Let me say just a few words about the method (sorry for my English): I realized that you actually rotate the first knot (the first part of the double stitch) with 360 degree (from top to front then from front to bottomthen from buttom to back then from back to top, and that is the way you get the correct position of the firs knot. :)) This rotation happens when you pull the second loop from front to back and to top.
I think she explains this very well. I want to make an observation about shuttles though. If you have a shuttle with a point/pick/hook on it you can do this without dropping the shuttle. Her shuttle obviously doesn't have this, which some people prefer, and then they use hooks like she does. :)

Late in replying.... but try to tat with the hook pointing away from you when using an Aero type shuttle (one with a hook attached)
