I got my first bionicle on Christmas Eve 2004. It was Toa Lihkan but I didn't know at the time. I remember being so excited, telling everyone how much I love it. Years later, I was going through the Lore, and looked up Lihkan, wondering who he was. I was very surprised when I saw the image of that great hero appear on my screen. I still have him and will always remember the best times of my childhood started with my favorite Toa.
My first bionicle was tahu way back in 2001. I remember having those tiny promotional CD-roms and being so intrigued by the lore. I'll never forget that smell of fresh plastic right when you open the canister. Thank you bionicle, you made every Christmas and birthday an exciting one.
my favorite bionicle memory is when i lost motion in my lets for about a week and my mom took me to every store in virginia to find makuta right after it came out. RIP BIONICLE WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!!!!
Holy crap, I loved these things so much! I remember when Mcdonald's was handing out Bionicle toys to get the series out, I still remember when I put my first one together! The ending to the series was a bitter one, however this series had definitely one of the biggest twist endings I have ever gotten. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE, LEGO!!!!
This was my jam. The original generation of bionicle had great writing and thats what made it rock. The stories surrounding each character was incredibly detailed so you got invested, but it had that element of the unknown to keep you guessing and wanting to see more. The original stories had a diverse cast with a vast world that you wanted to explore, and LEGO let you with video games and comics and moves. Even the toys themselves were epic. The original toys were simple in design and interchangeable so you could build the heros as they were (and they'd be awesome) or you could build your own and make it totally your own. Back then they even had contest to make your own, and the winners would become cannon characters. The 2nd and even the 3rd(to a lesser degree) were great, but as it went on the characters got flouncier and more expensive (A gen 1 toa was $8 and current toa cost $20-$30) and they just kinda abandoned the story for Oh look the All american rejects got kidnapped by bionicles! save them! I miss the old bionicles, the sense of wonder and adventure that they inspired in me whenever I built one. I miss those days.
I disagree, the story actually got even more detailed, and matoro's death really showed how much it had grown up. The series just underwent a subtle transition from fantasy/mythology, to hard science fiction, and I really liked that. while I will agree with you on the models themselves because they became less functional and more about looks, I think the story kept getting better and better, it was like the first years cracked the surface of this world, and the later years had it all spilling out at you. One thing that bothers me though was 2009/bara-magna, I don't fault them for trying to restart for a new audience while retaining the past 10 years, but they just didn't try hard enough to recapture that construction and mechanics theme, they forgot it used to be "Technic" and then they gave us frankly a carbon copy of 2001 that lacked the soul, rather than the post-apocalyptic, almost child-friendly mad max world they advertised. Don't hate the later years, hate the attempted reboot that they didn't try hard at.
I agree, i don;t think they;d ever do it justice beginning again from the start, look at Tahu's original design, he was a little deformed, a little ungainly, there was something weird about him and the rest of the toa, but if you compare that with his "Stars" remake, he was too normal looking, if they tried it again I think we'd get the same sort pale reflection. I think they should probably skip ahead by a thousand years to let some stuff fade into myth, perhaps the Toa Nuva's existence becomes doubted entirely.
kieran10202 I actually kind of like that idea. I wanted it to start off right where it ended immediately after the Matoran Universe migrated to Sphreus Magna, but maybe if it did happen a few thousand years later it could be good too.
I'm not sure how I feel about the Agori, would it just be okay to have both agori and matoran together? or would one have to die out? or would they simply evolve to be indistinguishable? I suppose you could say that the mask of life gave the agori and glatorian some measure of Toa power, so agori can become toa and Glatorian have the other powers.
damn and bless you for putting this up I remember growing up with these and being one of the cool kids in school cause I'd come to school with my Bionicles and every Friday this kid would bring them to school and three kids got in front of the class and do a show called "Bionicles World" (and yes they sang a theme like Wayne's World) this happened in the sixth grade now I'm sitting here thinking about this getting emotional like a nerd thinking about the coolest toy I've ever bought in my life!

We don't need petitions anymore, all we need to do is to show our support for Bionicle on the internet and it will likely come back. I would buy more of the sets if they didnt go up so much in value and now I can't afford them any more then I was as a kid.

i can rember when i saw the this advertise i was so hype back then. and on the next day my father just had bought me two of the first one... really great times.
My first BIONICLE ever was Lewa. From there, I loved the colour green. In my opinion, 2001-2003, 2006-2007 were the best years. 2001 got me really interested in the series, and I loved how... technical it was. All the little gears and stuff, and the masks were awesome. 2002 solidified my love truly. 2006 was when the story started getting significantly darker. 2007 had an incredible moment when Matoro died. Plus, they changed up the designs. The other years were good, except for 2010. I appreciate the reboot effort, but they should have returned to what was great about the series- the gears, the beauty of it all, the simple wonder. But then, it's always hard to capture a sense of childlike wonder at this huge world of stuff.

I bought Hakaan the piraka in 2006 , but I didn't know what he was (I was young) but I moved a year after that and my neighbors were really into them and I ended up collecting all of 2007. My favorite memory is sitting outside playing with baraki, finding Hakaan in a storage container, and waking up on Christmas morning to find all of the toa mahri under the tree

I grow up with Bionicle, I lived with Bionicle, my lifestyle was Bionicle but then evry thing broke as the Hero Faktory came. Sometimes the old things are better than the new thing. Me and my two younger brothers collected just about all of the Bionicle toys and used the pieces to create even more characters. My youngest brother passed away in 2006 and I'm 20 now and I still miss playing Bionicle with him. My favorite Bionicle character was Toa Kopaka Nuva, but like I said, me and my two brothers created countless heros and villians of our own that i think were just as good as Lego's storyline characters.
Anyone think the story of Bionicle (especially the first ones) would make for an epic movie? People new to the story would NOT be disappointed to see a story as epic as this. The island.. The heroes.. The legends.. The vast lands across Mata Nui.. Elemental powers.. If only a great director could pick this up with the highest CGI graphics to pull it off, it would instantly take over the globe. The story's as thick as a history book! No one would ever top BIONICLE if a movie was made out of it.

