- I've shared some envelopes on Instagram over the last little bit and thought I'd share a quick video on "faux" calligraphy, or basically taking your own handwriting and adding accents and embellishing it a bit.

Holy Smokes, Kristina ... Every time you share one of your BEAUTIMOUS envelopes my jaw drops. The joy of receiving such an awesome letter in the mail ... WOWZERS! xxx Kerstin
Heidi is sooo, sooo lucky. So many fabulous cards. lol!
Letter writing hasn't been as popular as it was decades ago...this is awesome video - would make me want to write letters (or type) them more often! Adds a beautiful touch to an envelope! Need to get those white pens.
Lovely envelope! That Sakura pen was the first white gel pen I ever found that wrote well for me--and it was cheaper than the ones I'd gotten that just didn't work! I since got a Uniball one as a prize, but haven't worked with it much. Thanks for pointing out that it takes longer to dry, though--I didn't know that. I might have to give this faux calligraphy a try. I learned "real" calligraphy when I was in 4th grade, and loved it--did it for years, but just quit for some reason. But this looks even more approachable, especially since you don't need a special calligraphy pen or nib. Thanks so much for sharing these tips. Hope your day is wonderful!
Love how you mix up the font styles in one address, it really adds pizzaz! Great video, thanks!
I wanted to tell you that a good source for postage stamps are yard sales, or estate sales. My brother in law found a large stamp collection in a giant binder and got it for a dollar! He gave it to me for my cards. So fun to go through it and use the stamps.
I was so happy to find your video. It's so nice to see that someone else realizes not only the importance of good handwriting, but it can be pretty as well. It is a shame that there are some school systems in our country that don't want to teach cursive writing to the children anymore!
Donna Wikle There are schools which don't teach subjects well never mind handwriting.
This technique is sooo cool, thank you for sharing! I also love the idea of using vintage stamps for mailing those special cards - I have lots of "leftovers" sitting in my desk.
Thanks for the envelope tutorial Kristina!! I always have trouble writing more to one side on my envelopes!! Embossing envelopes and then using a label die cut helps me to center it more too!! Thanks so much for the tips!!!
I love those Sakura Pens also! Thanks so much for being so encouraging and showing tips on how to make our own handwriting more special!
Wow! So beautiful!
Love this! I never thought I could do fancy lettering but with practice, practice, & more practice I am getting better. Thanks for the pointers!
Cool...you make it look so easy...I'll practice..inspiring!
Ok so I loved this. It's so crazy because I've been doing this with my handwriting since I was a kid, and I never did anything with it but doodle! You have inspired me to take it to the next level and utilize my handwriting! Love you!
So crazy, Nancy Krueger and I were literally talking TODAY about how much we love our GellyRoll's compared to the UniBall! So weird! Crafty people must read each other's minds.
Beautiful envelope, Kristina! It's amazing what just a pen can create!
Awesome! Awesome! Two thumbs UP!!
FANTASTIC video! TFS. XO Melissa
AWESOME video! I ❤️these hand lettering tutorials! Thanks for sharing!!
I love, love, love this tutorial! I haven't got the hang of brush pens yet, so I'll definitely try this out! Thanks so much, love this tutorial!
Your cards and envelopes are always so beautiful!! My handwriting isn't anywhere near as beautiful as yours!
Love, love, love this! I need to try it even though I have lousy hand-writing; I know it takes lots of practice!
Great tips Kristen , im using them to help me do some fancy writing too. Thank you!
Yes, SUPER inspiring! Love love love
Your work is great.
Usually the thick strokes happens when it's going downwards. And the thin strokes happens when it's going upwards.
So cool! I love the idea of vintage stamps, I never would have thought of that, thanks for sharing! :)
Super helpful tutorial! Thanks so much! You make it look so easy!
Lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely... did I say it is LOVELY enough times.... I think I could not possibly say it enough! Lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely.....
Love this style of embellishing your letters. I know how good those erasers are as well, I'm on the search for them in Australia. Great video, TFS
Fauxligraphy! Sweet! Oh, and I love coordinating my stamps with my envelopes as well. The postal workers are used to me now coming in and asking for "pretty" stamps. LOL!
so creative!
Thanks for sharing. I enjoy watching all your videos.
Nice to know someone else centers words like I do
Lovely! I need to give this a try. That Sakura white gel pen is my absolute fave and I'm never switching over to another! (:
Love this! So glad you shared your take on this! I see these on Instagram too and am practicing! My writing gets a bit shaky when I am copying a font.....
Hi, Kristina! absolutely love your videos. I would love to see more handwriting/calligraphy videos along with your card tutorials :-)
I just love this!,,, your writing is amazing
Thanks for the great tips!
love it!
