Definitely the horse with the most dressage potential Number 4 or 5 would be my picks :)
The use of the serreta is a big problem now in Spain, people still use it harming their horses and i've seen a lot of wounds on horses noses, i' m totally against them and I' m from Spain, so please let people know that not every one here uses them, we know that the using of serreta is a monstruocity, we are trying to erradicate them.
The last horse seemed to be closest to what we have here. They used a normal bridle and large ring to train in. I love the silver-colored one but that poor thing....so sad about the metal noseband. Cant wait to see if you get any of these!!
I agree! Visually as well, he suits you beautifully! As far as his bit of tension, that will definitely lessen. Very smart, these baroque breed beauties!
The last horse! He was in a much bigger schooling area to try too, which allowed us to see him with a bit more freedom. A tough decision though as the culture is VERY different 😬 I’m not sure I could consider encouraging their way of training by purchasing one though 🥺 You are such a kind and caring owner with your own horses I can tell this was a struggle for you 💖
I had a pre-horse for 14 years (he passed away already two years ago) and I also noticed, that he had a "sensitive nose", propably due to training as a young stallion, but I was riding him for many years bridleless and especially nice he was in liberty. He was a professional show horse all those years, a perfect medieval war horse, and I also practised mounted archery with him for many years - and also in liberty. I have a perfect Friesian horse as a show horse, too, which has also made a 19 years long career as an actor, and a very talented Irish Cob, but my next horse is after all going to be pre again. Andalusian horses are the best and most noble horses I have ever ridden, and I have been riding for 49 years.
I hate serretas, and I hate the phrase "any bit can be soft/hard in the right/wrong hands". There are bits that are inherently harmful, like the twisted wire and waterford mouthpieces that cause abrasion just with the horse moving its mouth aroumd, or gags, that send conflicting signals to the horse at the slightest use of the reins. Just because something is tradition, does not make it okay. Serreta's (metal and spiked ones at least) are barbaric in my opinion.
Yes!!! The serreta IS barbaric, and IS abusive to the most sensitive part of the animal's head. Regardless of tradition in some very sophisticated riding schools, there are some practices that should be abolished once and for good. The blatant pomposity and hubris of the use of the serreta is not just a Spanish thing, as others have used similar TORTURE devices, like chaining the feet of Tennessee Walkers.... humans are so stupid sometimes! 😥
agreed but waterfords are better than even a plain snaffle being that there is even pressure and it’s not pinching the tongue as easily and causing a small point of pressure in the roof of the mouth. i personally try to use rubber when possible but id rather use like a french link or lozenge before a snaffle.
@@gabbyfinlayson8431 Snaffles aren’t mouthpieces, they’re cheek pieces (loose-ring, d-ring, eggbutt, full/half cheek, etc). A waterford is a type of mouthpiece, whether it be on a snaffle, gag, or curb bit, they are inherently harmful and inherently abrasive. They create many pressure points and tend to just collapse in the mouth, and have a much greater chance of pinching than any single or double jointed mouthpiece. If you’re riding properly, a single joint snaffle should not have a nutcracker effect, and it is nearly impossible to pinch the tongue in one, unless you’re literally pulling the reins towards the ground; in which case it is more likely that you’re squeezing the bars of the jaw rather than pinching the tongue.
I liked the number 4 horse the best. I loved his color, loved the way he looked. It’s sad that this horse had to be at the worst place. Just imagine how stressful it must be for this horse to have to be taught and ridden in such a small tiny arena. I think this horse will flourish going home to England with you. Horse 5 was cool too.
Fab video, the last horse definetely looked the best! Best tack, best movement, and best paces! You looked great on him too. Looks very looked after and healthy
My favorites were definitely #2 and #5. All of the horses were stunning, I just liked these two best. #5 moved beautifully. I know you were looking for a white horse, but the bay horse that was behind the fifth one when y'all first walked yup really cought my eye! It was beautiful! I can't wait to see which beauty you pick!
heyyy erin, just wanting to let you know i live in the costa del sol and i have a pre horse, in spain there are many places where they try to sell you horses for high prices and many times they dont do all the thing they say. By what ive seen through the video i can get a guess that some places you went are what its called ´tratantes`they unfortunatly dont treat the horse as well, and they try to sell you whichever horse just for the money, sad to hear but theres some people which do it. I recommend you to have a look at the stables where i bought my horse, he has been my first horse but has all the things i could of have ever ask for, very chill, nice, calm and beautiful(my horse is from Yeguada Lezama Leguizamon). Hope you read this!Just trying to make sure they dont try to trick you and you have a great horse!!So excitinggg, btw last horse was the most dresagge one and I think he was the best one! 🤍🤍
you could see instantly with horse #4 when you got uncomfortable/upset at the rearing, just shows how amazing of a person you are and how much you care about the horses well being.
