I've been all around India and Ladakh and Kashmir is my favorite 😃. Varanasi is an extremely old city, a bit busy and densely populated. During the partition of India, many refugees came there and started living as begger+saints. Varanasi is very tolerant to saints but it's sure a bit hectic and requires patience and introspection. Rishikesh I haven't been to, but it is very popular with the foreign tourists.

It has all ranges of services to choose from. You can go to a street barber for 0.24 USD or book an exclusive hair spa and saloon and anywhere in between as well. You get what you pay for.
I'm tired of seeing people complaining about Indian trains without seeing all kinds of services it provides.
