I got 9 inches of hair cut off and I gave it to the little princess charity where my hair was made into a wig for a little girl with cancer!!! It was crazy!! I now want to go from my current bob to a pixie cut so whish me luck!!

IamRhianna Marsh every time I have cut my hair short, I had instant regret. However, short hair is much cooler in the summer, and easier to take care of. But alot harder if you want different styles. I have shoulder length now growing back. My favorite is a A-line cut bob with textured layers. It is a better length to start with then just going straight to a pixie.

I've had a pixie cut for about a year now and it's the best thing I could've done. My hair feels great and I don't use any heat on it so it saves time. Hair serums work great and mouse if you want a little more volume. A sculpting paste works great as well!!
Glad you overcame your nerves and cut it. You look so much more mature, feminine and happy! And all that weight off your head... I hope you haven't grown it back. I went short about 4 years ago after a relationship crisis and have never regretted it. i still touch my nape regularly and am sure you do to! I have Julia Roberts circa Pretty Woman hair and I've had a pixie for a while now. My biggest suggestion is flat brush to get through the top and a medium round brush to get the front to frame the face. Product is good but remember your hair is short and if you use too much product, the style won't shine through. I was using super hold hairsprays and such but the style wouldn't hold because it was too heavy.

I want a pixie cut so bad but I'm afraid! I have had long, thick, curly hair for such a long time that I'm afraid that if I do get it, I'll look weird.

I don't really have thick hair but I do have a lot and it gets kind of freezy and puffy when it's hot. I've had long curly hair ( I mean really long perfect big curls, looks as if I curl them) all my life and three years ago i cut it evenly at shoulder length to donate it. Three years later, I had the courage to cut it.
I couldn't cut it really short since my mom didn't let me x). But one side is sort of a bob and the other is considerably short.
Gradually start cutting it shorter and shorter depending on how you like it and are willing to stop.
Everyone is afraid of it looking bad but if you really want to cut it and have for a long time,( I've been wanting to for 7 years) then do it!! You're always going to be wondering how it would've looked like if you did.
Just make sure you find the style/styles that you want and ask your friends or family to help you narrow it down and then consult your stylist for advice.
Besides, it'll grow back :).

I cut off almost 3 feet of my curly hair one time into a short haircut (but not as short as this and it was CRAZY!! It was such a difference it took like 2 days to suddenly kick in that the years i had spent growing and caring for my hair were now obsolete! But I really love my hair short because it's so much easier to take care of! Plus WAY LESS product!!

I have short hair now. Mousse works good with my hair and you can also get hair wax. When you blow drying your bangs dry them opposite of the way they will lay. :)
well I dont know if anyone has seen it but have you seen those people with the really curly hair and then they get
both sides of their hair shaved off but the middle is still there short and curly. Well I'm getting one! and I'm super excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a great choice for you it really goes with you get some reformer from paul Michelle for texture and hold and natural finish it works great for any type of hair and for the curls get a paul michelle twirl around it will give you a beautiful wave/curl im a hairstylist :)
Yohanna Rodriguez I agree with your recommendations but am adding on a couple more, as a fellow stylist and I myself have wavy/curly hair.
Whenever I cut mine shorter, I find that I need something that helps give me a bit more control and enhances my natural texture. I like Tigi Curls Rock which is a little heavier than a cream but just as easy to apply by rubbing your hands together then scrunching into your hair. I would let mine air dry but when it’s colder, use a diffuser on your blow dryer until it’s about 80% dry then leave it alone. Touching it while it’s drying can rough up the cuticle and lead to frizz. I find that a satin pillowcase also helps with that and makes second day styling easier.

I have also very thick and wavy hair - cut to short pixie .. sometimes I find them so anoying (because they curl exactly where I don´t want them to .. classic).
But on the other hand there are multiple days when I just love them - they curl beautifully and naturally .. for the bad days flat iron is the ultimate solution (the thick hair can stand it usually just fine) and people always notice it and praise it.
Also now in winter wearing a hat helps to take down the huge volume on top .. which I find sometimes simply too much :-)
To be honest I have short hair for more than 6 years now and still I haven´t found the best product to use .. so good luck and lots of fun :-)

I went pixi my sophomore year in high school and now I'm a jr and I haven't gone back and I have pretty wavy thick hair. I find it best when styling to blow dry then flat iron

my hair curls and waves...I'm a challenge for salonists. I'm growing my hair back after "The Big Chop", I shaved it aaallllllll off, and now I definitely need to have my hair reshaped.
Dry shampoo will be yoir bedt friend. You can freshen and style your hair with it for days at a time so you don't have to keep taming your curls.