I have a beautiful andalusian horse, he has the scars on his nose of the serreta but he luckily isn't traumatized because I can still ride him in a simple halter/headcollar > nose pressure. However, finding the right bit for him was a bit of a journey... I am sure you will find yours special! They take some time to connect and bond, but once done it's a lifetime horse.
Thank god I’m not the only one who struggles finding a bit for their Spanish horse..so far he only likes his spanish bridle and his hackamore (I don’t like using any of those because he’s only 3)😅
@@melanieskovby7625 yo! Maybe a side pull would work for him? Still bit less until you find the right one for your horse, but works differently than a hackamore :)
This whole "its tradition" bs really bugs me. We're in the 21st century now, could we just agree to not use medieval, abusive training methods on animals please? Number 2 was beautiful, but I thought I saw some scarring from one of those nosebands.
i know what u want to say but could we also stop using the term medieval for nything we think is backwards and barbaric? the treatise of jordanes ruffus of 1250 for example exlicitely states a soft and gentle use of the horse, especially when you start training(not befor 5!) etc. so medieval is in this context is not correct ;)
@@chevalierdelacalique9087 I used medieval because although the "modern" serreto noseband was created in the 16th century, there were very similar nosebands used as early as 8000 BCE. Probably not entirely accurate still, since serrato-like nosebands pre-date the medieval period. Also I didn't mention barbaric at all. Don't really feel like we can judge people when their actions were based on a lack of knowledge & understanding. People in the past were not being "abusive"( at least not intentionally), they didn't know any better. In this day & age we do, so it becomes abusive (intentionally).
One of my good friends bought a Spanish stallion a couple years ago. He is the kindest, sweetest, gentlest stallion I have ever had the pleasure of working with and taking care of. Just a real gem 💎
My stallion is a grey. Although he's a Thoroughbred lol. He's no high-dollar fancy fellow, but he's sweet natured and calm. Very willing to learn and brave about new things lol 16.2hh, which shows me that my Thoroughbred mare is not remotely in the 16hh+ range like we thought. As for the horses you looked through, the last two spoke to me the most in terms of conformation, movement, and temperament. Five though, is a winner. Spirited but not hyper, even with that horse rumbling away in his stall at him trying to get his attention. Beautiful mane but manageable hair, and a super floaty canter.
Number 5 for sure! He’s still quite young, and I feel like he has so much to learn. He’s also used to the traditional English tack, which is amazing. The people also treated him well, and he was absolutely stunning. All in all, it’s your choice, I’m not in any way trying to force you into making a decision, that’s just my opinion. Amazing video, Erin! Good luck with all this horse shopping!💕🐎
I love the way you approach and cmunicate with the horses, it just looks so natural and you can clearly see "woah, she knows wtat is it all about". My personal favourite was the last horse, but choose which suits you the best
The last stallion suits you! He is amazing, and has so much potential! I see you and him becoming a great pair, and his canter is so beautiful! A stunning horse, with a stunning personality!
Please Erin please, I’m a Spanish showjumper and with the 4th horse I can absolutely tell that just in a few places of Spain people use the metal nose bands, it’s not common. I wouldn’t like you to get the wrong idea from our way of training. It’s such a pleasure to have you here trying our horses and best wishes to find your one ❤️
When the third horse was trotting and Erin was saying 'I'm not sure he's trotting' made me crack up so much 😂😂 her face was just like 'what's going on?!?!' 😂😂😂
It was lovely to see all the horses more relaxed when you were riding them, it really showed what a great rider you are! Personally I thought number 4 looked like it had a lot of potential and suited you best - a shame about its situation though! X
I feel number 5 was the best because: 1) he is used English way of riding so you wouldn't have to retrain him 2) he has beautiful movement 3)very chill and looks happy with whatever 4) beautiful horse
Number 4 won my heart. Excited to see whoever you get in future videos. Glad your looking at health side too. Bad memories as a child when my mum worked on a livery yard. Woman bought a fancy Spanish stallion and it was gorgeous but dangerous. Got kicked of the yard for his behaviour. They moved it to livery on a yard with a riding school who had to have it put down after it almost killed a groom. Turns out it had a brain tumour that caused it to behave violently!
