I7 honestly _doesn't_ get enough love. I love the anime because it's *painfully* realistic and not many shows can portray that well. I can relate to a lot of the cast as well; I laugh with them, and cry with them. My heart aches for them with every new episode😭
I noticed it a little bit ago too that the Anime has a great way of symbolising emotions animatic and their characters seem realistic and human, not like others animes in that the idol characters resolve everything with just singing and without much story behind it
I remember the first time I stumbled upon i7 (the app) and thinking that it would be the usual, sorta "trying to become the best idols in the world through the power of friendship and hardwork!!" series. But I was surprised to see that the characters behave incredibly human-like with personal goals, behavior and reactions to their situation that even for the most terrible character (looking at a certain purple fox-man) there's a sense of understanding *why* they act in such way. It also shows the more business-like side of the entertainment industry (it *is* an industry after all), how the the idol companies work (multiple events in the main story prove this). It shows the people behind the idols entertaining everyone by the stage, how a live show works or how the companies promote and keep the idols' images and how media can help or destroy it. It doesn't shy away from the dark side of it, but what sets i7 apart from other idol series (in my opinion) is that they also present the joy of being idols because sometimes the genre falls into either side and never really manage to combine the two sides. And that, people, is my essay I love this series so much please give these boys your support ❤
Id7 is legit an anime that shows off reality in a way you can actually believe, each character had their struggles and so on just like how many do in our real world. This anime hits so hard with the amount of mixed emotions you get from watching it episode to episode and the dark sides are no less then a masterpiece! Thank you for creating such an amazing video that sums up how unique and special this anime is!
Great video! Even though I’m definitely in the minority as a male fan of Idolish7, there’s honestly just so much to love about how well the characters and the story as a whole are written. I seriously wish more guys would be willing to give this show a try as it’s a lot more than just another male idol anime.
I think Idolish7 is a story that can be enjoyed by any gender because it's about what it means to be human! Thank you for sharing your perspective! ^^ I hope more and more people can come to love idolish7 too!
I love videos that takes scenes from the show and puts them out of context, it’s so hilarious 😂 U should show those to ppl who think it’s just an idol anime
Other male fan of Idolish7 here :) I'm a fan of a lot of shoujo, there are so many great stories but they get shortchanged because guys won't watch them or because production studios think guys won't watch them.
I am emotionally attached to this anime, like even when she was talking about it I don't know why but , I have tears in my eyes 😅. This is my NUMBER 1 ANIME OF ALL TIME!!! LOVE IDOLiSH 7 ❤
I nearly cried at the end of the video, you captured everything I love about this series SO well. IDOLiSH7 is such a comfort anime for me and also my fav anime, it has so many positive messages and good lessons and just everything feels so human with the characters, IDOLiSH7 is really a unique anime within its genre! Sometimes it even makes me a little upset the fact that its so underrated and not more known in general lmao, probably bc of the prejudice over the idol anime like you said My friends are always a little hesitant whenever I recommend them to watch I7 bc "funny idol anime", and tbh I suck at explaining and expressing why I love it so much without going into spoilers lol, I'll recommend this video to them now since you explained it so perfectly...! Tysm for making this video, its so well done too, your editing is amazing! Also I subscribed, absolutely loved this 💕💕
I was so afraid of the series coming to an end or me getting over this series because it's something that has a huge impact to my life. But I guess that's how life works. I'll treasure every feelings and memories they gave me :')
I agree wholeheartedly. I was into IDOLiSH7 because of the anime. I wasn't really interested in sparkly, happy boys idol, but IDOLiSH7 is totally different. The human drama feels so real and alive, and they aren't afraid to show the real, dirty side of the entertainment industry, not just idol industry. There are also lots of life lessons you can learn from this franchise. And this series' character development is awesome. I hated ZOOL when they first appear in-game, but after reading part 4 and 5, I now love them so much, and they are just simply dorks, especially Haruka. I also disliked Tamaki for his immaturity, but after part 2, he grew to be one of my favorite characters in the series. He is mature in his own way and I love it. Going to the staff and behind the scenes, I remember when I watched the 7th anniversary, Abeshi (Sougo's VA) said that Bessho often told the voice actors not to worry about how many minutes or seconds they have to recite their lines during anime recordings. In most anime, VAs have to say their lines in the span of limited time allowed (maybe 10 sec or 1 min), but it wasn't the case with i7 and thus, they have more freedom. I guess that's just show how dedicated and how much love the staff had in the franchise. My hype for the franchise is currently toned down since I'm into other things, but I still love this series.
