I use madkatz rods mainly but also use firesticks and meathunters too. What I like the most about the madkatz medium and medium heavy is their light weight and flex. That tip is flexable enough as to where I can get some good hooksets but are strong enough to handle big fish. What I do not like is the price and shipping. 90 dollars to some may not be too bad, but to me its expensive. I just wish they would cost around 70 dollars. Thats the only gripe I have on madkatz rods..
Excellent video Dieter. And everything you said about these rods was true from my experience fishing with you. I got a very forgiving rod bend when you hooked me on my 31lb blue cat. The flex in the rod was super nice and forgiving when my wife caught her 16lb blue cat. Loved when she said "Oh, it's heavy." I saw no issues like you say trolling with the planer boards. I think you make a good point about not being as good an option for bank fishing because of casting distance but even then it would probably work fine. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to fishing with you again next year. Anyone considering a guide trip with you should do it. Less than five minutes into the trip Dieter makes you feel like you are old friends.
Agree with the rod size. Going Mad Katz for the 6-6 kayak rod. Just purchased a Piscifun reel following your review of spin casters. I just lack the patience for bait cast. I'll do 3-4 hours in the yak and another few hours from the bank some days.
Another good vid! I have been using BCF Medium Lights the last year or so drifting/trolling 100% of the time in NC. All the good features you noted, and another one is they make a 10lber feel like something vs overpowering a smaller fish, all the while having enough backbone to handle up to 48lbs for me (My PB). I do know others that have caught 100lb'ers on these rods (lake setting). I agree, wouldnt use them in the River throwing a couple of ounces of weight
Have you every used a Daiwa BeefStick xh 6’6”? I just bought one and it seems pretty good so far the real test is catching a nice sized catfish with it.
I use to use mad Katz had 2 mad Katz panther Roda mh broke both within a year on 20lb cats I know use bnm sliver cat elites and have never had a problem
I love noodle rods. The old Shakespeare WonderRods are one of my favs. Yes, they help keep the rod loaded for beginners but if you know how to use them, they're plenty powerful to control the biggest of catfish. Funny story, CTF has promo vids showing these rods getting bent, slammed in tailgates, etc.. Well I didn't realize it were the trolling model rods and thought I could bend the tip of a regular bcf med action and I broke it lol.
Hi Dieter, big fan of your videos. I wanted to ask you a question thats not related to this particular video. I am writing it here as it is the most latest one of yours. I started using circle hooks recently. And my question is, whether I should snell them or not. I don't know if it needs to be done based on the type of shank ( straight vs bent eye.)Would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thank you !!
I like carp rods but I bank fish and they seem to give me the most versatility they can cast a 2-3 oz weight really far when you need to get out there and they're really sensitive
Hey Dieter, great video as always. I own three steiper stealth rods and three big cat fever rods. I love them. One question, do you think the flexible tip can be too "soft" when using circle hooks? I've always wondered that when I've had missed hookups with them.
I have the cat fever rods. I prefer the medium heavy. Little bit of flex on line set but strong for the big cats. Have on ugly thats a heavy action, that thing dosent have any flex at all. Hard to get a tight line set, it pulls the line loose everytime.
Hey Dieter I've never used a BCF rod and I bank fish at Hopewell mostly. What action would you suggest for being able to throw 6-8 ounces of weight and hand sized baits? Thanks and great videos
Mad Katz or Whisker Seeker, Medium-Heavy or Heavy. I'm a bank fisherman(mostly) and have never used better than those two. 7'6"-9' is my preferred length.
Get the heavy action and remove all doubt. If you need 8 ounces, then sooner or later you'll need 10-12 ounces.....go with the heavy action Big Cat Fever Hellcats or one of their other styles....
Unfortunately they have changed that rod very minor but priced it up with the better rods. Love my ugly stik cats but for the new price I will probably change when replacing
Love mine , can't live without them , they put fish on my table EVERYTIME . Great video !

Thanks for sharing. BCF trolling rods are my favorite. I also use them when I anchor in lakes . They handle 3&4 oz no rolls just fine for me .
Just tried them for the first time today on wylie ! Love them !

Great review, been waiting on this one to see how they were doing. Thanks!

I utilize a lot of Meat Hunter rods. From 6 to 16 feet depending on circumstances. They may not be perfect but, they are economical and tough.
Not to mention the owner of meat hunter Charles crook is one of the nicest most down to earth guy youll ever meet
I’ve bought this trolling rod but haven’t received it yet. I mostly bank fish and I’m wondering can I use this trolling rod for bank fishing???
Sure….depending on the action, the medium will cast for their than the lighter action…..
It hold 10-40lb LINE 1-6oz Medium light.
Thanks for the info and I love your channel !
Nice review Dieter. Thanks again for all the awesome content! 👊🏻

Always snell circles
I have always liked Ugly Stiks. The old school ones. They make about 6 or 8 different kinds now. I don't know about the newer varieties.
I like carp rods but I bank fish and they seem to give me the most versatility they can cast a 2-3 oz weight really far when you need to get out there and they're really sensitive
Another great video! Gonna spot you on Wylie one day 😊
I like the composite slimecats.. lighter than most Catfish rods.

Madkatz medium heavy is rated 2-16oz weight. I fish Hopewell too.
I like mad katz and b&m rods but them okuma decent to
Why do so many of these catfish rod companies put the reel seats on backwards? It is making it very hard to choose one.
Do you ever use menhaden oil as an attractant ?
Great video, Thank you
How I order
I'm just a bank fisherman. I've been using Uglystik for years, good rod for the $$.
Unfortunately they have changed that rod very minor but priced it up with the better rods. Love my ugly stik cats but for the new price I will probably change when replacing
Ive used ugly stixs my whole life. I just order a twc med hev just to try something different.
Gramage !?
I'll stay with my ugly stiks. 👍

💪
The majority of that extra length is in the butt. It helps with those bigger fish battles, but not with casting.

First to like to lol
Hey Deter give me a shout out Lost Creek Catfish
They probably are good rods but so UGLY!! LOL. They need to put some color on the rods and get away from that cork!