I think the 2 and 5th horses looked best. But question is what you are searching for and who you clicked better with :) About sereta, I think you were unlucky in seeing it used too rough. From what I heard in Spain horses wellbeing is treated a little different then we are used to, so seeing horses with rubbed noses is a shock for other equestrians, but it is "normal" there. In good hands sereta is no worse then riding in hackamore or a snaffle or a double bridle, all of which have metal and also can harm horses (and have harmed, even in a top sport we have situations with blood rule eliminations). Most serettas have leather padding and are not much different then cavesson, they are good for groundwork. Question is in the rider. I think Matt Harnacke reaction was very similar to yours. It is a different culture. Good luck with finding your new horse!
It is absolutely worse, you can get them with spikes on the inside. All my imported PRE horses have scars from it. Even my green 3 yo who’s only been ridden 5 times. Breaks my heart.
Both sereta’s and bits can be a problem. I don’t agree what so ever with sereta’s, there are most definitely better ways, people seem to forget that you can always soften a horses mouth, a metal nose band is not required especially because of how a horses skull and nasal passages are set up anatomically. That and around their nose/face, a horses epidermis is thinner than it would be everywhere else, and they already have an epidermis that’s similar in width to humans. Because they are bigger animals, they have more nerves, these are animals that can feel bugs landing on them through their fur. So a metal noseband is a definite no. And that goes for harsh bits aswell, chain bits, twisted, gag bits, spade bits are all far too harsh to be used in a horses mouth. Rotating shanks I’m on the fence about, as they are meant to be used in events like reining, or cattle cutting, or western pleasure where 99.9% of the event your reins are lose. Yet, people use these shanks in barrel racing. But both harsh bits and sereta’s aren’t great, people can say “in the right hands” all they want but unless your hands are lighter than a bug…
If it's most important that you find a kind, gentle horse, why not expand the search to include geldings? Not to suggest that stallions aren't capable of being kind but you can get a bit more of a predictable nature from a gelding. Just curious what the thought process here is, and whether you're looking for a stallion prospect or if a gelding would be just as suitable? If you are considering a stallion, what bloodlines are you after? Only PREs or other Spanish horses, too? If you're just after a pretty horse with a kind nature and the movement for serious dressage, there is a PRE breeder in Cali with double pearl and cream horses. Her stallion recently became a Breyer model. I can send you her contact info if you're interested. Best of luck on your horse search!
I think the main reason there are mainly stallions is because in Spain mostly Stallions are trained and worked with and it isn’t custom to geld like it is in some other places. Mares are used for breeding and stallions are trained and sold. Different cultures do things differently. Also consider it this way, when buying a gelding you buy a genetic dead end- if you wanted to breed after a sporting career you could do that 🤷♀️.
The choice obviously depends on your future plans. The first horse was spectacular, well trained, calm and ready to go...if you want the original Spanish style training. The last horse was ideal if you're more comfortable with classic euro dressage. Personally, I'd go with number 1, so unique! I have a young friesian. I wanted the classic war horse.
I watched this twice and again, the number 4 horse is absolutely gorgeous. He just needs a more relaxed better life and he will be a gem. Did you look at the horses' teeth, to get a rough estimate of his age?
The next time you have to come to Cataluña, here the Spanish horses are more for sport (It is the perfect combination between race and sport) And I love you and I'm very proud of all that you make and show to the people
Half of those horses are trained with serratas nosebands, sadly is still very used here in Spain; im sorry you had to see that all of them had marks on their noses and they are all because of them. Im Spanish and I honestly dont consider this “culture” at all, for me it is disgusting to see such a harsh tool used on horses which, by the way, those nosebands do always harm the horses; there is no “good way” of using serratas and they are actually starting to be banned because some of us are really against them. It is sad because even though there are very good places in Spain where horses are treated like gods, there are still a lo of places where they are treated very badly. I am sorry you had to witness the marks on their noses caused by the abuse, I am glad that you are taking one of them because you will give him a much better life I am sure.
@@mycrittercity totally!!! i hate it bc the majority of the people in this video don't even care about their horses they just breed them and sell them that's it (one of them didn't even know how his own horse was called) and that just gives a horrible image to Spanish people when it comes to horses welfare. Some of us really treat them with absolute love and really care for them and i hate that there's still people that treat them like objects
The last horse was the best, and you look great with him.He has a lot of dressage potential, he is absolutely stunning , he has a beautiful canter. I know you'll pick the most amazing horse. Good luck!
