Twenty point Programme
I. Introduction
• The Twenty Point Programme (TPP) was initially launched by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975.
• The programme was first revised in 1982 and again in 1986.
It has been finally restructured in 2006 and it has been in operation at present.
• The restructured Programme, called Twenty Point Programme - 2006 (TPP-2006), was approved by the Cabinet on 5th October, 2006 and operated.
• Although the TPP has been in existence for the last 30 years, it is still relevant today
• These 20 Points covers 66 items out of which 25 items will be monitored on monthly basis, remaining items will be monitored on annual basis
• In the Monthly Progress Report, the performance will be categorized as under:-
Very Good’ performance - the achievement is 90% or more of targets.
‘Good’ performance - the achievement is between 80% and 90% of targets.
‘Poor’ performance - the achievement is below 80% of targets.
II. DEFINITION
“ In 1975, the govt. of India launched a national programme called ‘The 20 Point Programme’ to create an opportunity for both the political and economic development and later it was restructured as Twenty Point Programme - 2006 (TPP-2006)”.
III. OBJECTIVES OF TPP
