Ok, thanks.....well I just viewed the videos and I agree!!! A&T was BY FAR the most musically entertaining and creative band of the evening!!! CUDOS! GREAT JOB!!!
I'm not a part of the Blue and Gold Marching Machine, but I can attest the countless hours they practice. I hear them in the stadium, hot or cold, rain or shine, practicing to be the best. They proved it. Congratulations to all the members, past and present, who helped form this band into what it is today. AGGIE PRIDE!
I am a SWAC devotee and and proudly marched as a member of the Alabama State University Mighty Marching Hornets. I tip my hat to North Carolina A&T's Marching Band. Outstanding performance. Stellar!!!!!!! #payingcreditwherecreditisdue
Anyone Else notice that the crowd loved the band more for playing more, rather than doing a dance routine? Dance Routines are nice and all, but some bands dedicate 1/3 of their show to it and it is just boring most of the time, Obviously NC A&T realized this. People who go to the honda want to see them play!!!! dancing is for the general public, but when you got a house full of "BandHeads" they wanna hear ya play!!!
Wow Finally an HBCU Band finally takes the steps and uses DCI Routines in there own show. Finally!!!!! The three Line at the end was just like the Line from DCI Madison Scouts 2013 Show. At Least a Show band finally uses DCI and Show Style methods. Thats how you win. Way to Go Aggie Pride. Something that all the rest of the bands need to take note of.
Totally saw a Carolina Crown, Cavaliers, a little Cadets, and Madison Scouts segments in their show and I'm not even mad at it. This was the most entertaining show from this year. For the record, don't sleep on DCI. It's just as good, just has to be your cup of tea though.
Their auxiliary gave me so much life!!! That was the best BOB I've been to, and I'm so glad they won! They're the most versatile, creative, amazing auxiliary in the nation, no other line can touch them. They're so unique because they spin, twirl, AND dance, and they are on the field the entire show.
What a fantastic show!!!!!! That's the way you put it all on the line. Thank you members and directors alike for the hard work that it took to put on such a show like this. I really do appreciate you guys being so bold and creative. Everyone.....dancers, flags, prop members, etc. Great job!!!!
First band to get my respect for actually doing some real formations, real marching at different speeds, and not just blaring out off tune notes. You can tell there is a lot of work put in for their shows. Black colleges never get respect because there is never real marching or difficult music. Mad respect.
I came here because of watching Drumline - this marching band is serious. 👍 I’m not even from the states and I wanna travel just to watch this band play.
Welcome to the world of Black College Bands. If you're a high school student, you may want to consider attending NC A&T's High School Band Camp over the summer if they have one.
I'm an SCSU bulldog all the way, but I'm also corp style from high school. I must say that A&T represented both every well in this performance. It had a balance of exciting elements and sound to match. Truth is , if band like LSU and Auburn can play Neck and boogie, then high stepping bands should be willing to show diversity as well. In the name of entertainment and education we are all one. Well done A&T.*tips hat*
From a MMH Alum and former DCI Participant, that show brought a tear to my eye...That tri line transition at the end of the show was off the hook!!! Great job BGMM!!! Much respect from this old head... #thumbsup
yeah they finally did what the other HBCU couldn't do. Finally using some DCI mix in with Show style methods. Something the other bands need to start doing. And then everyone keeps on bragging on Southern University being number one. Yeah right. SU band has been doing the same thing every year nothing different. But Glad A&T Won it. That show was freaken awesome. I watch it twice and i was like what???
Travis Cyprien why knock SU's band *who was not there) in the process of congratulating NCAT's band? its pretty unnecessary. Also. . Many HBCU bands use methods that are common in Drum Corps performances .. please don't give "DCI" any credit they don't deserve. NCAT has been doing what they do for a VERY long time.
