There's quite a penalty for removal of land from tree growth. We were told by the town a couple years back that there would be a 10K penalty to remove 5 acres from the tree growth program for a homesite.

Not sure when the last harvest was done. It was a long time ago. Passadumkeag Mountain does have windmills on it. Part of the property is in the tree growth tax program the 510 acre part of it.

This property is not under federal control. Part of it is in the tree growth current use tax program which keeps the taxes more as long as it is growing trees. 40 acres where the cabin is and higher up the hill is not in the program.
Judging by the booster tank being in an unheated space and the reference to "clearing out the water line for the winter" early in the vid, they've never intended to use this property in winter.

I've heated my house solely with an unvented propane heater since 2009. The are safe and more efficient than vented heaters because you lose heat up your exhaust. You get all your heat from the SAFE unvented ones.
I know others that also heat exclusively with these units. I have them in my cabin, but I didn’t like them very much. They do put off a lot of moisture.
I can't believe no one ever put a wood stove in this place. It's not that hard, All the water is on exterior facing walls there's no way you could be up here in the winter time especially with the cold snap we're having now.
Over $500,000 for a 3 season cabin is steep. I could maybe see if it was on a lake and i understand the 500 acres but that is quite steep. For half that price you can go further north and get a year round home with power .

But ones going to need to maintain the lot access road for your fuel deliveries and or repairs if you're not a DIY jack of trades type person/people. It gets expensive. And be honest. This is a property for folks under age 60. It sucks coming across a dead body some place and having to clean up after it( in a building/home) Need to pull the walls/flooring out to get rid of stains/ smell( who wants to enter a room seeing stains/ smelling dead meat smells every time one enters..no thanks.)) Thanks though. Great looking property. Maine away from the coast is great too.

My parents bought 70 acres for 12k northern maine