Beautifully articulated. I’ve waited years for someone to take the time and dedication to make a video essay about IDOLiSH7, and you delivered tenfold. I hope this video will bring more attention to this marvel of a series! Amazing work! 🌈❤️
This was an amazing breakdown of Idolish7 as a series, thank you so much for pouring so much dedication into making this video! I hope to see more Idolish7 or other content from you whenever you get the chance to make it, there is a severe lack of Idolish7 content like this on TH-cam 😭
Thank you so much for your words!! The reception has been so lovely and warm, I really would love to (and plan to) make more content in the future whenever I get a solid idea and have the extra time ^^
I'm a really lucky person because I'm glad I gave a chance to enjoy this series several years ago. And I love it SO MUCH since then. Sadly I have no one nearby who like & appreciate Idolish7. So if I met another Idolish7 series's fan someday, we're going to be an instant best friend. The Sakura Message tune always made me tear up (in a good and a bad way *wink wink)
This anime is so realistic that's why i love it.. This made me realize that idol are human like us too. Sometimes i relate to them. And they make me understand the perspective of other... and no matter what just don't give up and believe in yourself.
@@maskyVODs It is!!!! It's very refreshing!!! I'm hooked!!! Your video convinced me to take a chance 😃😃😃😃😃!!!! I'm glad that I did!!!! Thank you so much!!!! I'm a fan of the songs now!!!!
I first watched IDOLiSH7 on feb 24 this year, and not gonna lie, just the first ep of this anime hooked me up, I love their interactions it's so wholesome and cute. Lots of funny scenes and emotional scenes. I also love the songs not just the IDOLiSH7 songs but the others too. I'm really glad I have watched this anime, and it's the first time I become a fan of an idol group and it's a fictional group
thank you SO MUCH for this video, genuinely. i have adored idolish7 for almost 6 years now and have never found something that has put the feelings i have towards it into words, in such a succinct and heartfelt way no less. i am going to use it any time i want to explain to someone what idolish7 is and why i recommend it, because your reasoning resonates with mine. i hope my love for this series carries on well into the future, it's truly an amazing series that holds a special place in my heart 💓💗💖💓💝💘💘💓💗💓💕💝💘💝💗💖💞
i literally started crying because this is the video i was waiting for the whole time! its so happy to see that other people out there are also able to experience this absolutely beautiful anime as I do! you said everything I also have in mind and i couldn’t agree more! the sad hurtful moments that make you want to cry and on the other part the beautiful cheerful and happy moments that makes you giggle are why this anime feels so near to you🥰 even if one day this anime/game ends and we all continue with our life… it still was the biggest impact ive ever had in a series. Im so happy and proud to say that Idolish7 is/was a part of my life🌈
Gotta love the effort they put into animating their choreographies! That's what gets me! I haven't actually watched it fully, just some clips here and there, but it is pretty impressive!
Found this video while trying to decide if I wanted to watch Idolish7 after hearing about it in passing. This is an extremely well thought out and informative review without spoiling anything. Great first video Masky❤️ I hope to see more from you in the future and I'm excited to start watching Idolish7!
the video: they can be platonic *plays cut* me: that doesn't seem very platonic the video: it is not platonic Thank you for this video. I was not sure about watching it but this convinced me.
What an amazing video!! I think you captured everything perfectly. As someone who had grown too used to idol/mobile game anime being generally mid I had basically no expectations going into Idolish7 other than to maybe have a quick laugh, but I never would've imagined I could fall so deeply in love with a series, and how absolutely well done the anime is. The i7 universe is absolutely amazing and so much effort, love and passion put into it and its cast that I wish more people were willing to give it a try. Unfortunately I feel like it will always suffer and be written off due to the label of "funny idol anime" but I hope this video can entice more people to give this series a try!!
TLDR: Thank you for making this, it's going directly into my favorites playlist! I'll rewatch it when I need smth to make me feel warm and happy. Rest of my comment that I didn't think would get this long: Yours are the kind of words that I've been hoping to hear about this anime for a very long time. I honestly cannot give you any higher praise that what other comments have already done, but one of the things I admire and enjoy most about I7 is its sheer sincerity, and I gleam a lot of that same feeling from this video. Since this pretty much opens a space to share our love for this series, I'll do just that. I've rewatched this show a number of times recently and I just adore the fact that you can't help but notice more and more tiny details the further you catch up with later seasons. So much is so subtly foreshadowed with its cinematography! I'm blown away every time I notice a half second cutaway of a character twitching their brow or fidgeting at a piece of seemingly unrelated dialogue bc this time *I know why that is*. It transcends the shock value of the reveals right into dramatic irony and I LOVE it. I swear not a single frame of screentime is wasted, every second is the exact opposite of filler. IT'S. JUST. SO GOOD. I could go on, but that's the core of my two cents on it. I often joke w my weeb friends that I don't like "good shows" (only shows *I* enjoy, which is not the same) and also usually ignore recommendations for that same reason, I don't like feeling pressured into enjoying something. That's also why I never try to push smth I like onto others, doesn't seem fair. But I keep telling myself that next time someone earnestly asks me for a recommendation, I7 will be my go to for it. That day is yet to come, but "in the meantime" (haha) I hope voices like yours create a spark of appreciation for the work of art I7 is.💖
Thank you for taking the time to write such a long, warm, and heartfelt comment! Your words are very kind, and I'm glad idolish7 is a series that could bring joy into a lot of people's lives such as both yours and mine.
I resonate so much with what you said about all of the subtle foreshadowing moments! I'm rewatching the series right now and I'm having a blast noticing all of the small moments that I initially didn't pay that much mind to before!
