I was struggling to paint scales, yesterday and it took me like 2 hours. After watching this it didn't take 5minutes and the results are way better. Thank you so much, Abbitt-sensei.
Grant is like the Bob Ross of Blender Tutorials. Just love listening to him talk. I feel all warm and fuzzy like everything is fine…even when I’m panicked ♥️
For those of you doing this tutorial and stopping in the middle and saving to take a break: Make sure to separately save the Image you painted on the UV unwrapped shape! It will not be saved if you save just the blender file. He says that at the end but I lost my progress because I took a break :( Hope I could help. PS: Thanks for your awesome tutorials Mr. Abbitt, really appreciate your work.
You explain everything in a calm yet detailed way that makes it so easy and fun to gather all the information. Your channel is much appreciated! Thank you.
What a gentleman! Such nice flow and overwhelming nice tutorial warmly narrated. This a Typical example when the video is so good and you subscribe without even having seen the content of the channel because you just know it is going to be topnotch!
Thank you so much! I was looking for hours on youtube on how to do this properly. You were the only one who could explain it to me in plain freaking English!!!!
Very nice. I finally get over the texture stencil thing trick with this tuto after some others. Your smooth voice tone helps a lot among the Blender's confuse painting texture workflow. Thanks !
Started your course on Monday and they're really excellent. Thank you for all of your amazing tutorials. I used to be scared of Blender but I'm way more confident now. So thank you again.
This is soooooooooo gooooooooooood and perrrrrfect! Man! You've made me become one of the 3D Artists very soon. A man like you is always a pleasure in this world of challenges. Respect from the bottom of my heart!
Realize I'm late to the "commenting party". Novice here. Just wanted to take the time to thank you for the way you explain your actions. Ive watched a few TH-camr's tutorials, and your style is easy to follow with better retention. Good stuff, man.
Personally I would argue that when choosing a base colour for a new map, it might be good to go for one with _maximum_ contrast like magenta or lime green, to make it easy to be sure you've painted everywhere. (That is assuming you _want_ to paint everywhere of course, if you want a flat colour with some painted imperfections, this doesn't apply)
Alright, this is my speed: no art skills needed. I can use a mouse! ;) This was as simple and straight-forward as possible. I tried using Blender years ago and gave up to go with SketchUp instead. I still think Blender is at times more confusing than it has to be, but the user interface has improved by leaps and bounds, it is now actually fun to use instead of endlessly frustrating. I learned a whole bunch of little things on the side, but you didn't clutter the main task with unnecessary rambling. Really, really good tutorial. I am inordinately proud of my rock-n-post. Thank you! As to Blender still being more confusing than it has to be -- I lost all my texturing work despite having saved the scene frequently because I didn't finish the tutorial in one sitting and shut down my machine before getting to the point where you tell us to save textures. WHY? If it's in the bloody scene, it ought to be saved by default. If I want to get rid of unwanted textures, I know how to do it. *grump*. Not your fault, but frustrating. And now onward to more complex UV unwrapping. With any luck you'll have a tutorial for that as well -- ah, I see the YT algorithm for recommendations in the side bar is on the job. Though maybe the grass first.
Sir - thank you for explanation! - it is another - very useful technique, which i have learned in 2022.Before - i have never used that method of texturing objects
Good grief, I was driving myself MAD trying to figure out the"stencil" feature. Now I realize its potential! Anyway, thank you for your pleasant tutorials.. you're a gifted speaker and I'm glad I found your channel.
I have a very obscure floating island land mass shape that has been driving me crazy, could not for the life of me figure out how to map grass along it without seams, as it's pretty much impossible to unwrap this shape correctly. Can't wait to try this out tonight. Thank you!
That's... Really cool!! -- I definitely want to see how you did the grass! (especially if you can show us how to bring it into Unity with proper LODs.) Thanks Grant!
thanks for this great video! i was doing a long more complicated method and this just showed me a quicker easier and better way to texture, so thank you :)

Well articulated, easy to follow, great stuff as usual.
Stencil painting looks like an adaptation of project from view, but with fading on the edges of the brush.
Indeed