My hair used to used to go down to the middle of my back, and i have fine hair not thick, but it was very wavy, and it always got poofy.
I was so scared to cut it but I finally did around last February. I like to have my bangs just above my eyes, i find it easier to deal with. Also, it got to long to a point where I could actually ponytail it back, so I cut it again and it's SOOOOO short now! Even shorter than when I first cut it. (Example: I can gel it up if I want to and it'll look normal, that's how short it is right now)
PS: do you know of any products by now? I'm still sort of new at the short hair thing. ^-^

i used to have long hair like it hit me below my wait to my ass but one day i went to the barber shop well not the salon (pure boy family) a man cut my hair and i cut it to my almost shoulder and i have like curlish hair so when i cut that short ummm i was about 7-8 years old but if i wanted my hair straight i had to brush it after i washed my hair. after a while i missed my hair cause i did a lot of braides and pony tails and my mom missed it too when she was around the house and in the mornings when she loved to do styles to my hair and so i have long hair now again and it goes a bit above my waist still good (going to donate) . Later or tomorrow im getting a pixie cut so i recommend to who want pixie cuts go to a professional hair stylist to match your face shape and stuff like that cause then you will kinda regret it but just let it grow out so you can enjoy it more

I've been thinking about doing this myself. I actually want something just like this but part of me is afraid because I have really curly hair and I have no idea how it would behave or if. Yes if. About six months ago I chopped about 12 inches off for a Bob but I don't care for it at all. Never really did except for the initial moment it happened. I don't really want to just grow it out but I have no idea if I'll have the balls to go through with this... Any tips?

Go back to that same stylist if you can or bring pictures of when you first got it cut every few months to keep the style going because you can trim it at home by yourself but after awhile it looses it's style and shape

My mom acts like everyone should have the hair they want, unless its me. I had to go behind her back to get the cut I wanted which is like the one in the video. It's not even dyed and she still hates me for it.

I have wanted to cut my hair exactly like that for a long time but i have VERY puffy hair and im scared it will puff up too much and i am not willing to spend time stratening it
Ok so when I was in my early 20's I was married to a very abusive man who tried to control every part of my life. We had 3 children, and I left him. No need to give details. But during this time, I was in the bathroom, door locked, wanted to cut my long hair into a Bob. I had already tried to color my beautiful blonde hair burgundy, and it had turned into the little mermaid red color..so I wanted to not look like a disney mermaid. I didn't have scissors, only clippers, and I had always been fairly brave doing my own hair regardless of mistakes because hey..that's how I learned. Anyway I'm looking in a hand held mirror, With my back to the bathroom mirror, holding the clippers and getting ready to cut at my shoulders. BANG BANG BANG..on the door. The clippers slipped making a big bald spot in the middle of the back of my head. Like above my ears. My ex now had said back then.. YOU BETTER NOT BE F @#$%^&* CUTTING YOUR HAIR!!!
Ok..being that I hadn't started yet, but that his knock caused me to jump ..giving me a bald spot..which technically I could of easily hid with my thick fire engine red hair.. after he cussed and yelled that I better not cut it.. Without even a second thought, I grabbed just the front bang area which was about chin length. I then shaved the rest of my head with no guard. I put a towel on my head with my bangs showing and walked out. His response was to yank the towel off, call me a effing ugly C word, and a stupid effing B word. My mother arrived not 5 minutes later. Saw my hair and marched right to the bathroom and without a second thought shaved her entire head. I love my mom... anyway for the first week we put handkerchiefs on our heads.. but something really cool happened.
This was over 20 years ago when drastic hair wasn't seen much. My hair grew in dark..instead of blond, and at one inch long I used something similar to got to be glued to bring my side hair forward, spike the top, and my bangs were side bangs. I had so many compliments and so many people asking me who did my hair..that I ended up actually creating a new trend where I lived at. Now I see everyone with that similar style that I had created by basically standing up to an abusive husband. That's my story.. and it's true.

You look so cute, but that looks like it would be hard to maintain...top heavy would bug me after the second day. Hairdressers never think about “later”....we are not all good with products, and styling. But, you are so cute...even if you went around without styling...you’ll probably look fine...for a while.

I REALLY want to do this!! My mother thinks I'm crazy and forbids me from doing it. I keep telling her i will grow it back and that i just want to experience it (because i have experience long hair enough already). The only issue i think i will have would be that my hair will go into a semi fro because of its curl (i had a fro as a baby XD) any advice on how to convince my mother?
I had the same issue with my mom. I just kept asking until she finally caved in. I made a deal with her: I would cut my hair short and then grow it out like she wants. She doesn't want me to cut it again. The good thing is, I'll be in college in a few years, so I'll have my freedom to cut my hair the way I want it ;)

What is your face shape and curl pattern? I have a round face and 2b/2c hair. Also what is the maintenance? I am about the have a baby and want a pixie so I won't have to take a lot of time and product to make it look nice. And it won't be in the way.
Her face shape looks oval kind of. Her hair type looks like a 2b/2c. And it depends on what kind of pixie cut you get, some have to have a lot of maintenance.
I'm about to cut all of mine off, I have pretty wavy hair. I've never gotten a pixie cut before I'm so nervous

Soooo if I cut my hair (which is curly) will it stop being curly? I noticed she went in with curly hair, but when it was cut it looked straightened. Was it or does hair stop being as curly? (Maybe it's because her roots weren't curly?)
My used to curly like hers now it's wavy. When I cut my hair shorter it gets straighter. I just depends on how your curly hair is.
And when I have a pixie my hair is straight except for the bangs which are wavy. You should probably find your curl pattern.

I do not understand the fascination with pixie cuts. They look cute for about five weeks then require massive attention from a salon for ages while you try to either keep them looking good or grow them out. They're horrendous.

her hair is curly, but because of the length the weight of her hair made it seem more wavy then curly, my hair when it was long did the same thing, and as for it being straight after it was cut, that was easily done by the stylist with a hair dryer
I had super long hair when I was younger and it was wavy, now it's a little bit longer than my shoulders and has a lot more curl. Curls can look different :p