Ngl, it's such a flex whenever I see an argument about best idol anime/game lol. It's like, "yeah your idol anime have broken friendship, heartbreak, or relationship problem, but mine have two kidnapping attempts, bomb threats, murder attempts, and international threats that may evolve into conflicts between two countries 🥰🥰" I love, LOVE Idolish7 ❤😂
legit cried at the end, thank you for putting words on our love for i7, it's sometimes so difficult to explain why I love this show and you did it perfectly!
i started and finished i7 a couple days ago and i’m been scouring the internet for literally anyone talking about it. can really tell you have a lot of love and passion for this series and it’s so lovely to see!!
Amazing video! The word "comfort" really sums up how I feel about this anime and the characters. Honestly, I'm so glad that I watched this series. I just found the anime by chance because the title looked interesting, and the plot seemed lighthearted enough. And while it was lighthearted in the beginning, I didn't really expect to get so attached to the characters and the anime so quickly! It always will have a special place in my heart! ❤
This is a beautifully put together video, thank you so much ❤ I don't usually like idol animes particularly much, my first introductions to the idol industry in Japan sort of highlighted how brutal it is on their talent and seeing stories that pushed it as something fun or glamorous to aspire to always felt a little insidious to me. However, I had a lot of friends who like idol franchises and were giving IDOLiSH7 such high praise that when the series started airing, I wanted to see what about it they loved. I'm honestly so glad I did, because it very quickly climbed its way up to being one of my all time favorite series. I7 doesn't pull its punches in the dramatic aspects of its setting, but the fact that it's a story so full of love regardless is what makes it truly amazing. The anime in particular feels like a masterclass in how to elevate the source material - they did not have to give it the amount of care and polish it has, and I'm always blown away when I compare scenes from the game to the show. I hope this video reaches people who haven't seen the anime and encourages them to give it a shot. I feel like it was under-advertized in the west and has the potential to garner a bigger audience if more people know about it, and I think this video really encapsulates what makes the series special 🎉
id7 is so underrated its crazy, at first i really wasnt interested in the anime at all, but when i saw my sister watching the yt series i was intersted in the drama and characters beinig so human. i love id7so much
Finally watching this after far too long of having no excuse other than laziness, and for, oh, no particular reason today. ;) But this is such an _amazing_ video Masky, I can tell how hard you worked on it and I have to say that all of that paid off in spades; your passion for this series is absolutely infectious, and I don't think you could have created anything better to make one interested in watching Idolish7 -- I was already planning to watch it, of course, but I'm definitely sold now. Idol stuff isn't really my thing, not necessarily because I think it's shallow or not complex like you said a lot of people might think (although, I do know there is an over-saturation of mediocre idol anime, yeah... lol), but just the topic itself has never really interested me. Having just tried Oshi no Ko lmao, that's a perfect example of an idol series that exposition-dumps about it without giving me a reason to be invested in any of it, even though I respect that a lot of thought and work and emotions go into the industry itself. On the other hand, not to make more comparisons, but I have no real interest in anime about sports like swimming and running, either -- and yet, Free! and Run With The Wind are two of my favorite anime, because those series are not really about their respective sports themselves, but instead said sports are a backdrop used to foster the character development, relationships, and drama that are what makes those shows so emotionally hard-hitting and relatable. From what you described and showed, Idolish7 has very similar vibes, so I don't doubt I'll love it 💜 Hell knows I'm always here for the found family (with little ship-bait lol), and the characters with relatable stories and themes, whose development is not linear, like so many other series I love have~ and I'm already guessing which boys I'll love the most purely by their appearance, but learning who my surprise faves will be is the funnest part. :P Also the meaning behind "idol-ish" is really cute ngl, I love that lol 🥹 Seeing you grow and improve as a creator for so many years now has been such a delight, and now you're even making video essays; this turned out beautifully, and I greatly look forward to any more you'll make in the future. 😌✨I can't say when exactly I'll be watching Idolish7, but I loved hearing you talk about it and it's made me all the more excited to finally do so; it's such a special feeling to have a heartwarming and human series that resonated with, moved, and/or inspired you in some way, and I'm happy that Idolish7 exists and is that series for you 💖
What a great video! Yes. If Idolish7 is a love letter, this video is a gift. 💝💝 One of the things that impressed me the most and now fascinates me about the series is that, although it has elements of social criticism, it does not try to take the 'idol' genre, turn it around and show you 'the gore side'. It's quite the opposite. Idolish7 IS an idol anime and it handles itself like idol anime, embracing its genre and exploring its components. They are not trying to give you a message from the harmful and capitalists of the industry, but rather one of love, teamwork (building an emotional family) and hope. I have taken away beautiful messages from this anime, beautiful moments that I didn't think I would find when I started it. And the weeks before I started it I already had many of their songs in my head jajsjaj. Thank you very much for this :3 💌💌
An amazing video! It's a really, really good breakdown of just why this series is just -that- good. While I've watched other idol anime before and since, even some really well-made ones, nothing else has hit me the way i7 did; it just feels so incredibly human. Even though so much has changed since I initially got into the series back in 2017, my love for it has only grown. I'm truly so, so glad that I got to meet those characters. Also, the clip choices for that last part of the video made me way more emotional than I could have predicted and so now I must hide for the next hour or so while I try to recover ^^
This is so beautiful. I don't have any more to add than what everyone else has already said, but just thank you for this, and for really voicing all of the stuff we love Idolish7 for so much :')
masky, you perfectly gathered all of our thoughts and love for the series and explained it flawlessly in the matter of 22 minutes lol. Thank you so much for such a wonderful video. You truly captured all the important reasons why we fell in love with this series. The video's so thoughtful, funny, adorable, and just like everyone else involved in this series that we love so much, it's very clear how much love and care you put into this video. Thank you.
