@@mikehenry5817 Hy Mike🙋♀️ Yeah, finally again, been away....again😉😁 We visited a festival in a small, historic town called Schiedam. We’ve never been there and we were very pleasently surprised. Learned a lot about the history, a lot of historic well kept buildings and Schiedam is known throughout the world for the Dutch Genever (called jenever in Dutch) and still has a lot of distilleries. We visited the Jenever Museum where they still distill in the old Dutch method from the 17th century! Very, very interesting and a lot of hard work to make! They still use barley and rye milled in a mill in walking distance from the distillery. They were preparing a mash when we were there which smelled great and had a lovely explanation from one of the distillers about the process. Although i’me not a fan of jenever, I do love to see how its produced. The festival was great too! Its called The International Dutch Distillers Festival or IDDF and was held for the first time. It ended with some concerts and one of my favorite Dutch singers, Danny Vera and his band, performed there! Rollen once reacted to a song called Rollercoaster from him. So we had a really lovely time in Schiedam❤️😁 See you on the🚌 later Mike and have a lovely day😁✨🌞👋👋🤘🕊
@@anneliespeters5355 that sounds really cool😁👍. I gotta start keep notes on these places😏, start adding them to the bucket list that I never really started 😏😉👍. One of these days I'm gonna visit over there for sure! I've always wanted to go since I was a kid. I'm not totally sure why, it just seems that in movies, and history that I have found, all paint your region as a very beautiful, and humble area of the globe. Very old fashioned, but not 3rd world kinda stuff. A place where traditional values are kept, and passed down. Even if new traditions come, the old are still remembered. I could absolutely be wrong here, but that's the perception I have gotten. It's really not far off here, it's just we have so many different cultures and ideas, that everything just feels commercialized. Pick a holiday, pick a tradition, enjoy this one today, and that one tomorrow, for $29.99 you can enjoy this one today😏. A bit of an exaggeration there, but not crazy far from the truth. Everything has it's pros and cons, but something about honoring good old traditional values just hits home for me😏. Our school district here is two towns combined. Apalachin, where I am, was more of the farm land, and out skirts, Owego on the other hand, is a historical town, with prominent names such as Rockefeller, who actually attended the Owego free academy, which is my highschool 😏. The old big houses on front street just amaze me everyday for my entire life. I've been in a few, worked on some others, and I will say nothing compares to old craftsmanship 😉👍. I love history, all of it. I remember diving holes as a kid for what ever purpose, find an old beer can, and just be amazed with the look, the possibilities of how old it was, who put it there, what were they doing at the time, something about that stuff just seriously gets my mind going😁👍. I gotta go get some stuff done and be productive, so I'm gonna leave it there, and I shall catch up with you at some point hun😉👍. Glad you had a wonderful time❤️🔥😁👍
@@mikehenry5817 Oh Mike, i’me sure you’re gonna love all the historical places in the Netherlands and Belgium, where we live close to, as well! But we, on the other hand, like the vastness and rugged nature of America and the history of your indigious people! Every part of the World has its own interresting and exciting places, our lives and times are just to short to discover them all in person but we allways can dream about them! Sometimes dreams come true😉😁👋👋👍🤘🕊