I love your handwriting....as silly as it may sound, I could watch u write all day long! Lol
How cute! Who knew it was that easy. TFS ~ Pat :)
Very cool !! TFS
Love this idea. thanks for sharing. :)
Hi...where did you you get your ruler with the edge thing?
Cool!
That is really a cool idea! Thank you
Loved it! Thank you!
I wish I was your friend so you could send me these cards! Haha
IKR Hehe.
Awesome! thank you so much for sharing this! xoxo Jen
Beautiful!! Thank you for sharing :)
you def have Patience how awesome
Ok, I started reading through the comments to see if anyone else had asked but there were too many! Can you tell me where you got the ruler with straight edge that you use? I have been trying to find one! Thanks for the great video!
They have them at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and most Office supply stores. It's called a t-square ruler and you'll usually find them with all the architect supplies.
Great video! It gave me lots of ideas and inspired me to try this out. :)
Would the gel pen work on watercolor painting? Thanks!
Thank you so much for putting out a video like this. I can't tell you how meany times my mom had to redo the addresses on the envelopes I tried to wright out. She is always saying that I wright to small and the post man will have a hard time reading the address. So if I use the trick you showed us my envelopes will not only be pretty but they can also be seen clearly. Plus my mom wont half to redo them anymore. Once again thank you so very much. I'll be sure to use this the next time I send a card. And, I can't wait to see wait you make next. Keep up the great work. :D
dlwatib Okay, thanks. Also did I spell something wrong? I'm not mad if I did, I do it all the time. but, did I? Please tell me if I did in my comment above.
:)
MissGrimKnight I believe they are referring to "wright" which should be "write." No big deal. :)
Laura Menaquale Thank you for pointing it out. I get that one wrong all the time. thank you for nicely saying it. It helps me learn when people tell me what I spelled wrong. And it's true it's no big deal. Than you again. :)
Great video and I love your nail color! What's the name of your polish?
This one is super helpful! Thank you :)
I wish I could make something like that and actually send it, but I'm preatty sure post workers in my country gonna steal my letter :(
Hi Kristina. Could you please share what pencil you're using in this video? Thank you very much. :)
I love your lettering. I need to find some and start practicing!! Where did you get the black envelopes? I have looked at Office Depot. Maybe Hobby Lobby or Michaels?
Very cool sweet girl. Hove how easy you made this look.
I love this video :D
does anyone know why do you have to use three stamps?
Kristina, with all mail being automated and "addresses" standardized, do you have to pay more by doing this type of address? I know it would have to be handsorted. I know you might already be paying more because of size and weight, just wondered about the addressing. Thanks Dee
Heidi is really lucky because all of these envelopes are for her lol
where did you get your t square?
What is your nail polish color?
what font did you base this of off?
Where did you get that very handy ruler?
what ballpen have you used for this envelope !?
I love the look, I don't think I would do this to often, but it is a great idea. Hugs
Where is the ruler from? Having the perpendicular side would be super helpful!
its a t-square or t-ruler. Commonly used by draftmen
I have been looking for the same kind of t-squared ruler in clear for weeks now. I saw Kristina using one today hoping to find where she bought hers. The closest to what she shows, that I have found, was at Amazon. It's super helpful as are Kristina's videos. Hugs!
My name is Avelina and I just started on the card making, dot art, and hand lettering. I love you style of card making but I have so many questions. My mission is to make cards for hospitals, cancer survivors (being one myself and mom) and children. Is there any email that I can use to communicate with you?
question. I saw that one stamp was a forever stamp, so what is the purpose for the other stamps? Is it just for show?
+bhumanecate Sometimes I send cards that are a just a bit thicker than usual. So I include extra postage to make sure it reaches it's destination. And it doesn't hurt that the stamps are colorful. :)
bhumankate, I've noticed that when I use vintage stamps, my cards take WAY longer to get where they're going. I never thought of it until now but maybe also using a current or forever stamp will help sped things up. I've always assumed the old stamps take longer because they can't go through the scanner (?) but new stamps can. Or something like that!
Whoops!!just saw the answer!!lol!!
What is the name of the tool you're using for lining your envelopes?
It's a T-square ruler!
Thanks! I found one!
There's a spelling error on calligraphy on the first slide
Hey, what's the name of this pen?
+Sara Sara sakura gel roll white pen
Thanks :)
Can you actually send these?
Yes. They arrive just fine. :)
Spelled "calligraphy" wrong in the title.
On the beginning it says "Faux" Callgraphy :) typo but that ok
Lol
WHEN I SAW THIS I WENT CRAZY CUZ MY NAME IS HEIDI!!!!!=D
Loved this! Thank you :)