Idolish7 is like my favourite anime, the songs slap, the story's really good, all the characters arereally funny and have distinct and fun personalities, it doesn't get the credit it deserves (the game sucks though they need an overhaul badly)
That's so beautiful !! When you said the world "love" I instantly saw the anime in another strong point of view and it seriously shook my heart. To see idolish7 as a love letter. I am also so happy to live with Idolish7. And... I love these fictionnal thing that give me so much more real and strong emotions that whatever i've been trought in life till here. Thank you Idolish7 !!! 💙💚🧡💙💜💛❤
Great vid. Idolish7 made me really appreciate every aspect that goes into idol production and all the behind the scenes work involved. It really is a product of love.
This lowkey made me cry at the end lol. i7 is so unbelievably special to me. It really was my gateway into idol projects/joseimuke games. I watched i7 as the first season aired, I was in eighth grade and 13 /14 years old. I had given idol anime a chance in the past with utapri, but i dropped that after a few eps and never thought I’d find an idol anime i liked. That is until i7. I was so unbelievably in love with this show, i remember being so excited when vibrato was announced, and for season 2. However, around the time Vibrato started airing, I lost interest. But, it was my gateway into liking one of my biggest hyperfixations ever, enstars (unfortunately). And through that I got into more and more joseimuke games and music projects! But around 2 or 1 year ago, I remembered how fond I was of i7. I remembered my love for Gaku, and decided I wanted to catch up and be into it again. Boy am I glad I did. A few months ago, I started from the beginning, rewatching season 1 before watching anything I missed out on in the several years. And boy am I glad to have watched it now that I’m an adult w media literacy! (Lmao) I havent binged an anime like this in a looooong time. And despite being a busy college student, I’m almost halfway through season 3. Frankly, I love this series more than ever before, maybe even more than enstars! I’m now 20 years old turning 21 in December, so around the same age as most of the characters, which I think really helped in making me love it lots, as I relate much more to the characters and their struggles now. And I also appreciate the love for the crews and stuff as you mentioned, as someone who is studying film and wants to be a behind the scenes person. Anyways sorry for the essay I just felt really sentimental watching this. I genuinely hope more people give i7 a try. (also i love gaku help i might be starting a SECOND whole ita bag dedicated to this man after buying so much merch of him in japan lol) ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
I watched Idolish7 for the first time about a month ago and I'm glad you made a video like this. You touched on all the points I was thinking about myself, like the quality of the music direction and even the live shows! I was blown away with just how much care they put into the writing and direction of a show like this. There's even the show's official TH-cam channel where the characters did their own "RabbiTube" content. I think the other thing that makes the show suck people in so easily is the fact that there doesn't feel like there's any "filler." Even the concert sequences have narration or shots of the fans that are relevant.
Thank you, thank you so much. I cried after watching this video. I watch i7 when I was in my lowest and they save me... This video represents my feeling about them, thank you
Lovely video, Thank you! Yeah I cried at the end, but I love Idolish7 and its fans are wonderful too! I can't believe I got into this series because of a Iori clear file I found at my local Kinokuniya store back in 2019, it took me a few months later to figure out what this anime and game was called. (Sadly, I don't find merch of them there since) But, I'm extremely grateful for loving Idolish7 and will continue to support them!
I was just thinking about Idolish7 and how it's literally so important to me as a franchise and then this video appeared! Thank you so much for taking the time and effort for putting all these feelings into words. The part of idolish7 I've always loved is how it helps me to understand myself. Sogo in particular reminds me so much of myself, and whenever I want someone to understand me I show them a clip of him putting my feelings into words, the writing is so real and beautiful. Idolish7 lives have always been my favourite of any group because the voice actors make it come alive and you can tell they are enjoying themselves and putting so much love into it. I'm so happy I gave this series a chance, it's an irreplaceable part of me Also, your voice is really nice to listen to!
sometimes when I feel down I come to this video and realise how I'm able to be a part of this precious project with the loveliest fans and i instantly feel better. TYSM for making this video 🌈💕
I wasnt expecting much when I first started the I7 anime years ago, but its had its hooks in me ever since. You had a great way for putting the reasons why into words. I just wish more people gave it a chance 🥲 happy 9 years, IDOLiSH7!
ive been a fan since around late 2020, early 2021. it immediately gripped me, and i have never been the same. both in the scope of anime, idol series, and mobile games, idolish7 is a step above the rest in its storytelling, characters, representation, heart, themes, and music. this video perfectly articulated all the reasons to get into it that ive been trying to tell lots of my friends so i will drop this video for them and hope for the best!
