"Rowling imagined that children would be following it with their fingers..." What a nice intelligent bit of thinking, both Rowling's thought and Fry's report of it! Somewhat sweet, very practical and realistic. Well? Intelligent.
Ive always noticed how his consonants have a quality where they seem to have more peaks than they have! It's part of what makes his voice so distinctive. And what made this phrase a killer for him :p
As someone who for some reason says "ignomininy" instead of "ignominy" I can sympathise with the frustration, even if the revenge story is a bit exaggerated 😂
Hi. Where can I find the complete interview? I watched part of it at home on CNN, and found the interview (not HP) very interesting. Can someone help me find it...?? :)
I'd highly recommend you listen to Heroes. It's a book written and orated by Stephen Fry, telling tales of Greek Mythology and humanising the characters. From Perseus, to Heracles, Orpheus to Jason and many more. It's a gorgeous telling of old tales, with Stephen Fry's wit to boot.
I don't care! Listening to Stephen read all those books one after the other made my hours at work fly by! If you are reading Stephen, go and grab some more Tom Sharpe books. Just the one isn't enough! And team up with Hugh and do some more Jeeves and Wooster please
*While Stephen Fry's reading of the Harry Potter series is astoundingly superb, and infinitely better than Jim Dale's version, he does have one flaw..., which can also be heard in his other excellent work, such as his collaborations with Hugh Laurie..., and it's that while he's utterly brilliant with spoken verse..., when he attempts to sing in a musical sense, he completely falls flat... His attempts to sing always sound droll and monotonous... It baffles my my mind that someone that is so incredibly gifted in bringing so many different characters to life, each with their own distinct accents and inflections, that his attempts to sing are so lackluster in comparison... That being said though, Fry's reading of the Harry Potter series is by far my absolute favorite audiobook recordings, and I have listened to them countless times... But when he sings the Celestina Warbeck classic, A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love..., I wince every time...*
He’s admitted I believe that he is an awful singer…so it isn’t surprising that his attempts to sing fall flat compared to Jim Dale (who in fact did several musicals).
Cannot stand this man’s voice and it’s the sole reason why I cannot listen to the audio books. I’ve heard the way he mispronounces some of the words and it’s really bad lol
wtf? what does he mispronounce??? are you american by any chance? he won't be mispronouncing them, he'll be speaking properly. you are likely pronouncing it incorrectly
Oh yes, it’s just terrible that she was thinking of the children reading along. Horrible woman putting a child’s feelings above the adult being paid to read the book🙄
why? it has nothing to do with the books. at all. pretty sure you listen to music written by misogynists and racists but you're perfectly okay with that and wouldn't question it.

That's how I learnt reading. Everyone should have their children do it. So much less traumatic than learning the school way.
Listening to.the audio books during lockdown and everytime "Harry Pocketed It" comes up I think of this.
This guy is the guy to play Dumbledore next. Correct height, correct nose, correct mind.

@@EscargoTouChaud I know. He's the essential pick imo.
@@Fnelrbnef Absolutely. He is so cool that... he pocketed it.

I love that Rowling put it in all the Potter books that came after😂
Absolutely love how he uses his Umbridge voice to describe JK Rowling

Harry pocketed it Dumbledore said calmly😂😂😂
Such a good voice
fascinating ... the mysteries of our minds ...
Harry, did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire? Dumbledore asked calmly

Just say "Harry Parker did it"
The solution to me is say it’s word individually and have them edit it together?
Link to his audiobooks on youtube? Listened to the ages ago, but can't seem to find them.
Zachary McKinstry they’re on potteraudio.com!

How do I get Mr Fry’s audio books here in the states. Like Stephen’s voice better than Dale’s. January 16, 2023
Harry pocketed it at the acropolis where the Parthenon is.
He should just say “harry pocketed”
I’ve been trying to say it as I watched. It’s difficult

@@officialmkamzeemwatela And she was 'thinking of the children' when she doggedly put the same sentence in all the next books, right.

I get it... It's like how Tarantino is too. He writes his dialogue, and he wants THAT dialogue.
I like Jim Dale’s narration better.
We are all sooooo interested in your sharing!

I've been trying to remember his name. Known to me only as "The other narrator". Not even worth remembering the name of.
All about Stephen Fry, damn guy

It doesn't come up in the books, but it is the term I have the biggest problem with when thinking about the books.
