Listen to the joyful birds singing their song spreading their happiness as far as the ear can hear. Bugs has mastered passing the ASMR feeling through his mighty little fingers by slapping them on to my forehead with his mighty lil love taps. Nobody can work it like The Bug Man can.. He owns me.. Life is too short to fit in!!

I just think it's incredible to see a creature concentrate on something like this. It not like a dog or cat clean where it's just licking an area but a meticulous routine and focusing on the smallest flecks and hair. Not to mention the dexterity. So interesting to see
its a social thing for them
And then they slap you.
Survival instinct. In the wild they would be depending on each other to stay clean and find insects/parasites in the fur. Not only is it a way to bond, it is a means to keep each other healthy.
@ZootWorld1 fun fact the slapping is to get bugs to run around. But I think these slaps are just personal. 😁

I am totally against people owning primates, but having said that I have to congratulate you on keeping Bugs and not dumping him into a sanctuary. You hardly ever see an adult macaque in a home . He is adorable!
I adopted Bugs when he was 14 months old.. He is 20 now.. He was the first monkey rescued at Misfitland.. We now have 4 rescued monkeys..

The slaps are basically a muscle memory thing for them as they use it to clear dirt and smack at bugs to get them to come out , even if they don’t find anything they will still slap as it’s again a muscle memory type habit !

Why do monkeys slap while grooming?
It's a way for showing they are friendly to higher grade animals, children, and one approaching another animal to groom. This will also be accompanied by lip smacking. Plus slapping stirs up any bugs that maybe hidden.
I actually just wanted to relax and fall asleep until the slapes started and just lost it. I laugh so hard that my son woked up🙄🙄😅

Actually this is one of the reasons behind ASMR and why we as humans also preen, clean, etc. It's evolutionary.