Book Multimedia Book i had seen you comment. i wasn't trying knock off SU or try to give DCI Credit. what i was trying to mean is that at least put new things into shows. NC A&T used Two drills that are use by DCI. The three line formation is from DCI Madison Scouts 2013 Show. But as far as putting SU Band in the mix. i am trying to get the attention of the SU Band to step up because you seen for your own eyes who won that number one spot. Ohio State. The reason is that they step up and created different drills with the help of I Pads to create the field Formations. even though they do traditional drills they learn to put in new items to keep the crowd saying wow. If SU were to do big things such as this. Then SU would be unstoppable. But i have been watching the band for years and well i have seen the same drills every year and i think that its getting boring and old. Nothing is wrong with what they do, but just upgrade to keep your crowd entertain. That's why NC A&T won because they keep the crowd entertained. Like GSU Director Dr. Thomas said Keep the crowd on there feet you know its a good show. But if the crowd is just sitting down and not enjoying it then we have a problem. If you look at many bands today they are trying to Upgrade. Even though the bands i am going to name are Corp style they have did traditional shows before but they have decided to upgrade. Western Carolina University Pride of the mountains is a prime example. Look up WCU 2012 and WCU 2013 Pride of the Mountains and you will see what i mean.
Travis Cyprien I feel ya man!, I agree. I honestly do have somewhat of a pet peeve about the DCI comparison. . I was recently told in a thread that the End portion of the show was somewhat of a "Do or Die" situation and they pulled it off greatly. it shows that there are No Boundaries just Limitations based on choice and standard, A&T has done similar in its history & they are constantly reinventing themselves ,
WOW! Amazing performance by A&T. I love how they stepped outside the box and incorporated corp style with their usual high-stepping style. The color guard with their angel wings and change of flags added to the overall general effect of this great performance. The dancers were excellent as well. This complete performance was well received by the crowd. This performance proves that black audiences can and do appreciate a corp style, especially when it is presented to them with the energy that AT&T presented it. One of the best halftime performances I have seen.
Honestly, if you disagree or bash A&T’s show, then you are clearly either a hater, or you completely lack musicianship. I can understand if their style might not be your taste but to discredit them or to even say they shouldn't have won is crazy to me. They’re show may have not be perfect or even mastered completely like DCI bands but at least they tried!........They TRIED! They brought something NEW, something your favorite band has not done and probably never will do. This was a “Battle of the Bands”….they did what they had to do to get the crowd’s attention and the crowd loved it! No one wants to see the same thing from every band over and over…..a cheap drill, dance feature, and boring concert selection and a dance routine filled with songs that every band there will perform! (not to mention some bands were doing parts of their shows from the previous season, NCAT had a brand new show…with NEW music-----but that’s another subject) I read one comment where someone said that “we should stick to what we do best and that’s high stepping”, that’s the most IGNORANT comment I’ve yet to see posted. You completely missed what the ending of NCAT’s show was about, it was about showing the world that HBCU bands can do more than just dance and play pop and rap songs! Who says we as African Americans have to stick to one style! You definitely need to open your mind. I don’t care what no one else says, NCAT is going to force a lot of bands to change and step their game up! I don’t attend NCAT, but they gave definitely made me a fan and a believer in them. Coming from a BCU wildcat, Thank you North Carolina A&T for bringing diversity and entertainment to HONDA 2014!
If you want to see and hear a much better version of the entire show, check out "The Night Show" by Thomas Jones, Jr.'s version on TH-cam. It will blow you away.
Easily the best band performance shows style or corp style I ever seen. They gave a lil bit of everything, and executed it well! Best HBCU drumline this year!
To they cut UP!!!! They just won me over with that one show! Pure musicianship. Great song selection and field show. Articulated very well. Plus the DCI take on the drum break and the accompany front ending!!!
Mellos ruled the closer....they took command with the trumpets......IMPRESSIVE!!! Reminded me of the CADETS in the 90's.....I enjoyed this show from all the others...a little old and a little new......the crowd seemed to enjoy it!!!
This was a wonderful performance by my Aggie Band!! I am so proud of what they accomplished here as they have proven that without a shadow of doubt - The NCA&T Blue and Gold Marching Machine is simply - The Best!!
