Haha I was wondering too at the beginning of the album what do we have going on here… then thankfully Technicolor transitioned the entire album to something I love. He should have cut the first 4 songs and started at Technicolor. I ended up loving it though honestly a great album.
Thank you somebody who is being honest here. If he started at technicolor I’d have been LIT! Lmao. Put the top four on like a vault project like an ep, and remove them from the album and this is a classic.

There wasn't a song on this album I didn't love. It's one of those rare no skip albums for me. Also jumped up to being his best album for me. Can't wait to see these songs performed live. 🔥🔥🔥 And btw, I couldn't give you a like because if you couldn't see the brilliance of all the songs on this album you are nothing but a hater and you aren't connecting with me yet. I laughed when you were hoping for all these ‘certain things’ early on, but didn’t deliver…because it’s all there. The R&B slow jams are really good, the Tennessee Kids shit is what it always has been, and the Pop/R&B is good. Solid album. Hopefully you go back and just recognize the fun, club vibe of the beginning.

You had me laughing out loud on Memphis. I feel like a lot of us thought the same thing on the opener. I would've made that joint a closer or deleted it altogether. It provides a narrative to the album, so I get the song's purpose and I don't mind it. But overall, the album is good. I would've sequenced some of the songs differently on the album and delete a song or two to make the sound more cohesive and synergized, but the album is in a safe space because he's back in his Pop/R&B bag. Had me laughing on F*n Up the Disco too - sounding AARP'ish LOL. I would've opened up the album with that joint. Overall, dude got hits. I don't mind the long songs when he flips them so well midway like he does, but some songs don't need a tail end, just stick to the goods. But it's good to hear him back in good elevated Pop/R&B form. I think the direction he was going in before all the Britney ish was harder -- don't know how exactly but at least that was the impression I got from his old Zane Lowe interview. Like he had things to get off his chest. But when everything blew up with the book, I feel like he dialed it back and switched up the direction to stay safe. He did play it safe with the album but musically, I think he's back where he should be and that's a plus. He even took it to some new places with the sound and I dig that. I'm curious what he had in mind though before some of the Britney drama. Maybe next album. He did say after all that he made 100 songs. 8/10 🌟

In terms of the first song to the last song…it’s his best album. Meaning, I would add more total songs from this album to a playlist than past albums, even though those past albums do have way better single songs.
In addition, it’s hard to actually “hate” any song off this album. And that just isn’t the case with pretty much any album from any artist. It’s simply a solid album, with parts pulled from not only past albums, but definitely recognizable influences from so many other great artists.
There are so many fun/funky/disco vibe tracks that have that “cruising and jamming” feel. The ballads are solid, well written and totally have that r&b feel. And the instrumentation is fucking spot on (typical JT album), that you know it will translate even better live.
I’m not sure what people were expecting from this release, but the dude is in his 40s, and every single pop/r&b artist would be super happy to release this type album at this point in their career.
I had in my mind a sound and writing I was looking for, especially with him working with Timbaland and one of my favorite writers, Kenyon Dixon. 4 tracks in I didn't think i was going to get that, but i got a lot of what i wanted as you can tell.

But I’ve also had to recognize that sometimes it can be just me and not going into it with no expectations at all…and REALLY just listening to the music. I know that pre-hype and also a mindset of what may have happened that particular day can influence that. Keep doing you. I did appreciate and respect your thoughts and take on the album

first time listening is always a feel out process lol. most albums have highs and lows which is fine, i've listened to chris brown 20+ tracks and always come back to find some hits. this album is up there with 20/20 for me

Thank you for your very real and genuinely honest review. Even as a longtime JT fan I was thoroughly disappointed with pretty much all of it during my first listen. The whole beginning soured me. After hearing it several times now Im loving it. Definitely grew on me. well..all except Memphis. That track should of been axed altogether.
The crazy thing is technicolor is the longest song in this album not even the Length time as mirrors. I thought the song was interlude but the way this song was made it had the beat changed and everything was just to good.

Technicolor, Infinity Sex, My Favorite Drug, Imagination, What Lovers Do and Alone are amazing JT songs! It’s sad that people get turned off by the first few songs of the album.

I love this album I love 17 out of the 18 songs on this album and those 17 songs are Memphis, Fvckin’ Up the Disco, No Angels, Play, Technicolor, Drown, Infinity Sex, Love & War, Sanctified, My Favorite Drug, Flame, Imagination, What Lovers Do, Selfish, Alone which is a sad song, Paradise with NSYNC which is also a sad song and Conditions I love those 17 songs.
17/18 is a really good takeaway. So the album is basically perfect to you
Technicolor is song of the year rn for me. Album is probably 3rd in his discography for me. Definitely better than man in the woods but below what I feel are 3 classics.

I have ! Memphis is a bit too long for me, could have cut it at the rapping portion (you might disagree and I get that!), I wanna like f up the disco so bad it’s just not there yet for me ! Has some elements I like but better in second listen, no angels out of the four is my favorite on second listen probably

I got to take a second listen I think I was expecting a different sound at the top of the album lol and my friends are big JT fans, i said I was doing the reaching and they told me “you should love yourself more” im like dang it can’t be that bad lol. And it ended up being pretty good 😊
