I actually had waterfalls of tears coming out of my eyes while wheezing at this. The amazing thing about Bill Bailey is that he can make something so stupid so funny.
I was begging for mercy, with tears welling in my eyes, eventhough I was the only one who could "click away". And ended up needing a good cough, after wheezing uncontrollably, when Bill Bailey had finally finished. 🤣
Honestly the tears were streaming me watching this when it was on TV the other week and it still gets me. Me and the husband have been saying "enmenched" "what" on repeat since 😂😂
I’m not interested in meeting any of my idols, and if anyone asks me why, I’ll send them this. While the celeb will never remember that moment, I will lie awake every night for the rest of my life wondering why I am how I am 😅
I met William Shatner at a Star Trek convention in Santa Rosa in the 90's... I had the biggest crush on him when I was a kid. I thought I was over it until I got to shake his hand... and this was after seeing what a full of himself ham he was on stage. I felt disillusioned when it was my turn to talk to him... but I still was almost mute and try as he might, he couldn't get much more than furtive glances and very shy words from me that I hope made sense... I kinda blanked out during the whole thing... Despite being calm and normal when I met Nichelle Nichols and James Doohan at a past Star Trek convention. So, yeah... You're right... meeting your idols is a bad idea. Lol.
Oh my gosh, I laughed so hard.... I saw Paul McCartney in concert on my birthday in 2005... I had a seat really close to the stage. My friend that came with me laughed at me because just before the concert started, I got such a bad case of Beatlemania.... I managed to calm down some just as Sir Paul took the stage. At one point in the concert, Paul asked whose birthday it was today.... he asked us to stand up... I think it was about 7 of us, including myself. Each of us got a present from him... A silver cuff bracelet with his signature etched in to the inside of the bracelet... And he sang the Beatles birthday song to us.... I went back to being a crazy fangirl for awhile.... I think my friend laughed the whole way home... Lol. It was pretty great that Sir Paul gave a concert for my birthday.... but he mad me pay for it anyway... Lol 😉 Bill Bailey is absolutely one of the funniest comedians today. 😺
"…like a zombie horse with emphysema trying to get his head in a tight jumper!…" I laughed so hard I couldn't see anything through the tears! Such an incredibly funny story told from a master storyteller!
I was literally in tears. It must surely be the case that Sir Paul faces this breakdown of composure on a regular basis! I know I experienced pretty much the same level of motor-control loss when I met him and Ringo when they unexpectedly walked into the hospital room (together with Linda and Barbara) where my friend and I were sitting on his daughter's hospital bed sharing a fat doobie, and engaged us in friendly and inquisitive banter!
Missed this bit when I watched it on telly last night cos my digibox had some kinda spasm. Next day this comes up on my recomendations. All hail the algorythm!
I've never laughed so hard in all my life. I identify with this as I've met a lot of my music Heroes. Has to be the funniest thing I've ever seen. Pain in my whole body from laughing so hard
This is painfully relatable. A few years ago I met Paul Meany and Darren King of my favourite band, Mute Math, at a concert in Bristol. No eye poking but I was so totally starstruck and awkward that I still wake up at 3:00am sometimes and ruminate over it. The worst part is that they were so kind and sweet that I felt like a total weirdo by comparison. On the plus side I was the one who asked Paul if Darren was still around to sign my LP, and he stuck around to sign some other people's stuff too. I console myself with this.
Genuinely one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched this the last 3 nights running and it makes me laugh so much…. so much so that just booked tickets to see him live next weekend. Can’t wait!
Bill baily is the only older guy that iv ever seen, actually use the term meme properly, he really is so fucking clued in that he knew what memes were when I was in a nappy. I will never be ashed to say that I'm proud to have this mans stand up and teachings as a major role model growing up as a child. He may be a funny haha man but he's so incredibly intelligent and talented. He's truly inspiring even if he doesn't mean to be.
I once met Margaret Thatcher (not my favourite person) and she said "Good morning!" to me. I just stood there and fizzled, completely unable to formulate a a reply. "You are enmenched in corruption, you putrid harridan" just didn't spring to mind.
I understand completely, I met Jennifer Saunders once. She came into my shop with her beautiful daughter. I paid absolutely no attention to her daughter - not a word - and gushed like a complete buffoon! I consider myself sensible but all my faculties left me. I was blabbering at her about all of the wonderful things you could do in town, my nervousness had me blathering like an idiot! You think that you would act in one way but when presented with the opportunity, you turn into a blithering idiot! Crazy!
Reminds me of the man who encountered his boss sitting in the company lounge looking rather tired. So he wanted to say something nice to him . He went to him, leaned a little towards him...and blacked out. Totally. The only thing he got out after a considerable period of time was "me go now".
I had a similar kind of experience when I met Nick Mason (the drummer of Pink Floyd) at the musical instrument shop he co-owns in London. He asked me, "Are you a drummer?" and I replied, "Er, er... yes." He asked, "What kind of drum kit have you got?" and I said, "Er, er, er... I can't remember!"
Oh my goodness... I laughed until I.... It reminded me of how stupid I went when a friend introduced me to Suzanne Vega only I wasn't as eloquent as Bill.
Bill is the ultimate bard. Brilliant story teller, brilliant musician - I absolutely love his work.
Imagine if Paul McCartney watches this and realises that's what he actually meant to say and not just a bunch of gibberish.
I'd say Paul himself would be in fits of Hysterics watching this
I hope Sir Paul has seen it.
Just imagine, Sir Paul McCartney has to deal with situations like this all the time for the rest of his life.
@@internetroyalty :) It's one of the many costs of fame!
I like to think that's why Bill did the entire routine, just so Paul McCartney might one day see it and realise he's not actually a gibbering buffoon
This is the hardest I've laughed in a while
SAME. I don’t remember the last time I felt so happy 😆
I definitely needed that!
I was in agony after this whole bit. But it was the best feeling ever.
Same - I was GONE half way through