Wow the video is just...:') you explain EVERYTHING hahah it make me cry 🤧✨ you are right even if we forget this anime someday, we enjoyed it 💖 the story and the characters teach me so much ✨
Wow, this video come to me after I finally brave enough to watch season 3 (got trauma with the balcony scene). I love the way you explain this anime with every section that refer to their songs. IDOLiSH7 means a lot to me, especially Momo. I had suicidal attempts 5 years ago and the one who save me is his Momo's solo song. He makes me feels better and give me more strength. and yeah after all this series is so good and deserve more love
This video is truly lovely. The editing was great; the scenes really fit what you were talking about!! And the transitions were nice, too. That effort was amazing. And I love the message in this video the most. You touched up on something the show has, too, about eternal feelings of love. I agree with you that the best ones are ones you can look back on and not regret. These series has and will continue to be a big part of my life! I've just started Part 5. But even if I eventually lose interest, I can always look back on this and feel immense joy. This is a great video!! Thank you for putting these feelings into words 💗
thank you so much for pinning down every single aspect of idolish7 that made me love it so much!! one of my favourite things about idolish7 is how they handle their character development, and you've put everything i particularly like about it into words. the end bit even made me tear up a bit; it's crazy how proud i am to be able to bear witness to this incredible series. thank you so much again for this lovely video!! 💞💞
I finally got the time to watch this, and it's such a great video. You captured perfectly what makes this series so special. I'm going to share this video to people who I want to give this series a chance. It might help convince them a bit. I decided to watch it when I needed a new show to watch after being recommended it and seeing that scene of Gaku getting rejected twice (its what make me want to watch), and it was one of the best decisions. I binged all 3 seasons and vibrato in a couple of weeks. This series has become so special to me in such a short while. It also helped spark my passion for drawing again. Even if my passion for this series fades over time I know it'll remain in a special place in my heart.
Gosh this is amazing! It's nice to see such a detailed and well put video about idolish7. This series truly deserves a lot of love . Thanks for putting it into words so beautifully, I almost cried at the end
T.T Gracias por tan buen video Y me llevo en el corazon esa ultima idea "Sus personajes podran ser ficticios Pero los sentimientos que causan en mi como espectadora es real"
@@maskyVODs oh, it's you who picks! They're really sublime...love the choice for 6:02 too 😁 Wow you've only got two videos out? Glad to become a fan from the start, looking forward to more.
@@sarahtachibana1333 yes, thank you! I edit and do everything for the videos, just a one-woman show for fun loool 😅hope to do more in the future when life is less hectic though!
The joy of having experienced this series was what got me to watch a show from the fall of 2023 that coincidentally was written by the same writer as the i7 adaptation, Ayumi Sekine, and animated by the same studio Troyca. That show was the original series Overtake, an F4 racing series/character drama directed by the legendary director, Ei Aoki, and featuring some of the same animation talent as i7 as well. And yes, it carries so much of what made i7 work so well as a character piece thanks to Sekine's writing talents, while also featuring some truly exhilarating racing setpieces and visuals thanks to Aoki's direction. It flew under the radar for most audiences that season, but I managed to catch it while it was still airing and it's such an incredible show. One of favorites from 2023. Implore people to check it out.
This is absolutely fabulous!! IDOLiSH7 has literally saved and changed my life, and definitely for all the reasons you talk about! Keep doing what you're doing -- can't wait for your next video!!
Thank you so much for making this video! The editing was wonderful and your points were perfect. Felt like all the feelings and things I've always wanted to say about the series, that I'm just... never able to put into actual words.
This is such a good video, I'm so happy that it's clearly not just by someone who's seen the anime but by someone who's played some of the game, watches the concerts, and knows what happens in the story. Also, this is random, but I really love your clip selection. A lot of videos just have clips randomly playing, and you do that for some places where nothing would be relevant, but for the most part they're really well chosen and fit what you're talking about. I also think the choices of which to show with audio were really good, directly showing people the music as well as talking about it and the short clips that are both relevant to what you're talking about and show the voice acting and the show in action. I watched Idolish7 about a month ago, though I started it a couple months before but didn't watch past episode 3. I'm so glad I did eventually; I ended up falling in love when I got to the Music Festa 'Please, music' scene and since then I've downloaded the game, read translations through to part 6, listened to the music a lot (your video does underplay the music a bit; I would say it's a serious highlight for me, and although it's not in every episode, the idol groups are all on Spotify and there's shows like Beyond the Period! (Which, to be fair, you made this before)) and even written fanfiction. It's seriously amazing, and there's so much stuff to enjoy. You're right that the charm is the realism and the human parts- in fact, if it wasn't so realistic, I don't think the gritty bits would *feel* as shocking. It feels like real life, making action and high stakes feel shocking and comedy become charming.