Kopaka has always been my favorite. Ice is a boss power, and he had by far the coolest mask of the entire series. I didn't play with the toys much - it was more about the building than the final product - but I always play-acted as him with my friends. Their exploits will forever be missed by my inner 8-year-old.

A few days ago, at work a Bionicle came in and since we check toys to see if all parts are there I instantly found this video for the first time in a decade just for this song and began to piece that bastard back together using memory alone as the manual was missing and I only had a tatty box image to work from

When I was 6, the first Toa collection (Tahu, Lewa etc.) came out. I collected them until I was about 14/15 years old. I had some much fun buliding new monsters or just sorting out all the lego parts. I am sure that this period of my life let my creativity really really grow. And If ill ever have kids, Ill rather buy them lots of lego than a stupid computer. Long live the Bionicle legend and thanks for uploading this vid. And please excuse my bad english..

Bionicle yes! My first set was Lewa Nuva, my favorite Toa. I also really like the Hordika, I still have all six of those. I stopped collecting when the Phantoka came out, I didn't like the designs and the sets were getting expensive.
OH i love and miss the bionicles, the story was amazing, the characters were awesome, my favorite was Krika, he was cool. It's nice they had a happy ending

My first bionicle was jaller matoran from McDonald's. I was going through foster care and just moved to a new home and on the way we stopped at McDonald's at only 6 I was fascinated in bionicles. I kind of stopped at glatorian just lost interest in the story. I'm thinking about getting those sets I had again on brick link just to have on display and remind me of all the roleplaying I did with them lol

ever since i first started school, i saw the "older" boys playing with them i was fascinated. i'm 16 now my mum made me get rid of most of my bionicles :'( luckily i found a few under my bed! Im old enough to go on bricklink now so i'm making a shopping list.
I remember many things about Bioncle, the Mata Nui Online Game 2, the movies (I believe have possession of all 3 still), my friend's birthday party (they had MULTIPLE sets of the original toa), a gba game I got from my godparents, and so many memories of elementary school. Right now I have the original Tahu and Makuta sets reassembled on my dresser behind me.
I got my first bionicle when I was like 8. I had Onua and my brother got Kopaka because at the time we were into paleontology and knights respectively. Man, back then it was awesome, despite how they didn't have elbows or knees.
my first bionicle was kongu from the mcdonalds tohunga line when the series was just being pitched in late 2000. man this thing took up my life. I thought it would forever. i kind of lost my foothold after 2005 stuff ended. i mean i read the books until the end of 2008 and i got the comics until the very end, but i stopped the whole other stuff like online stories and stuff

Bionicle yes!
My first set was Lewa Nuva, my favorite Toa. I also really like the Hordika, I still have all six of those.
I stopped collecting when the Phantoka came out, I didn't like the designs and the sets were getting expensive.

OH i love and miss the bionicles, the story was amazing, the characters were awesome, my favorite was Krika, he was cool. It's nice they had a happy ending

I remember being picked up from kiddie Soccer and going to K-Mart right afterwards, and begged my Mother for the 1st season of Bionicle...good memories!
man! 2001-2003 bionicles really rocks, i loved them so much and i still have every single one of them, i got either some of the 2004 bionicles and vezon and kardas from 2007 ^^ or 2006 i don't remenber, i am i hufe fan of bionicle

i got Kopaka and Pohatu for christmas in 2000, and though many of their parts are broken or lost now, i still play with them, good old times...

My first bionicle was jaller matoran from McDonald's. I was going through foster care and just moved to a new home and on the way we stopped at McDonald's at only 6 I was fascinated in bionicles. I kind of stopped at glatorian just lost interest in the story. I'm thinking about getting those sets I had again on brick link just to have on display and remind me of all the roleplaying I did with them lol
Oh man, this also makes think back to the old website they had that had a graphic novel going, and they even a got cool book series going...ah good old bionicle had great stories.

ever since i first started school, i saw the "older" boys playing with them i was fascinated. i'm 16 now my mum made me get rid of most of my bionicles :'(
luckily i found a few under my bed! Im old enough to go on bricklink now so i'm making a shopping list.

I remember many things about Bioncle, the Mata Nui Online Game 2, the movies (I believe have possession of all 3 still), my friend's birthday party (they had MULTIPLE sets of the original toa), a gba game I got from my godparents, and so many memories of elementary school. Right now I have the original Tahu and Makuta sets reassembled on my dresser behind me.

It's all tastes and preferences. I, for one, find the more recent stuff to be just as exciting. :)
I got my first bionicle when I was like 8. I had Onua and my brother got Kopaka because at the time we were into paleontology and knights respectively. Man, back then it was awesome, despite how they didn't have elbows or knees.
I still remember my first Bionicle set (sigh) good times.

my first bionicle was kongu from the mcdonalds tohunga line when the series was just being pitched in late 2000. man this thing took up my life. I thought it would forever. i kind of lost my foothold after 2005 stuff ended. i mean i read the books until the end of 2008 and i got the comics until the very end, but i stopped the whole other stuff like online stories and stuff
The original bionicle was the toy of my childhood. I just watched one of the movies tonight and had an intense flashback to the days of when everything was awsome. haha, i also thought at first that the bohrok were good and toa tahu was evil. But i sorted that out quick.

Oh my god i remember these i had a disk that you put in the computer and you can watch the videos of them i had all of the first ones and my friend had all the rahkshi. i had a movie that we always used to watch.
