    ShartimusPrime Biography:
Inspired by watching boring Transformers action figure reviews, the ShartimusPrime youtube channel was launched in 2008. Engaging the audience with an edgy sense of humor for adult collectors, action figure collecting has never been this fun, and videos are posted daily! Unexpectedly, the channel became more popular for Marvel Legends reviews and Spider-Man, Avengers, and X-Men collection display videos. After a few years, the channel has branched out to review other figure properties aside from Marvel Legends and G1 Transformers Masterpiece. Hot Toys, Star Wars, Diamond Select Toys, DC Collectibles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, Godzilla, Evil Dead, and The Walking Dead toy lines have all been added to the roster of nearly 2,000 video reviews. Japanese import figures from SH Figuarts, Bandai, Figma, Square Enix, and Medicom MAFEX have been favorites as well. More recently, Kotobukiya Statues (including the very sexy Bishoujo line) and NECA Toys have become more prevalent on the channel. Being a big fan of movies such as Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Evil Dead, Pacific Rim, Aliens, and other films has lead the channel in the direction of also reviewing movies, movie trailers, blu ray releases, and tv shows. News updates for 2016 releases and beyond are also posted. Audience engagement is a big part of this channel, with giveaways and fan mail being read publicly once a week in the PO Box Pick-Up videos. Impressive “Shart-Art” is shared via social media and included in the opening theme song. The audience is also kept up to date with any changes to the channel, along with recent comic book pick-ups, unboxings, and action figure hauls. Stop-motion segments punishing the popular meme of the Big Time Let Down Spider-Man close most of the comparison segments, and are compiled together for guaranteed access to patrons. Lastly, all figure reviews close with a slideshow featuring dynamic poses of the figure inspired by ACBA, with the added bonus of music performed and recorded by ShartimusPrime himself.

They dropped the ball (pun intended) on the stands by not having them look like pieces of a basketball court that can lock together with the stands of the other figures.. and maybe a separately sold court.

Bro are you being purposely naive. Hasbro would NEVER give you a court for free. Your getting that at the most insane price point with two players you won’t even want. They wouldn’t even give you a hoop without up-charging the shit out of you. They can’t even add a couple more joints the stand.

Pretty weird that they don't include tattoos on these figures. Mattel puts most if not all of the tattoos on their WWE figures same thing with Jazzwares with their AEW figures. Not sure how Hasbro being the biggest toy company in the market are unable to put tattoos on their sports figures.

The WWE recently lost a lawsuit to a tattoo artist over her work (on Randy Orton) being displayed in their video game, so I’d imagine action figure companies are probably reconsidering whether they’ll be able to give us tattoos going forward. If they do give us tattoos, they’ll probably have to be pretty generic looking.

@@intothevoid81 Time will tell I guess, but Mattel recently showed off 2 newer Randy Orton figures with all his tats still intact no modifications so who knows what they might do. Lot's of figures in AEW line has very detailed tats like Chris Jericho being a good example. I heard somewhere that WWE is still pushing forward with this case looking without the jury making the final decision.

great review, was curious about the shoes on these figures. Curry and Embiid are the only figures in wave 1 without a Nike sneaker deal so I was curious to see if he'd have on his signature shoes since he's with Under Armour. It does look like the Curry 9 and taking a peek at that booklet it comes with it looks like they do closeups of the sneakers as well so I'm glad they're making that detail a priority.
I wonder if other players having deals separate from Nike will effect how soon we see them in the line.

I heard somewhere that WWE and/or Mattel got sued for royalties by the artist that did Randy Orton's sleeve for including the tattoo on figures. Maybe Hasbro didn't want to try and clear the artwork on top of the license fees to the NBA, the players union, the players themselves, Nike, Adidas Underarmor. I doubt they'd just cheap out on paint (that much), but I can see them not tracking down which players own their tattoo rights, which don't, and which tattoo artists have to get paid.

What really bothers me in the articulation is that the neck set up should be great (look at how well Mafex Spidey is able to move his neck), but Hasbro just isn't good at making double ball pegs. Because of that, people keep asking for the disk hinge to return, even though that'll limit the range to only go forward and backward.

Would just get the MAFEX basketball players. They’re just a bit more expensive (on release). And they’re leaps and bounds better In articulation and accessories (magnetic ball, switchable shoes) compared to these guys. The problem is that they’re mostly doing big names like MJ and Lebron. But if you got to have NBA figures they’re the tops for 1/12 scale.
Also fabric Jerseys allow them to actually use their waist articulation. The starting line up figures have good sculpts but you got to cut off that plastic jersey and replace it with a in scale fabric one.

There is something off about the chunkiness of the upper body and joints. It doesn't sell or make any of the poses look realistic. Mafex has a great blueprint for basketball figures with the cloth jersey and shirts. I don't think you can get these figures in a accurate looking shot form or move the arm across the body. So about the tattoos; recently, the tattoo artist for Randy Orton has successfully sued Mattel for copyright on the tattoos on his figure. While the decision is more than likely working through higher courts, that may be a reason the tattoos are missing from these figures, as they were already having to do the extra step of licensing the shoes and it not being worth the possibility of any lawsuits.

I find this to be a BS excuse. I can't wait to see the court battles and claims of artists, that they somehow own part of another persons body and therefore have rights to revenues that person generates. Remember when you bought something and you actually then owned it, the good ole days lol. Someone needs to write a new law to make this clear and legally change the term for type of sales from "buying" to "leasing without possibility of ownership"

The irony being this is nearly the exact argument the artist used, claiming that without their art the product wouldn't have been as successful. Honestly, I would figure arguing against that would be easier for 2K, as I've never heard anyone say they wouldn't buy a game over Orton's tattoos but we'll probably have loads of threads about how the lack of tattoos on these are a deal-breaker.

I really do not like the scale on this, I was hoping it would be more in line with Legends/Joe Scale. Considering that the line is going to feature a ton of reused parts, they probably should have just started at a little larger. Other drawback is that it looks very much like everyone is going to be pretty close in height, and I imagine when they add the other sports they'll maintain that, regardless of the fact that basketball players are generally a full head or more taller than the other sports.
If licensing costs money, then they should just pull the Nike license at least from the figure. That is a degree of accuracy that people won't mind seeing missing if it saves a few dollars on the figure. I thought it was going to come with a basket as part of it's accessories, but apparently that isn't the case.
I might pick up an MLB one when it happens, but I doubt it's a line I'll ever have an interest in at the price point it's selling for.

Im not saying the price point is fair but I think the figure is targeted for basketball super fans or sports super fans in general. They tend to buy expensive merchandise to represent their favorite team. I just dont believe that a jersey would be very expensive and other accessories sports teams sell. Hasbro is capitalizing to those people.

the price point ruins any intrest for me. It goes towards all that stuff and then it goes to the useless NFT that apparently these figures come with. I think it needed more accessories and the tatts. I think I would have gotten them if they were classic players. I would have spent the money on Kobe, Shaq, Wilt CHamblin, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan. I like the maefex ones I wanna get the MJ one eventually. Those come with tats and way more accessories, but they are a hefty price.
