really nice antenna information. 🥳 I have a good place for an antenna however I will have to 1st plant a tree. 🤔 thanks a lot for your creative ideas. 🤩
There is nothing wrong with being cheap. Your are in the right hobby. Us Hams are some real cheap folks. I enjoyed your video and keep up the great job Rob. 73 AE4OY William Peacock EM-81UF SOUTH EAST GEORGIA
Great tour! I'll have to send you the link to my own tilt over mast I finished about five weeks ago. I've never seen your video pertaining to your tilt over, but amazingly enough our designs are almost identical!! Hahahaha! Go figure.
Yeah - send me the link, I'd like to see it. I came up with that after a trip to Home Depot one day but after I built it realized others had done this before me so i guess its pretty common.
Setting up my first shack this morning. Actually antennas, is it ok to use thicker PVC pipe as a mast? Or something else? I have so many questions about antennas. 😂 Thanks for your input
Nice variety of antennas. Thanks for giving us a look. I have to agree with the 'Gm4zji' comment. I too would have a ball with all the room and all the trees you have. I live in an HOA with a very small lot and my only tree is about 9 foot tall...lol!
“Cheap and cheerful “ I like it 😁 great video and setup. I have a 5 or 6 element 6 meter beam I would love to get in the air, darn thing is too long (27’) until I get some limbs cut back.
Inverted L on 160 with a elevated folded counter poise. K2AV has great website with lengths and specs on the transformer. Maybe we can chat on 160 KC3ONO
Consider a full wave loop on 160. And use your higher ground to elevate a portion and tilt it a bit to west for a better take off angle to catch Midwestern states on the bounce.
Best time for 160M is in about a month and through the winter. Top band kingdom is of a different flavor. As a General i love it cause the whole band is available.
Sweet Setup. I have a small yard with no Trees. I'm using a 40-10 EFHW and a Homebrew J-Pole for 2 meters and 440. Im Thinking on adding a HF Vertical.
Hopefully my next home will have a bigger piece of property for a "real antenna farm" I like your layout a lot! Hopefully the sunspot gods will smile upon us again so you can enjoy your 10/11 meter antenna!
Nice antenna farm !! I say definitely set the new one up , and in my opinion , which isn’t much , put 5 bucks with it and you might get a value meal at a drive through lol ,, go with all stainless steel hardware , put it up once , the right way , seal everything up with some quality epoxy or RTV due to your harsh winters and storms in the summer , and enjoy it for years to come !! 73’s to you , I’m studying for my general ,, maybe down the road we might QSO 👍. Stay safe , have a blessed week , great video
Thanks Dallas - great suggestions! Good luck with General - if there is anything I can do to help, just say the word. I look forward to making contact with you on HF.
Stainless steel bolts and brass nuts -- the ultimate solution to corrosion. Stainless steel-on-stainless steel, regardless of alloy, has an annoying tendency to friction weld, seize, and become unremovable.
Nothing wrong with being a cheap skate, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You have loads of trees to put up a 160 meter antenna, dipole of end fed. But with all those trees it is a shame not to put them to good use.
Maco WOW, great antenna. CB'ers went nuts over it, that one and the Alpha 5/8. Go for it, a new fan, and string a 160. Question, Seeing I moved my shack I need to lengthen my coax on a CF, EF, OCF, 2/440 antennas. I eighter need to buy all new, or add 30 feet to each using barrels/double females. Do you think the loss will be noticeable?
You should be OK with barrel connectors on HF and not notice a difference. You might notice some loss at 2/440 depending on what type of coax you are using.
Why not replace the 6 meter antenna with a small 3 or 4 element tribander(10,15,20)? I used the same rotor that you have on your 6 meter antenna to rotate my tribander for 10 years without issues. Looks like you have enough room to put up a few more dipoles. I have worked the world on dipoles on the cheap like you're doing. Maybe a 2 meter antenna placed up high in a tree so you can work the local stuff plus the out of band 2m stuff on your beofeng. You'd be amazed at what you'd hear out there on VHF outside of 144-148mhz. I was going to college in Boston when I passed the 5 wpm code test and received my novice license. I had an area "1" call sign for years even though I'm from the land of "7" area designator. Nice little antenna farm!!! I like Mindy's realism art. She is really a fine artist.
Your bolt together CB radio tower, When you drill a hole through a piece of tubing you completely destroy the integrity of that tube there's no reason to have three bolts and something that only the top bolt is actually holding only until you get a good gust of wind. Hose clamps might have been better choice because you don't have any holes drilled through any tubes you'd actually have structural integrity just saying not to be a hater.
I get your point but since this has been up (7 years) the pole has only bent the one time shown in the video. The bend point was nowhere near where I drilled the bolt holes.

Use the same rotator on a full size 3 ele yagi with a dual band 17 ele above works OK but will be upgrading
Thanks for sharing.

Does anyone know where online I can find Laws in regards to regulations on Ham Radio Antennas?
Antenna rules are usually set by your local town or county government
A real antenna farm, with a lot of trees surrounding. Very pleasantly secluded though.

@@SevenFortyOne I sent you a couple of emails. Have a great day!
If you could only have four outdoor ham antennas what would you choose

I once used pvc and it was ok for a small, light antenna but deteriorated from uv exposure after a couple of years

Really nice job done on that 50mhz Beam Antenna. Keep up good work. Vy 73's & stay safe

I'll check it out, thanks!

I've thought about a loop and might do that. Ny land slopes to the east though....
Then go for Europe!

Nice collection of antennas! You put a lot of work into those over the years... You can tell :)

Nice!♡♡♡ 🤜🏻👍🤛🏻
Thanks!
Nice video, what camera do you film with? The picture quality is really nice and sharp.
Thanks! The lighting was good the day I shot this so that helped. I'm just using a canon m50 with the kit lens.
Reminder on 👍

(facebook) amateur radio antennas large and small (all over the world)

Nice antenna farm! Live in a older area with above ground power lines, super high noise floor. Need to get a vertical super high, we'll see. Take care