Thank you for your kind comment!! I’m a big fan of the series as a whole so I’m glad if I could portray that! I wish I could’ve talked more about the game but wanted to keep spoilers to a minimum and focus on the heart of the series as a whole >< I also wish I could’ve highlighted the music more but worried about copyright tbh lol but the music IS amazing and each group really does have their own sound, so I hope people who start the series can discover that too!✨
This video is incredible !! The thought and passion you put into this topic is so heartwarming. As a long time fan of Idolish7, this video voices what I can never figure out how to put into words
Great! Wonderfully described and explained. ❤❤ I recently stumbled across this series by accident and am already a fan. Looking for an opportunity to watch this series. It's profound, but also funny and you can immediately identify with the characters. I'm personally experiencing Momo's story first hand, for example.
*SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3* . . . . . . In episode 3 when they first performed Sakura Message, there were specific words that were highlighted on screen. These looked just like lyrics, but then in episode 28 Nagi learns about the sakura message lyrics and it's the same words that are highlighted which make up a secret message~
From what you described, I feel like Idolish7 sounds to be like a Seinen Series about Male Idols. Gritty, realistic, with an actually interest story. Yeah, I think I'm going to watch it. Thanks for selling me this anime, lady with a voice
It's a shoujo series, I promise it's not just seinen series that are worth one's time, and it being a shoujo specifically doesn't diminish its value or quality~ There are plenty of wonderful and special stories to be had in both shoujo and josei, that are able to reach other demographics just like seinen or shounen. I'm glad I could help introduce you to something new, I hope you enjoy it if you decide to watch it!
If you had some ost during the whole video it would have been great, idk the end feels great while the majority of the vid is veru quite besides your talking idk owo either way this is a great vid
I think I actually found it, because the OP said it was 25 episodes of foreshadowing. **Spoiler warning for those who haven't watched** Episode 14 of season 1, Tamaki mentioned that Riku has a "healing aura" and asks if it can be his weapon. Then we have what happens in season 3... I didn't catch it until my 3rd watch through.
Ther is only one thing i didnt like in the anime and that is the conclusion to the story of riku and tenn since it dodnt have a conclusion at all nothing happened theyre relationship didnt progress one bit and when it looked like tenn is trying to reconnect and rebuild his relationship with riku he would just get more distant becouse of no reason
@@aleksandarbubanja6422 We are still waiting for an announcement for it, but the anime is quite successful in Japan so I think the likelihood is high! The studio behind the anime is currently working on an original series that is airing later this year so we will probably have to wait a bit until they're finished with that. At the very least, I don't see it airing in 2023. But here's to hoping we at least get some confirmation for a season 4 this year! ^^
@@maskyVODs if the 4th seasons happens and they are still in that fighting but caring for each other situation that they have been in since season 2 i really won't have trust in anime anymore
coming from someone who finished the game story (part/season 6), they did resolve the brother problem. tho it took reaaaaalllly long for them to resolve it that i will always go sweet summer child whenever riku got in contact with tenn MINOR SPOILER AHEAD since you expect it to come sooner/s4: they still didnt resolve it until season/part 5 of the main story which revolves mainly around the tenn's circumstances
I7 honestly _doesn't_ get enough love. I love the anime because it's *painfully* realistic and not many shows can portray that well. I can relate to a lot of the cast as well; I laugh with them, and cry with them. My heart aches for them with every new episode😭
watching idolish7 for the first time is such an unique experience tbh
It really is! I simultaneously want to watch it again for the first time and keep my present feelings for this show and the characters!
I noticed it a little bit ago too that the Anime has a great way of symbolising emotions animatic and their characters seem realistic and human, not like others animes in that the idol characters resolve everything with just singing and without much story behind it
Thank you for being a voice for IDOLiSH7🌈
the chokehold this series had on me was insane
Idolish7 is The reality of a Dark IDOL INDUSTRY ❤ Nobody can beat it!
I love videos that takes scenes from the show and puts them out of context, it’s so hilarious 😂
U should show those to ppl who think it’s just an idol anime
Sometimes it even makes me a little upset the fact that its so underrated and not more known in general lmao, probably bc of the prejudice over the idol anime like you said
My friends are always a little hesitant whenever I recommend them to watch I7 bc "funny idol anime", and tbh I suck at explaining and expressing why I love it so much without going into spoilers lol, I'll recommend this video to them now since you explained it so perfectly...!
Never watched it before. Now I'm on season 2!!!! Wow the writing is so good. I just can't put it down!!!!
Welcome! I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying it!! ! It’s such a wonderful ride 🥺
@@maskyVODs It is!!!! It's very refreshing!!! I'm hooked!!! Your video convinced me to take a chance 😃😃😃😃😃!!!! I'm glad that I did!!!! Thank you so much!!!! I'm a fan of the songs now!!!!
@@maskyVODs I just finished binging Idolish7!!!! It was so goood!!!!! I can't wait for the continuation!!!!!!