I'm a jsu fan and this band definately deserves credit for changing history and this band has declared victory and war amongst other bands because they will have to work to reachhigher performance then this... well done Aggies.
Thanks demarco. As an old school A&T Aggie I have watched my A&T band step up and step out on courage and innovation. I am a bandhead and knpw that JAckson State has been a beast in the HBCU band world for decades. We need all these bands to do well. AGGIE PRIDE
Wonderful, innovative, dynamic, superior, delightful, spectacular, bad ass, fantastic, bold, courageous, beautiful, exciting, and crowd pleasing VICTORIOUS performance. Congrats to Band Director Ruff and staff along with Golden Delight Director Tiffany Brown and staff for stepping outside the box and stepping up with a GREAT Show full of , precision, musicianship, and pizzazz!! Hats off to all the Aggie student entertainers. Go forth and conquer the world. AGGIE PRIDE!! Old School Marching Aggie 1970
Brought tears to my eyes because i know the and feel the passion you have to have to put on a show like this!! Those damn dancers gave me so much life im over here about to pass out!!! I love my hbcu UAPB M4Life, but they made me proud of my craft!! excellent job!! -uapb gg 09-10

I'm officially a FAN! I went to CAU, but I think that NCA&T has revolutionized HBCU marching performances as most people know it. I think HBCU bands have started to become too mundane.....March, Play, Dance Feature, Play, Slow Concert Song, Dance, Finish......I love how the dancers were a part of the WHOLE performance and not just a feature. Costume changes, Flag color changes, a true PRODUCTION!!! It actually brought chills to my skin and that's a good thing. I think people have, like the announcer said, marginalized HBCU Bands, and its good to see a little diversity now. Not to say no one else have ever changed it up, but this needs to be the standard now at the Battle of the Bands. Show off your creativity and versatility and show these Ivy League schools that we can do more than just dance. Great Job!
I am a graduate of this prestigious university and a former member of The Blue and Gold Marching Machine under the direction of Dr. Johnnie Hodge. He embodied perfection, discipline and LOYALTY and those same traits are the very thread that is continually woven into each band member throughout the years and many more years to come. KAOS!!
wow awesome sound I'm really shocked at how clean they sound plus they do a lil corp style too. yea they will most def will be the best band for a long time
Thomas. You and the staff have done an amazing job with the band!! I just wish I could be a part of this version of the BGMM. even tho I was part of the Hodge years which was great, y'all sound AMAZING and def deserved the win you got. If you're mad about the win and or have negative things to say, you might as well get ya life. The people have spoken and you don't want a day of the BGMM. Period. Bye Felicia.
Game Set Match!! The last five minutes of the show in my opinion makes them the best.. their announcer was spot on when he said what he said about HBCU bands dancing!! Yes!! Many if not all HBCU bands know how to” Break it down.” But if you can do that Corps style marching. It may be by choice for many of them.. I love all my HBCU bands I think there a special and unique in their own right! However, North Carolina A&T set the bar with this show!!!
AGGIEPRIDE ALL DAY!!!!! Yasssssssss The girls made like 4 outfit changes. Cold steel showed out with the aerobics ... Omg I wish I was there to see it live.
I gotta say I was NOT expecting this! I slept on Ncat forreal! Never again, tho. They put on an amazing performance and it was even more powerful in person. They definitely deserve that W.
That was sooo DCI mixed with HBCU. NCA&T went in for that. This is something I would expect from FAMU or NSU. All I can say is wow, great job, I'm sold. The arrangements killed, the execution was on point. I just wish the drill was better. However the ending... The Cadets at their best. Wow, NCA&T I can't believe you did pulled this off.
Im a SCSU MARCHING 101 ALUMNI I GIT CHILLS OFF THE OOENING PIECE GOOD JOB A&T nay have had my differences with them but yall sound damn good good job!!!