I really liked that Silver horse. Gosh, learning about that nose and and seeing the ankle wraps and wondering about them. Doesn’t it make you want to rescue all of them. What a damper on what’s supposed to be a shopping episode.
I actually live in Spain and own Spanish dressage stallions which I train with Juan Manuel Muñoz‘ help. Unfortunately, all these horses were totally lacking quality. Yes, the last horse was ridden better and had a good canter, but his front legs weren’t straight and the overall potential wasn’t there. It’s difficult, when you come to Spain as an “outsider”, as people will try to sell you horses that aren’t worth half of the price they’re asking. There’s a good breeder in Malaga, where I recently bought a young stallion and he’s got older and more advanced horses too. You wouldn’t find any Serretas over there either, and pretty much all the horses have x-rays already. The breeder is called Sebastian Brenes and he’s in Puerto De la Torre / Malaga. You can find his contact details online
"Tradition" is often the reason given to justify abuse (against people and animals) in many cultures. Many others who are looking for PRE horses also complain about this and how many of the horses didn't pass vet checks.
There were a quite few quality horses. I really liked number two (Buscador?). He has a really easy going temperament. Built beautifully. He is my favorite. You couldn’t go wrong with the last one either. A really lovely horse as well. I come from a Western Pleasure/ Horsemanship background and it is super fun to different horses in their element. Thanks for sharing.
Number 4 really stood out to me, he had fire in his step and his personality he looks like he’d be a fun addition, plus he had dapples lol, number 5 also a beautiful horse with what seems a interested personality & dapples😂
I was born and live in Catalonia. I've been riding for many years and I can assure you you're not wrong when pointing out that it looks like a circus performance. It's very cultural depending on whether you are in Spain. The horse becomes a utilised object. During traditional Spanish festivities in the South, horses pull carts from dawn till dusk to the point of exhaustion, I've seen horses collapse in the summer heat. They are many times exploited. It's really sad and unfortunate. It's not about horsemanship anymore, it's more about business and money making. I wish you could have travelled to other regions of Spain where animals are treated differently. Many hugs xx
From closely studying how you good English youtube ladies have humanely developed your horses, I have to say that the body language of all 5 Spanish equines, when they were around their trainers, was abnormal to say the least. Almost as if they were purposely prancing the tricks, (which the cruel inhumane tool implementing handlers were forcing them to uncomfortably display), in an off kilter way to reflect the mentality of their owners/grooms mistreatment who are clearly abusing the beautiful creatures as evidenced with the serated bridals. - This is why all 5 horses were keen to go home with you - the old equine dude would far rather retire at home stabled with you Erin, though, with any cruel/shady barn practices, patronizing them can perpetuate the abuse. I'd wish to get all 5 horses out of there if it were possible. On a final note, the lesser mental ideal of forceful/cruel training indoctrinations that is terrifyingly ingrained in the altered mindsets of every aspect of some cultures is the very reason why countries that support unethical characteristics will never hold sway or be entrusted in making important decisions sensitive to world stage effects in forums such as the United Nations. You'll get the right horse that will only mature positively with you and your other nice stable mates. -
Hello Erin! The grimace on the first horse for the bit is evidenced - look at the scars at the bars of his mouth - you were right about the horse that reared up, his distress was heard in his breathing. The last horse would be my pick as he was still showing personality yet very willing and just a gorgeous animal as well. Take care and thank you for sharing your adventure!
Here in Spain there’s so many different disciplines, in Catalonia (north east of Spain) there’s a LOT and maybe, more treated, then in that area of Spain
I gotta agree with everyone, number 5 suites you a ton. He look extremely sweet, the canter looked amazing and he’s already used to the English tack. Can’t wait to hear which one you might choose!
Girl you gotta come to Catalunya next time, we have amazing horses here too and not necessarily the same traditions (we don't use Serretones as much too)! Pleasee come😂🥰
I liked horses #2 and #5 (#2 I liked the most) they where very pretty and seemed pretty calm. Hopefully you will find the perfect horse. Have a good day!
Shopping for a horse is always a learning experience but it is so important to go with your gut feeling. All incredible horses to see, just lovely. Horse 2 looked very confident with you and accepting, willing to please personality. Horse 4 was a rare color combo, Wow, flashy but needed 2 years more training, he wasn't confident with himself, very smart but need more training from a trainer that would be your fit. Hore 4 was amazing, mover, fit, focus on you/rider more along in training. Wished your strips were the right fit for you, you looked awesome riding him. His movement was stunning, very flowing, smooth. Notice the kind eye on him. Stunning riding horse. All the horses were W0W!! Thanks so much for this video and for showing us what is out there.
