They are really a strong set of twins. They have done well all day long. So glad #21 had no problems delivering the lambs. She appears to be a good mom so far too.
Congratulations on the beautiful baby lambs. Animals are almost always good mothers. My cat was a good mother to her 5 kittens. 😺😺😸😸😼 That was a long time ago. More than thirty years ago. The kittens were born in my living room. The mother cat ate the placenta. I remember the whole thing vividly. As if it was thirty hours ago; not more than thirty years ago.
Great video. Relieved that #21 did ao well. The harness you used worked perfectly. All looks to be very positve with the first two Ewes birthings and the lambs. Great srart! 😊
There can be a number of reasons. About 1% of ewes will prolapse. Some causes can be excessive body condition (fat), which I don't think is the case here. Multiple lambs in utero (which she had); high fiber diets, especially containing root crops (she has hay and grain); limited exercise in housed ewes, which may apply here; lameness causing prolonged laying down, doesn't apply here; short docked tails, again, doesn't apply here. So, not sure of the cause but, suspect the large twins were a factor.
No, I thought she might just based on the size of her abdomen. We did not have them ultrasounded. If you ultrasound at 45 to 60 days pregnant, generally they can tell how many they will have.
The brand name is "Ring". These are "stick up" cameras. There are battery operated and plug in types. We have the plug in. It requires internet service, and you download the app and use your phone. It works via bluetooth and I can monitor it anywhere I have internet service, even away from the farm. It works really well for us.
They are adorable. The twins. 💗💙 They warm up each other. In addition to the heat they get from mum and the heat lamp. 💡

Thanks, we are very pleased with how the harness worked. She is a first timer and a good mom so far and her twins are doing well.
Curious as to what might be the cause of a prolapse. Would positioning of the lambs or size be a reason for it?

So that can be good news and perhaps she can be bred again next year. Her boys look to be nice lambs
We’re you aware that she was having 2? Can you ever tell?