Me too mate. I was crying with laughter at the thought of Tony Bennett slipping down the ramp…

Same here. I'm going through an asthma session (bad timing) and I had to try to not die while watching.
Me too
“Nexus of Nonsense “ would be a GREAT album title for him!😅
“Like a zombie horse with emphysema trying to get his head in a tight jumper.” Only Bill Bailey could have come up with that line.

Gotta love Bill... one of Britains best comedians
I haven't laughed this much in a long time. My jaw hurts😔
Oh yes, and everywhere from my back to my stomach. Best upper body work-out I've had in ages. Genius stuff.
Aww the tears, the tears of laughter 🤣🤣

Bill you are so good at all you do .Thanks
This is why I carefully avoid talking. To anyone. Ever.
When he says "My mate Kev" he means the comedian Kevin Eldon. If you have ever seen Kevin eldon in anything it makes this story funnier
"Filthy"
Exactly👌🏻. I can totally get why they are friends✌🏻.
Yeah he was the creepy, exceedingly clean, weirdo lurking about Black Books wearing a suit and a white glove snooping around for dirt and filth!

Absolutely the best and most relatable story EVER. Tears were pouring down my face...
This is relatable when you get stuck and it’s a train wreck and you can’t remember how to bail.
And instead you just bailey
Oh oh! We need a Paul McCartney Reaction video to Bill Bailey's Paul McCartney stand-up !
Loving the Black Books reference 😁
Absolutely, just three immensely funny actors. Dylan's dead pan and often off the wall delivery is brilliant
Brilliant as always ! I bust a gut 😂Genius man Bill Bailey
Bill Bailey has become enmenched in the nation's consciousness... 😁
With most jokes or comedy bits, you heard it once and it was funny the first time but this still kills me every time I watch it.
The UK has the greatest comedians in the world, by a mile. And Bill Bailey might well be the best among them.