Having a Spanish horse has always been my dream... if I ever had one I would nickname him Cloudy... so happy for you 💓 💗 ❤ The last 1 is my favorite number 5
I couldn't decide between number 2 and 5. They were both GORGEOUS and I loved 5s canter. By just a tiny bit , I feel like 5 would be most suitable for you because he is only 6 , has potential for dressage , a lovely canter and in my opinion , I think you and him are just meant to be! I know how you said he did feel a tiny bit anxious when riding , but I think if u bought him and worked on it , he would be like Gee and the rest if your horses! This is a big decision Erin , and is totally up to you , this is just my opinion :) All of those horses were absolutely beautiful 💕 Love you Erin 🐎
The last horse suited you the best in my opinion. He had the movements of a dressage horse. Yes he might’ve been slightly anxious but that is to be expected when a new person gets on a horse that that isn’t familiar with them. You did an amazing job handling and riding these horses!
I really liked the last horse, but I think you should get the fourth one. Many people abuse their horses by using serreta on their noses. The serreta damages the horses because they have very gentle skin on the nose. For me you should give a chance to the fourth horse because he deserves better conditions of life. However I believe you will make the right choice for you!
I saw horse number 2 and instantly fell in love. I can see how happy you are on him, and sure, number 5 has more dressage potential, but as you said earlier in the video your not looking for a flashy, dressage show horse, but a liberty, fun horse with a sweet nature. also, horse number 5 looked a little bit short for you (if you ever want to ride him) and he seemed a little bit spooky with his head tosses and maybe a little bit worse off of the camera. pr maybe it was because the stirrups were too long and that's why he looked short. idk.
Very happy for you Erin watching with black heart’s cara hybrids in black I just finished my first ride in them they are so comfortable. I am in love with them they are so much better that my other riding tights because of the belt loops. 😊
Hi, I'm Spanish and those "tortures" that they put on the horses number 4 on the nose they use it in some places to make the horse respond to the rider. It is a very hated "tradition" but unfortunately some places continue to do it. I recommend you not going to those places or buy them a horse since they are really mistreating it. Thank you
I loved number 2, he looked a real fairytale horse. I also love number 5 as well. Cannot wait to see which one you chose if any. You are also mentioning the issues that Matt Harnacke faced when he was looking for his PRE Stallion.
Two stood out for me the last two you rode, my favourite was the last one loved his passes beautiful to look at as well. Enjoyed this video thank you for taking us along with you.
i am going with the 5th horse , the fact he was ridden outside and in a drop nose band and was more dressage type he looks like there would be room to train him further and his anxiousness maybe just down to his age and training level, the others looked too mechanical and i think you would have to spend more time undoing than doing! But what ever one you choose will be a super lucky horse to go to your home x
The last horse was so pretty, I think that it was my fav and was a great mach for Erin. I think that what ever horse Erin pics is the best choice for her!👍❤🐎
@24:34 - Shouldn't you take the time to adjust the stirrups? I mean you want a good ride, and you do not want to be distracted by stirrups that are a bit loo long. It would also be a good test of the horse of you can adjust the stirrups from in the saddle...
Hey Erin! Just a heads up that if you buy a horse in Spain (I bought 2 there myself), you have to be extremely careful with paid-off veterinarians. They will do anything to make you buy the horse ( even falsify the rx). Good luck finding another amazing horse!
I bought an unseen “gelding” from spain..the vet told me he was a gelding and had been for a long time..what a lie, he had been a gelding for 2 weeks and I had to send him back🙃
This whole video is amazing. Erin talks us through the pros and cons of each horse. Personally I think the last one (5) is the best fit for her at this moment in time. She looks amazing on all horses but this one is special. She seemed to love the last horse best. The way the people cared about the horses there was good. She said she needed a calm, willing, dressage horse I say the last one (5). This is her choice. I am not trying to make a decision for her just giving my opinion. Wish u luck Erin on who u pick. Can't wait to see.🐴🐎💖💖
In my opinion, the last stallion was absolutely amazing. The canter was beautiful and I'm sure it could take u far. Without a doubt, I would pick thus one. It isn't very often that u see horses like this. Love ur vids. I'm a 12 yr old girl and I ride also. I live in Florida. It is so fun to whatch ur content. It honestly couldn't satisfy me more🥰🥰😇💗💗🏇
Sadly most horses aren’t seen as “pets” or companions, they’re just “money” I own 2 imported PRE’s that had scars from both spurs and spike noseband, they’re the sweetest horses but it took me 9 months to get them to trust another human again..