I am a die hard Sonic Boom of the South fan. However, I have never seen a show as unique and entertaining as this one. A job WELL done. Thanks for posting.
If you want to see and hear a much better version of the entire show, check out "The Night Show" by Thomas Jones, Jr.'s version on TH-cam. It will blow you away.
LOVE IT! #everything One of the BEST performances of any HBCU BAND. Im a DCI and HBCU fan and this was definitely giving high energy DCI all the way. Great job by the students and staff.
A&T IS A GOOD BAND. THEY REPRESENTED THE MEAC WELL. HOWEVER I AM A NORFOLK STATE UNIVERSITY MARCHING SPARTAN LEGION ALUMNI AND BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THAT 2014-2015 WILL BE THE YEAR OF THE RETURN OF SPARTAN LEGION. GOOD JOB AGGIES. BEHOLD BEHOLD THE MIGHTY GREEN AND GOLD!
I think its funny that the exact opposite happen due to the departure of Paul Adams. But I honestly do hope that the Legion gets back to its former glory. Us Aggies respected you all as our competition in the MEAC and definitely knew to bring our 'A' game when we came to Brawl. That's definitely missing these days.
If you want to see and hear a better version of this show, check out the TH-cam video by Thomas L. Jones, Jr. You can actually hear the announcer and the shots from the stands are much better.
I will say that ending was such a good look for A&T and as I saw someone say there a band you should see in person if you can because there sound is for sure incredible... Yup!
My take on how i seen the show. I truly believe the this year showcase at honda was the best in a long time. All 8 band did very well and this is what i rank NCAT BAND. Dance routine A+ Music selection A+ Dance Line A+ Enterainment A+ 1 out of 8 1th place I have never seen a marching band perform as well as NCAT BAND. Hands down the winner of this year. GREAT JOB!
They have to be the hardest working auxiliary line in any HBCU band in the nation. Maybe in all bands in the world.
Seems like Honda declaring a winner for the event actually made a lot of bands step up their game.
Director didn't tell the band about that addition to the Honda BotB
That wouldn't matter to the B&GMM... Nothing but their best ever hits the field!
Where they actually declared by the "Honda" judges as the winner or is that your opinion?
WPBchnicca the audience voted by cell phone texting
Ok, thanks.....well I just viewed the videos and I agree!!! A&T was BY FAR the most musically entertaining and creative band of the evening!!! CUDOS! GREAT JOB!!!

Back in 2020 this will forever be the best field show
Anyone Else notice that the crowd loved the band more for playing more, rather than doing a dance routine? David Briguglio seems last season ideas were lost as a season whole not just Honda. but I love ncat stepping out the box isn't easy
Wish I could hear their snares.
Now THAT..........was a field show. Unbelievable........especially the ending. Fantastic job NCA&T!

Still watching this in 2024! This show was freakin awesome!!!!!!!

NCA&T hasn't disappointed me yet!!! The Golden Delight never disappoints me!!!
NCAT is the total package!
Mellos ruled the closer....they took command with the trumpets......IMPRESSIVE!!! Reminded me of the CADETS in the 90's.....I enjoyed this show from all the others...a little old and a little new......the crowd seemed to enjoy it!!!

That band put on a show!!!!! this coming from SWAC person..... Gotta give them their props!
When it comes to bands, I'm riding with JSU forever, but this performance right here was the bizness. Good job A&T.
I'm a jsu fan and this band definately deserves credit for changing history and this band has declared victory and war amongst other bands because they will have to work to reachhigher performance then this... well done Aggies.

Among HBCU bands, I believe NC A&T has the BEST overall entertaining halftime shows.
Salsadivva And it is not even close after that performance!
I'm an alumni of Bethune and former Drum Major! I can say A&T put on a good show much love! I give respect when respect is due!
how can u dislike this.. these instruments are singing !
They performances ALWAYS be Outstanding.
This Show was great in Person. Even away from the Press Box. I love that I can come on here and watch again. Go NCA&T!
