How? Snap on owns this company. You buy this and your still giving snap on your money.

    • @jerichojoe307
      @jerichojoe307 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

@@willydilly9020 yes you're still giving snap on your money but you're only giving them 25% of what you would have had you paid for the original name brand. Same difference if you buy Ryobi instead of Milwaukee. Of course Milwaukee has more bells and whistles but Ryobi has stepped their game up with their quality and features you know how; because the same mother company that produces Milwaukee also produces Ryobi they're made in the same factory. Most generic or off-brand products are owned by a parent company of a name brand. This is so they can still make more revenue by selling a product to people at a lower cost yet they advertise under a different name and have different aesthetics so that you don't realize it's essentially the same product. This keeps their name separated so that the people that can afford their actual name brand will continue to buy at that inflated price; and those that can't afford the name brand are still giving them their money for the cheaper tool that they don't even realize is owned by the same company, and so essentially no matter what you buy you're always giving a name brand company your money anyway. So it's good to do the research on what companies are owned by who so that you can get a product that you know is quality because you know that it's made in the same factory as the name brand you actually want. I never heard of this brand before and I'm so thankful that he actually brought this to light because now I know I can get snap on tools under a different name at 25% of the price. Basically having that information is like getting a 75% coupon. Don't hate appreciate.

For those of you who think BAHCO is a small and odd and not trust worthy brand.
What you call a Crescent wrench got its shape and form by Swedish inventor J P Johansson (not to mistake for C E Johansson, the guy with the gauge blocks). Got mass produced by BAHCO 1910-ish. The plumber wrench as we know it originated from Johansson/BAHCO. So BAHCO was there from the start.

For all Americans; Bahco is a premium brand in Europe (part of the tools previously marketed as Sandvik.
Sandvik came to own the Bahco brand at some point - came to own a bunch of other famous tool brands (like E.A. Berg) as well, which - from that point onward - were all branded as Bahco).
To correct a bunch of information on the internet; Snap-on did not "buy Sandvik". They bought "Sandvik Saws & Tools" - just their tools division. Sandvik is still very much alive as a company)
    Fun facts:
In the Netherlands, an adjustable wrench is often called a 'Bahco'.
They were the first ones to introduce a quality version of those here (I have some from the 1970s/80s that are still in perfect shape)
They were made from 'Swedish steel', a certain steel & process that was originally developed for making fish hooks. Later they decided to make tools out of it as well, considering the steel's strength and corrosion resistance.
But that's where the Bahco (and previously Sandvik) logo with the fish & hook comes from.
The Fish+hook logo was originally only used for tools that were made with that special fish hook steel. As a sign of quality (I still have 2 Sandvik hand saws with that logo. 1 bastard file too. All amazing).
Currently, it seems like everything is branded with that logo, regardless of the material.
Still one of the better consumer tool brands, though)

And yes, Gedore is an amazing brand - and their ratchets are very nice to work with (I've used a 1/2", and I think.. I might have a 3/8" torque measuring device. (It's from Gedore or one of their sub-brands))

Work for a company selling Bahco tools among other things, another money saver is buying any of their larger bit sets instead of the small 59/S28-4. They are usually a third of the price, and have 3 times the bits including all of the ones from 59/S28-4.
Also, a lot of pliers, screwdrivers and calipers from Bahco, Snap-on, Facom and Draper seem to come from the same manufacturers in China, as far as we can tell they are the same quality, just with a different grip. If you can, compare them before you buy.
Most prices are marked up way above what they should be. Don't necessarily need the top brand.

It's a cool find but with how modern ratchet mechanisms are so good now across most brands that I just wish there was one that emulate the shapes of the snap on.

The bahco looks about 5x better at least to me(a non-mechanic). Real rubber grip instead of the bare metal snap on always seems to like. Plus it's thicker in the direction that actually takes load instead of round.
I guess anyone who can afford snap on uses it hard enough that the rubber won't last?

All good and all until you notice that comfort handle gets in the way in the limited swing spaces. Not to mention is if anyone payed attention to the beginning they would see the neck being over twice as wide and that will definitely harm you in tight places a ratchet like this would be used. Hey look! Comfort handle! Ignore everything and look at my rubber!

In Sweden, Bacho was a premium brand before there was nothing better and older parts still cost money, their components are basically indestructible. For a while Bacho was worse when someone wanted to make money on the names when snap-on bought it was good again we will see if it will be as good as the older stuff.

Remember.... If your tool breaks.. your using it wrong... No need for a warranty when you know what your doing and how to use the right tool for the job!
All these fakers in here saying they are not broke so they buy from the Truck because warranty is not believable! and if your do... your just another fool!
I work in a performance boat shop that builds, designs and repairs 30 - 60ft cigarette boats.... These include Boats like Gold Rush, MTI Racing boats, The Geico Racing boat and so on!
Anytime there is an event in Ontario, we see all the biggest boats running 1075 dual/ Triple engine setups and so on!! The man who died (Mike) in the Lake of the Ozarks world record run was my Boss's VERY good friend!
The Men here have INSANLY HIGH Mercury Engineering degrees and have passed INSANE Mercury Tests and exams in order to have the plaques and badges on the wall to signify and justify working on these Multi Million Dollar boats..
Long story short... The boys here make legit INSANE cash... Talking 100+k a year to repair big boy engines and they only work 6 months of the year (winter in ontario)
These boys have tool boxes that span 30+ ft dedicated to each of them in shops that are over 70 ft long...
None of them would be caught dead buying from the scam-on truck.. He pulls in once a month, does a round about and drives off...
These phonies who work in a mom and pop car shop who claim they make good money and still buy snap on.... AKA Make monthly payments on a hand tool.... lol Enjoy being broke and not being able to afford nice things for your kids because you dont know how and when to use a tool properly!
Again... Remember.... If your tool breaks.. your using it wrong... No need for a warranty when you know what your doing and know how to use the right tool for the job!

@@Merkaba954 yeah I picked mine up for about $100 something and have got it replaced twice already for just the smallest things like a gouge and one of the teeth broke on the inside.