I'm really glad I have watched this anime, and it's the first time I become a fan of an idol group and it's a fictional group
thank you SO MUCH for this video, genuinely. i have adored idolish7 for almost 6 years now and have never found something that has put the feelings i have towards it into words, in such a succinct and heartfelt way no less. i am going to use it any time i want to explain to someone what idolish7 is and why i recommend it, because your reasoning resonates with mine. i hope my love for this series carries on well into the future, it's truly an amazing series that holds a special place in my heart 💓💗💖💓💝💘💘💓💗💓💕💝💘💝💗💖💞
i literally started crying because this is the video i was waiting for the whole time! its so happy to see that other people out there are also able to experience this absolutely beautiful anime as I do! you said everything I also have in mind and i couldn’t agree more! the sad hurtful moments that make you want to cry and on the other part the beautiful cheerful and happy moments that makes you giggle are why this anime feels so near to you🥰
even if one day this anime/game ends and we all continue with our life… it still was the biggest impact ive ever had in a series. Im so happy and proud to say that Idolish7 is/was a part of my life🌈
thank you for being a voice for the idolish community
Gotta love the effort they put into animating their choreographies! That's what gets me! I haven't actually watched it fully, just some clips here and there, but it is pretty impressive!
I just discovered Idolish7 like yesterday and I'm already hooked. Love NAGI.
7:09 🤣☠
9:40 ok, I'm sold. watching it now ✨
ENJOY!! It's an amazing ride!!
Re-watched this video to recall how much and why I love Idolish7 ;-; thank you so much for creating this video.
i want you to know that i got a tinder ad after you mentioned the lack of platonic explanation for re:vale LMFAOO
LMAOOO WHAT 😂 that’s so funny
sending this to everyone i know rn immediately
Found this video while trying to decide if I wanted to watch Idolish7 after hearing about it in passing. This is an extremely well thought out and informative review without spoiling anything. Great first video Masky❤️ I hope to see more from you in the future and I'm excited to start watching Idolish7!
Thank you, that's so kind of you! I hope you enjoy it!!
The Re:vale comment at 7.01 is so real.
adding sakura message in the end is unfair help
anyway great video!!
FR IDOLiSH7 needs more recognition and praise, hopefully people will discover more about i7 bc this show is a masterpiece ever created!
the video: they can be platonic
*plays cut*
me: that doesn't seem very platonic
the video: it is not platonic
Thank you for this video.
Rest of my comment that I didn't think would get this long:
Yours are the kind of words that I've been hoping to hear about this anime for a very long time.
It's like, "yeah your idol anime have broken friendship, heartbreak, or relationship problem, but mine have two kidnapping attempts, bomb threats, murder attempts, and international threats that may evolve into conflicts between two countries 🥰🥰"
I love, LOVE Idolish7 ❤😂
legit cried at the end, thank you for putting words on our love for i7, it's sometimes so difficult to explain why I love this show and you did it perfectly!
i started and finished i7 a couple days ago and i’m been scouring the internet for literally anyone talking about it. can really tell you have a lot of love and passion for this series and it’s so lovely to see!!
This is a beautifully put together video, thank you so much ❤
I don't usually like idol animes particularly much, my first introductions to the idol industry in Japan sort of highlighted how brutal it is on their talent and seeing stories that pushed it as something fun or glamorous to aspire to always felt a little insidious to me.
OH MY GOD this video captured the franchise so well
id7 is so underrated its crazy, at first i really wasnt interested in the anime at all, but when i saw my sister watching the yt series i was intersted in the drama and characters beinig so human. i love id7so much
THE PLAY WITH WORDS AND SONG NAMES IN THE TITLES PLEASE BUUUH
:P Also the meaning behind "idol-ish" is really cute ngl, I love that lol 🥹
Seeing you grow and improve as a creator for so many years now has been such a delight, and now you're even making video essays; this turned out beautifully, and I greatly look forward to any more you'll make in the future. 😌✨I can't say when exactly I'll be watching Idolish7, but I loved hearing you talk about it and it's made me all the more excited to finally do so; it's such a special feeling to have a heartwarming and human series that resonated with, moved, and/or inspired you in some way, and I'm happy that Idolish7 exists and is that series for you 💖
To this day, my favorite anime. I love all the emotions and the deep character dives. It's such great storytelling.
What a great video! Yes. If Idolish7 is a love letter, this video is a gift. 💝💝
One of the things that impressed me the most and now fascinates me about the series is that, although it has elements of social criticism, it does not try to take the 'idol' genre, turn it around and show you 'the gore side'.
Stoppp, you're making me cry 😢 This is beautifully said
This is so beautiful. I don't have any more to add than what everyone else has already said, but just thank you for this, and for really voicing all of the stuff we love Idolish7 for so much :')
I gave the series a try because of this video. And I do not regret it at all.
omg that makes me so happy to hear!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for telling me! ☺
masky, you perfectly gathered all of our thoughts and love for the series and explained it flawlessly in the matter of 22 minutes lol.
