この物語は地獄谷野猿公苑の群れの偉大なメス頭（いわゆる女王、メスの序列１位のサル）である「トックリ00」の全盛期を追い続けたドキュメンタリーです。
地獄谷野猿公苑の群れは公苑設立以来、現2023年までの間に8頭のメス頭が存在してきました。
この「トックリ00物語」の主人公の「トックリ00」は地獄谷野猿公苑史に名を残すことになるでしょう。
日本全国のモンキーパークのメス頭を見てもトックリ00ほどの強烈な存在感と個性を持ったメスは存在しないと思います。
トックリ00は世界中に多くのファンを持っています。
トックリ00は8代目、今もなお現存するメス頭です。
トックリ00は2013年にメス頭の座につきました。
私が彼女の存在を知り密着を始めたのは2015年からです。
この「トックリ00物語」はトックリ00の全盛期である2015年～2019年をメインに、その前後も多少含めて展開していきます。
ぜひこの偉大なメス「トックリ00」を知っていただき、この極寒の山岳地帯に今も生きているトックリ00の強烈な生き様をこの「トックリ00物語」で楽しんでいただければ、と思います。

Hi Kiyo! I've watched all of your videos, but I can't remember whether you've told us what happened to the mother of the adopted baby or how the baby ended up being raised by Tokkuri.

I don't think it's ever mentioned in detail, but it's assumed that the adopted baby got lost or was abandoned by it's original mother twice, and both times ended up with Tokkuri. Most mothers aren't naturally drawn to another baby if they already have one, but because of her status as matriarch she has more free reign to be able to take on another one without worrying about not getting enough food. The fact that the baby got lost twice leads me to assume it's mother abandoned it, which doesn't normally happen but is usually due to some sort of neurological issue with the mother that is akin to postpartum depression in humans. It's an abnormal situation and it's understandable why the family was confused as to how to treat him, but it looks like both boys were able to survive and thrive due to Tokkuri's mothering and making sure her biological son was weaned early (though both will still get milk occasionally until they're completely weaned by about 9-12 months old).
@@kendee_ Thanks very much for this information! Not only is it thourogh, but it's fascinating too. The only channels about monkeys that I watch are Kiyo's two channels and the Vervet Monkey Foundation and before there was the automatic translation and especially the closed captions, I knew plenty about vervets, but absolutely nothing about snow monkeys, except what I could figure out from watching these videos over time.
I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate you filling me in on this!! Knowing the backstories of the various monkeys and the details of their relationships makes these already great videos even better!! Ciao! 🙂

If you want more curated footage of macaques in their natural habitats, I'd also recommend the TH-cam channels *Monkeys Inc, JW, and Arroz Marisco* (who has a secondary channel called *The Story So Far* that is updated more frequently). They each follow different troops of Rhesus Macaques in Hong Kong's Monkey Hill park and are very careful not to disturb the monkeys.
