    I miss London so much! I love this side of the river, especially walking towards the east. When I lived there, I tried to do a similar walk, but as soon as I entered the Canary Wharf, security stopped me and told me not to record the financial district. You had some luck, maybe a smaller camera helps as well compared to my big gimbal and a heavy lens on a Sony mirrorless 😀
    Have a nice weekend!

    Very nice walk under the sun, along the Thames, on the north bank. Warehouses very well transformed into apartments often very well exposed. The bank of the Thames is very nice too. Canary Wharf is a town unto itself!!. Very beautiful buildings too, all very flattering to the eye!!. To visit quietly.

    Hi there, What strikes me most about this route is how few shops there are among all the residences. There were three famous pubs along the route and a Riverside Stores in Narrow Street and that’s about it! For London where you expect to be really close to shops at all times, this seems strange to me.

    • @watchedwalker
      @watchedwalker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John, yes I noticed that too, especially considering how many apartments there are, I wonder how many are actually occupied.

    • @johnorchin8567
      @johnorchin8567 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@watchedwalker It does make you wonder! We know a lot of properties in London are bought for investment purposes, and their owners live abroad, and as there were so few people walking around, I would say a lot are not occupied. It’s rathe nice walking around the posh areas of London, and having the streets all to yourself, but it is wrong when people need housing.

    At 57:00-58:00 why is there a dry river on one side and wet on the other? A lock system?

    • @johnfromengland2620
      @johnfromengland2620 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, not a lock, it's just an inlet from the river. This video was shot at low tide: at high tide, the "dry" side is all underwater -- you can see how high the tide rises from the green parts of the walls at the sides of the inlet.

    Despite having four attempts - Olaf could only locate TWO of your logos - so he is very disappointed. Whilst he understands that they should not be over-obvious to spot, making it too difficult defeats the object, and the punters will eventually stop looking?
    Logos aside, I thoroughly enjoyed the content of your videos which have taken me, as a non-resident, to a London I had no idea existed - so thanks for that.

    The Tower Hotel really deserves preservation as a magnificent example of 70s brutalism. Voted second most hated building in London in a 2006 poll! ☺
