No matter how long you've traveled the dark road of addiction, no matter how many people you've hurt, no matter how much you've lost, it is never too late to seek the forgiveness of your Maker and the FREEDOM of living the new life He intended for you. I cry every time I hear this song, because I KNOW the redemption and victory that comes from faith in Jesus Christ. I wish I had come to this realization way earlier in my life, but I am so grateful my Father never gave up on me. And now my life is spent bringing this same hope to those who struggle as I did. Truly all we have is ONE DAY AT A TIME to do the next right thing.
This is a true story song. Joe was a chronic alcoholic. He saw a lot of his friends die from excessive drinking, which led to Liver failure. . So he got himself clean. Although it left him with a few noticeable facial quirks. BUT IT DID NOT AFFECT HIS VOICE ANY OR HIS ABILITY TO PLAY GUITAR. HE WAS THE BEST SINGER WHEN HE WAS WITH THE EAGLES. BUT GAINED A LOT MORE POPULARITY WHEN HE WENT SOLO.