This the winner and I agree. They have uniformity in there marching and precisions, a GREAT big band rass sound, great harmony, super looking uniforms, and outstanding showmanship as if they just finished at halftime performances for a NFL football game. GO A& t
Those formations at the end were absolutely phenomenal!
I'm officially a FAN! I went to CAU, but I think that NCA&T has revolutionized HBCU marching performances as most people know it.
MELLOPHONES RULED!!! Great TRILLS!!! The CADETS would love you!!!!
Im a SCSU MARCHING 101 ALUMNI I GIT CHILLS OFF THE OOENING PIECE GOOD JOB A&T nay have had my differences with them but yall sound damn good good job!!!
Phenomenal performance.
Congratulations! You and Florida State tied in my NCAA Marching Band Competition!
For the ballad, what is the name of the song that was used ?
Spend the night
Holy Cow! That ending gave me chills live and in person. A&T should have a great recruitment drive off this video.
These folks sound like a VOICE!
Outstanding show! Very entertaining. Congrats A&T! Hard work paid off.
WOW! HBCU is heading in the right direction. A & T has taken it to another level (Period)...
This was amazing!!!! They definitely deserved the trophy!! Aggie Pride!
All those Sousas make me cry tears of joy -1 Sousa player out of 4 in her marching band
This performance made everybody so salty. They decided that there should never be another winner lol
Im a Hardcore JSU Fan....But yes they blow the the bands away with that Performance....Epic
OMG im in high scool but this was the best one to me there the end was great .... this kinda make me want to go there\
3:55 Yes, I said AGGIE PRIDE like I was there.
You know its good when chills!!
LOVE IT! #everything
One of the BEST performances of any HBCU BAND. Im a DCI and HBCU fan and this was definitely giving high energy DCI all the way. Great job by the students and staff.
This should make you want to raise the bar even more instead of hating lol. They only blew the other schools away.
Indeed the Aggies did Mr Myles. Thank you for the support.
I love how they kept the sound in one direction
Of course they won ...... best band ‼️‼️‼️ BBGMM
Bcu.....nc a&t showed out on us....smh great show.yall are my favorite band outside of my wildcats....yall won, HANDS DOWN
I was there and they did a really good job.
They deserved to win they had a great show, I cant wait to see yall for the MEAC/SWAC challenge
LOVE THE DCI EFFECT!!! about time an hbcu does this. dci better watch out, lol. we alrighty have better rythm than them lol
Maybe if you can't hear properly.
pvamu, ncat, nsu, scsu= black dci
No offence, but this is no where near dci level
youwilldied no offence, but they could never play or march like a HBCU lol
agree lol
Went crazy at 4:27 when they played The Isley Brothers - Spend The Night best song played
Very Impressive!
Chills!
"get ready gone to make this a tonight to remember" ol' skool joint
If you want to see and hear a better version of this show, check out the TH-cam video by Thomas L. Jones, Jr. You can actually hear the announcer and the shots from the stands are much better.
i welled with tears, and congrats for these guys
I will say that ending was such a good look for A&T and as I saw someone say there a band you should see in person if you can because there sound is for sure incredible... Yup!
My take on how i seen the show. I truly believe the this year showcase at honda was the best in a long time. All 8 band did very well and this is what i rank NCAT BAND.
Dance routine A+
Music selection A+
Dance Line A+
Enterainment A+
1 out of 8 1th place
I have never seen a marching band perform as well as NCAT BAND. Hands down the winner of this year. GREAT JOB!
Kinda ironic to me; winning a HBCU BOTB with a DCI routine. It was very innovative and creative. Good job.
Tuskegee did that upside down drum thing last year but good show🎶🎷🎺📯🎼
Back in 2012. I think TU was the 1st HBCU to do that.
Ryan Nelson yea I play quints for A&T and I played upside down back in 2011 if im not mistaking.. 2011 or 2012. So i cant say Tuskegee did it first.