💙💚🧡💙💜💛❤
you have such an intelligent way of wording things; it seriously draws me in! i admire the care you put into characters and media portrayal
I've never cried over a video essay like this before😢😢 thank you for making this vid. You really deliver what I feel but couldnt express💌
I'm so happy I gave this series a chance, it's an irreplaceable part of me
Also, your voice is really nice to listen to!
You nailed everything with this video! Sometimes I listen to i7 music just for fun. They’ve got some bangers like Ache (Zool) and Suiasai (Trigger).
Thank you for the amazing presentation. Me and my sister are crying with tears. Overall amazing work friend
sometimes when I feel down I come to this video and realise how I'm able to be a part of this precious project with the loveliest fans and i instantly feel better. TYSM for making this video 🌈💕
I wasnt expecting much when I first started the I7 anime years ago, but its had its hooks in me ever since. You had a great way for putting the reasons why into words.
I just wish more people gave it a chance 🥲 happy 9 years, IDOLiSH7!
ive been a fan since around late 2020, early 2021. it immediately gripped me, and i have never been the same. both in the scope of anime, idol series, and mobile games, idolish7 is a step above the rest in its storytelling, characters, representation, heart, themes, and music. this video perfectly articulated all the reasons to get into it that ive been trying to tell lots of my friends so i will drop this video for them and hope for the best!
teared up a bit at the end, as ive never been able to put into words that what it is that makes i7 so special to me. you did it perfectly.
God this video made me want to rewatch the series again!
YOU DID GREAT ON THIS!!
Thank you for putting these feelings into words 💗
this video is so well-put together and it perfectly sums up the appeal of i7, thanks for making this its so good lol
thank you so much for pinning down every single aspect of idolish7 that made me love it so much!! one of my favourite things about idolish7 is how they handle their character development, and you've put everything i particularly like about it into words. the end bit even made me tear up a bit; it's crazy how proud i am to be able to bear witness to this incredible series. thank you so much again for this lovely video!!
T.T
Gracias por tan buen video
Y me llevo en el corazon esa ultima idea
"Sus personajes podran ser ficticios
Pero los sentimientos que causan en mi como espectadora es real"
@6:15 is when I went damn this editor is good at choosing clips
Thank you 😂 I spent a LOT of time picking clips and trying to time them to fit with what I was saying throughout the video 🫶
YES!! Overtake was amazing, and I agree that it has a lot of similar heart as idolish7! You can definitely feel the crew's passion in both!
OMG this is amazing ❤
10/10 video 👏👏👏👏
Alrighty time to rewatch i7 again!
Idolish7 had made me cry and laugh ❤❤
Not me tearing up bc of this 🥹 Thank you for putting this into words in a beautiful video I can share with others!! ❤
Idolish7 boost my self esteem ngl... I feel better
Great! Wonderfully described and explained. ❤❤
I recently stumbled across this series by accident and am already a fan. Looking for an opportunity to watch this series. It's profound, but also funny and you can immediately identify with the characters. I'm personally experiencing Momo's story first hand, for example.
i love idolish7 this video made me have an autismic freakout thank you youtube user masky
WAIT WHAT WAS IT THAT WAS FORESHADOWED
i've seen the show but i probably did not catch the foreshadowing at ALL lmao
*SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3*

In episode 3 when they first performed Sakura Message, there were specific words that were highlighted on screen. These looked just like lyrics, but then in episode 28 Nagi learns about the sakura message lyrics and it's the same words that are highlighted which make up a secret message~
@@maskyVODs OHH
i missed that entirely lol
Best best
If you had some ost during the whole video it would have been great, idk the end feels great while the majority of the vid is veru quite besides your talking idk owo either way this is a great vid
A Iza n tankou
i watched the anime 2 times already and i genuinely dont know what 13:13 was talking about lmao, can you tell me pls?
That sakura message scene
@@himinanase6537 that and I think the Nagi reveal bc that's first foreshadowed in season 1
I think I actually found it, because the OP said it was 25 episodes of foreshadowing.
**Spoiler warning for those who haven't watched**
Episode 14 of season 1, Tamaki mentioned that Riku has a "healing aura" and asks if it can be his weapon.
That's fair, it IS an ongoing story however! So their journey (and relationships) continue forwards!
@@maskyVODs will there be new seasons in the future?
@@aleksandarbubanja6422 We are still waiting for an announcement for it, but the anime is quite successful in Japan so I think the likelihood is high! The studio behind the anime is currently working on an original series that is airing later this year so we will probably have to wait a bit until they're finished with that. At the very least, I don't see it airing in 2023. But here's to hoping we at least get some confirmation for a season 4 this year! ^^
@@maskyVODs if the 4th seasons happens and they are still in that fighting but caring for each other situation that they have been in since season 2 i really won't have trust in anime anymore
coming from someone who finished the game story (part/season 6), they did resolve the brother problem. tho it took reaaaaalllly long for them to resolve it that i will always go sweet summer child whenever riku got in contact with tenn
MINOR SPOILER AHEAD since you expect it to come sooner/s4:
they still didnt resolve it until season/part 5 of the main story which revolves mainly around the tenn's circumstances
this is a beautiful video essay, thank you for the love for idolish7!! ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