So interesting to watch. I know several people who have gone to Spain to see horses and it was quite heartbreaking the way a few of the horses were kept and treated. The broker seemed to think it was quite natural there, but not how we would treat them..Overall I thought horses no 5. He had a small halter looked relaxed. Ears forward when you greeted him. Nice paces. I wonder which one you thought. 🤔
I don’t know, all of these horses look very fearful to me, they look like they were traumatised and not to go through the trauma again they perform. I wouldn’t buy any of them. Plus Spanish trot look funny, I don’t think it’s my cup of tea but hey ho, as you said, it’s different culture out there...
Number 2!!!! He is the real Spanish horse, I would definitely pick him. The last one is a very nice dressage horse for collecting ribbons, but too much like a wb imo and you already have those so no point in getting another like them. I love it when you can see from afar that it's a PRE. 😍
DEFINITELY number 5 for sure! You looked really well matched with him and he seemed to be treated the best, he was also young enough so he has lots of room for improvement.
As a Spanish rider myself, I can assure you that the metal noseband is NOT POPULAR in Spain. These nosebands may be used in the most traditional south of Spain. Most Spanish riders do not support these nosebands and use common ones. But overall I loved the video Erin there were some beautiful horses there.❤
Just a quick question, so I know the bridle and what it looks like, which horse had the serreta I believe it's called?
Sadly a lot of people do support it, all of my imported PRE horses have scars from this even the one who I got from Portugal😕
I used to ride at a pre stable in cataluña when i lived there and honestly the tack is so extremely harsh and abusive to the horses in most cases..
good to know
I live in the south of Spain and the serreta is really really common here 👎
They have metal ones bound in leather, but then they have pure metal ones with teeth in the underside and that’s what they use to “tame” them... it’s pretty bad unfortunately.
It‘s a sad reality and there‘s not a day that goes by that I don‘t think about how many animals are abused in this supposedly „developed and advanced“ country.
sounds like someone who has no idea about what hes talking about lmao
@@ndarkf So you support serratas? Disgusting.
@@mycrittercity i doubt that youve ever tried them, with the right hands they are harmless
I'm sure that not all breeder are like that. Have you looked for breeders outside Spain?
@@ndarkf why don’t you try one on yourself first, then you can talk
I really like that you talk about the tack and treatment of the horses, I actually don’t think that you have to respect someone’s culture if it harms animals. It’s still not okay!
Nothing soft about wanting the best for horses, it just means you have their wellbeing at the top of your priority list, don't ever think it's you being soft, you're just being human
awe
Thats not what she means. "soft" in horse terms means being gentle and relaxed.
The last horse suits you the most BY FAR, a lot of potential for dressage, and is already used to proper english dressage tack! I immedietly thought he was for you!
Edit: am i like... famous now?
Thx so much for the likes ❤❤
Same
Yeah I agree he is definitely the right Mach for Erin
Yes
i agree
i agree its so pritty and will go so well in your barn and it suits u more with the fact that it has dressage back ground and has freandly gear.
Just because something is traditional doesn't make it OK. I hate that as an excuse. Glad you addressed it.
its nice seeing tack on the last one that won’t potentially harm the horse :) he looked better treated in my opinion and the facilities looked a lot nicer and cleaner too. if i was choosing one id most certainly go for the one best treated as i’d feel horrible for giving money to someone who could have hurt the horses. not trying to diss the culture at all, but being an english rider things are a lot different here!
The thing is if she doesn’t get that horse then it’ll probs get more “abused”
@@scarlettdrummond5758 but if everyone quits buying abused horses there won’t be any money for the abusers and they would have to do something else
@@scarlettdrummond5758 she should buy all their horses and give them loads of money to buy more horses and abuse them too? nope, its not feasible. I would be providing feedback to the stable that the use of such tack has prevented a sale.
That kinda culture isn't that spread out in Spain. Much of us, "imitate" an English rider culture :)
Don't call abuse a cultre!!
Did anyone else notice how each horse physically relaxed when Erin was riding or dealing with them...?
Yes, all horses went better with her than their usual riders. I think that says a lot about how they are trained and treated...
