I think the idea for Robomando, at least in singleplayer, is to speedrun looting a stage before too many enemies spawn. To be more specific, I don't mean full looting, more so going faster since money doesn't matter. This, in theory, creates a snowball effect where between getting items and drones for free + going faster than any other survivor, you outscale enemies so quickly. Though, I say all of this as someone that doesn't play Monsoon.
It's actually a pretty good strat. You basically rush the teleporter and if you clear the boss fast enough you can double back for 90 seconds to open everything in the level (granted you don't get a empty/large map) his playstyles seems to be rush through levels vs farming them. You want more stages passed through instead of more items because you will naturally get more items if you keep progressing.
if you get a captain's brooch it's free loot and the unlock speed scales off attack speed so you can instantly unlock stuff with enough syringes/predatory instinct stacks/mocha/whatever else
i played and beaten monsoon with robo first is using the hax skill on everything and anything you come across and hopefully you get lots and lots of drone friends and eventually hopefully a drone combiner the items ive found that were useful af for robo after just hording drones are things that give you attack speed and skill cooldown and infusion and that other item that boosts your hp by like 8% per stack then atleast one cape ( cause it looks cool) then things like feathers the feet item the gravity pack and red items being after burners and the mitosis item thing for equipment cd maybe even some ukeleles in there xD
the game makes his abilities seem a bit bad in the character select screen, but what the game DOESN'T tell you is that he's super fast and hard to hit, and his cooldowns are quite fast
Robomando to me feels like a homage to the original Risk of Rain. They are small like the old characters, they can’t move and shoot like the old characters, and their dodge is kinda feeble like original Commando. It feels like them making a character that feels like a non Returns character, but then giving them stuff that makes them on par with the new updated characters like their secondary being able to stun enemies, and buying mechanical items like chests and drones for free!
@@maskettaman1488his 4th ability uses nonshrine items for free and has a 4 second cooldown, it literally saves time to use the ability when you would rather farm or ignore chests.
Imo he's the strongest char, fast move speed + hack basically just captain from ror 2 on Crack, doesn't matter how weak you are when u can just rush through levels and get items/equipment to carry ur dmg.
Don't know if you realised during the run but, you are shorter than greater wisps and archaic wisps can reach, basically making you immune to them so long as you stay on the ground.
actually played robomando on monsoon and to actually start getting a good run bros ability to open expencive chests and drone friends for free is really really nice if your lucky with drone spawns first just picking up any and every drone you see while looping if you get the drone upgrader really helps since robomandos dodge is silly xD
i think it would have been super sick to watch robomando continue the run after he killed you. im imaging dope music and credits in the background as i watch
getting to the dancing golems is really easy if you have a single hopoo feather and drop down from the Cabin (also you ARE able to use Classified Access Codes against Providence)
Not to be a killjoy but I don't think C418 is underappreciated. He is a pretty damn popular musician due to his work on minecraft. Or maybe I miscontrued the comment and it actually meant that the songs themselves were underapreciated compared to his other stuff. Sorry if that is so.

You can use the equipment, and you don't have to die on the Drizzle run. I used the battery to proc Bottled Chaos and I killed Providence to end the first run. Just to clear up some confusion for anyone doing this themselves
new update changed this and now best way to climb ropes fast is with hopoo feathers and vertical movement items jumping off rope, using hopoo, grab rope again, repeat

As far as joke/secret characters go, Heretic is definitely more interesting and stronger than ROBOMANDO, but I’d be lying if I said ROBO wasn’t fun. Plus, I’m multiplayer, he makes it so NO ONE has you buy chests as long as you have some team coordination.

I lost the first try to picking up a scarf from an elite mob and the second try I died in lava because commando dash could not get into the secret room on stage four
I beat the game with him relatively easy. All you need is to add a lot of drones and, wyerdly enough, meele itens like the frost relic, really good. Evem beter if you find a drone assembly!
Didn't even occur to me that you could unlock aerial support by climbing vines, I thought you just had to get a really long parachute drop and a big group of enemies Using the battery does nothing as far as I can tell but it does have a 45s cooldown
I unlocked robomando without telling my buddies, and joined a run with them and stole all of the items immediately. He’s so dumb we were all loosing our shit, it was awesome 😂

Temporary copies of Dios are game breaking btw. My friend triggered a temporary copy of dios and then it never went away, any time he died for the rest of the run it revived him again

If you've been on the net long enough you should know if you want to be spoil free (particularly of something that is new) to completely avoid any and all social media. No TH-cam, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, no nothing. Otherwise you always gamble and, imo, forfeit any complaining.
In Risk of Rain 1, any unlocks you made on Drizzle didn't count. You needed to do it on at least Rainstorm to unlock anything. I kind of liked that honestly. Made going for unlocks feel more like a journey instead of a checklist item
As someone who's spent admittedly a bit too long on Drizzle in 2, I'll argue against unlocks being locked to rainstorm.. Though that's mostly because of things like how Commando needs to go through 20 stages of looping without lunars and kill an Overloading Wrym to get 2 of his alternate abilities. or Huntress who needs every bit of help she can gets to clear stage 3 hitless to get the version of her Ult that actually works right.

Using robomando's skill for drones is his best thing imo, simply because you can always repair them for free, never have to worry about cost.

35:36 After I did some testing today, I found it only works on enemy logs. Not the stage logs. No idea why.
Do boss logs recycle into boss items? it seems they have a yellow outline so i reckon its possible