Nah i dont
Yes all the horses could realize that she wasn’t going to yank on their mouth
@@catobusscher6292 rewatch then
I think number 5 was the best one in my opinion, because he really carried himself well, you could see he was a little bit uppity and anxious, but there are tons of reasons that he could be, cause of a new rider, and a new way your riding him that he isn't used too...he looked like a "dressage" horse a little more than the others, and the first one had some lame steps, the third one was HUGEEEE, and the fourth one had an interesting approach with their culture, with the spikey noseband that i don't agree with either. I think its between the 2nd one and the 5th one!
so cute!!
i agree 110%. can't see her going with another one of those horses. 5 for sure
5. Definitely the horse with the most dressage potential
Number 4 or 5 would be my picks :)
The use of the serreta is a big problem now in Spain, people still use it harming their horses and i've seen a lot of wounds on horses noses, i' m totally against them and I' m from Spain, so please let people know that not every one here uses them, we know that the using of serreta is a monstruocity, we are trying to erradicate them.
good to know!
Go for law and boycott horse breeders that abuse animals for show.
The days of Rome are long gone.
The last horse seemed to be closest to what we have here. They used a normal bridle and large ring to train in. I love the silver-colored one but that poor thing....so sad about the metal noseband. Cant wait to see if you get any of these!!
I think that the last horse suits you the best. He was the most '' dressagey" horse. He definitely has A LOT of potential!
Agreed!
I agree! Visually as well, he suits you beautifully! As far as his bit of tension, that will definitely lessen. Very smart, these baroque breed beauties!
Definitely
I agree about the last horse
Okxs
Fab video, the last horse definetely looked the best! Best tack, best movement, and best paces! You looked great on him too. Looks very looked after and healthy
He definitely looked like the most looked after
true!

Thank you for this comment! I‘m a spaniard looking for my first horse and I hate how many „trainers“ abuse their horses. I‘ll look into that yeguada.
We found the horse for Erin and ensured that she was treated very well and got the horse she was looking for.
you could see instantly with horse #4 when you got uncomfortable/upset at the rearing, just shows how amazing of a person you are and how much you care about the horses well being.
Yeh andalusian horses are beautifull horse's my Arabian thinks he's a andalusian lol I just let him think that he's also a beautiful horse
It's only the 20th century
@@aliyahannluce9124 no 20th century was the 1900s. 1st century would have been year 0 to 99.

I think 2 and 5 fit you very well! 5 is more dressage, while 2 seemed the most relaxed and casual.
Good luck with all this horse shopping!💕🐎
i agree. he is the best fit. for all she wants that is the best horse for her
I love the way you approach and cmunicate with the horses, it just looks so natural and you can clearly see "woah, she knows wtat is it all about". My personal favourite was the last horse, but choose which suits you the best
I’d say number 2 or number 5!! Absolutely stunning! I’d also ask Matt if he has anything suitable for you as he now sells Spanish horses
agreed but they're pricey I'll bet...at least we know they are well cared for
i totally agree!!
I was thinking about Matt too
The last stallion suits you! He is amazing, and has so much potential! I see you and him becoming a great pair, and his canter is so beautiful! A stunning horse, with a stunning personality!
"He's so chunky..." ... Him, later: "I'm not fat, I'm BAROQUE"

@Gia Sethi its an excuse but made funny by a horse.. haha
When the third horse was trotting and Erin was saying 'I'm not sure he's trotting' made me crack up so much 😂😂 her face was just like 'what's going on?!?!' 😂😂😂
so funny and cute i want to ride one on day and a Frisian
It was lovely to see all the horses more relaxed when you were riding them, it really showed what a great rider you are! Personally I thought number 4 looked like it had a lot of potential and suited you best - a shame about its situation though! X
I feel number 5 was the best because:
1) he is used English way of riding so you wouldn't have to retrain him
2) he has beautiful movement
3)very chill and looks happy with whatever
4) beautiful horse
true!!
But question is what you are searching for and who you clicked better with :)
About sereta, I think you were unlucky in seeing it used too rough.
@@melanieskovby7625 i have seen bits with spikes and horses with scars in the mouth. Problem is with people .
Geldings look like shit. In many places in the world you don t cut horses balls
@@julienguillaume5010 Not all Geldings look like 'shit' tho, most are very pretty.
But certainly most Stallions are prettier than Geldings
I love the way u care so much about the horses welfare! It's so important ❤

Sad that #1 had soundness issues, I liked his movement best.
Really love how honest Erin was during this video xxx

Yep! Come here!
Ooooh! I like that FIRST ONE...he's a big soft, squishy puppy!
And don't tell me you didn't absolutely SWOON over horse #2 ! Be still my heart!!!
Also a spaniard here! I absolutely despise those nosebands. We still have a long way to go when it comes to animal welfare.
Just happy one of these beautiful horses gets to come and have a wonderful life with you.

Quality is preference I think depending on what you are looking for! I wasn’t looking for a dressage horse, just a sweet and fun one 🥰
"Tradition" is often the reason given to justify abuse (against people and animals) in many cultures. Many others who are looking for PRE horses also complain about this and how many of the horses didn't pass vet checks.
The noseband it's horrible, we have lucky and this thing less people use it. It's very hard for the horse😭
cry about it
@@ndarkf tell me you don’t know how a horses skull, nasal passages or epidermis works without telling me
There were a quite few quality horses.
Number 4 really stood out to me, he had fire in his step and his personality he looks like he’d be a fun addition, plus he had dapples lol, number 5 also a beautiful horse with what seems a interested personality & dapples😂
loved the dapples too!
This is why all 5 horses were keen to go home with you - the old equine dude would far rather retire at home stabled with you Erin, though, with any cruel/shady barn practices, patronizing them can perpetuate the abuse.

This is a big decision Erin , and is totally up to you , this is just my opinion :) All of those horses were absolutely beautiful 💕 Love you Erin 🐎
me too!!!
Oh last one for sure. As soon as I saw you walk up to him it was instant connection. And that canter is to die for.
I saw horse number 2 and instantly fell in love. I can see how happy you are on him, and sure, number 5 has more dressage potential, but as you said earlier in the video your not looking for a flashy, dressage show horse, but a liberty, fun horse with a sweet nature. also, horse number 5 looked a little bit short for you (if you ever want to ride him) and he seemed a little bit spooky with his head tosses and maybe a little bit worse off of the camera. pr maybe it was because the stirrups were too long and that's why he looked short. idk.
The last one 100%! Absolutely stunning and you can tell the yard was a comfortable environment too
I vote for #5. There seemed to be a more relaxed relationship between you and horse. 😃
The Last one definitely!!!! Suits more your riding style, he look super calm also.
Thank you
I’m so excited to see what horse you get! I’m also super excited to see him next to Gee because that would be *chefs kiss*
me too cant wait!!! new video asap!!!
I think the last horse was by far the best horse for you! he seems like the kind of horse that you can create a good bond with.
I loved horse 2 the most as i think it is the most stunning and defo suits you loads!!
me too!!!
i am going with the 5th horse , the fact he was ridden outside and in a drop nose band and was more dressage type he looks like there would be room to train him further and his anxiousness maybe just down to his age and training level, the others looked too mechanical and i think you would have to spend more time undoing than doing! But what ever one you choose will be a super lucky horse to go to your home x
I’m so happy another horse will get erins love
same
awe!!
The last horse was so pretty, I think that it was my fav and was a great mach for Erin.
I think that what ever horse Erin pics is the best choice for her!👍❤🐎
Been waiting all day for this!❤️❤️
yes!!! and already want another one
Can't wait to see.🐴🐎💖💖
I can’t wait to see your new HORSE 🐴 especially in BEAUTIFUL Spain 🇪🇸
i am so excited too!!
The last horse definitely. You two flowed so well together and he is so amazing!
It honestly couldn't satisfy me more🥰🥰😇💗💗🏇
me too!!! wow thats awesome!
When I see this video and Matt’s my heart just goes out to the horses that I feel need more affection in their life. I’d take them in a heart beat
Sadly most horses aren’t seen as “pets” or companions, they’re just “money” I own 2 imported PRE’s that had scars from both spurs and spike noseband, they’re the sweetest horses but it took me 9 months to get them to trust another human again..
me too!
I think the last horse suits you so well and carried himself very nicely, he was very dressagy. And his canter looked beautiful!
The last one is FOR SURE my favorite a he suits u so well !!!
Number 2!!!! He is the real Spanish horse, I would definitely pick him. The last one is a very nice dressage horse for collecting ribbons, but too much like a wb imo and you already have those so no point in getting another like them. I love it when you can see from afar that it's a PRE. 😍
The last horse suits you best with an overall package. What a dream day!
This is so exiting!!! Can’t wait to see wich horse you choose😍🌟
me too!
DEFINITELY number 5 for sure! You looked really well matched with him and he seemed to be treated the best, he was also young enough so he has lots of room for improvement.
