The person who made said announcement has reached out to me to tell me this as well. They are not trying to defend Alex, but rather do more research for the victim. I'm in my 20s, but when I look back at my 15 yo self, even tho i considered myself a smart and careful boy, I know there's a lot of fcked up shit around me i overlooked because I lacked EXPERIENCE and I didn't recognized it. I mean, I even had a female friend who was herself groomed by a 30yo guy, she outright told us "proudly" when they did it, but none of us, girls or guys, saw anything wrong with it, because we all knew what sex was anyway, and she was "consenting", so we thought it wasn't wrong. Years later, she messaged us, saying she went through therapy and realized she was groomed and r@ped by that man, and none of us even realized it... I still feel so stupid about it.

I'm not expert on human phycology so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I'd say it comes down to ego, and wanting power over a person. When someone starts becoming popular on TH-cam or twitch etc their ego starts to grow. When they constantly have people telling them how great they are and celebrating them, it can make them believe themselves to be better then other people. Like they're special, like they're above human decency. It all comes down to power. People groom minors not because they're actually attracted to them, but because they want power over someone. And with a large ego comes the want for more power. Now obviously not everyone who becomes famous will do such vile things as yandere dev, but money and fame inflate what was already there. So when a person who is egotistical and power hungry begins getting popular they think they can get away with gaining more of this power, even if it's through horrible and disgusting means.

The victim's friend actually KNEW that she was being groomed, so she demanded video/audio evidence of the encounter. Also, Yandere Dev is a TERRIBLE programmer. As a social work student, this would also fall into the catagory of “mandated reporting” if Jane is a minor. Signs of abuse of any form for vulnerable populations are required to be reported to proper authority by multiple professions

I would like to point out something few do. The main voice actress, Michaela Laws, has been aware of this behavior of his for years, and threatened victims with public shame if they spoke out. Thank you for this video! I saw the live stream by CameronF305 who contacted Jane about her side of the story. That stream was frustrating to watch because the streamer keeps playing off Jane's grooming as a mistake and out-of-context jokes, blocking people who keep bringing up their concerns about Jane's safety (plus the occasional creeps trying to rile up Jane), and justified that Yandere dev just has poor boundaries and communication skills so of course he didn't know how to not be inappropriate around minors. Poor Yan dev 😢 Burning hell. He's a goddamn 35yr adult. He should know by now. If he does not, he should not have a platform in any form. I lost all respect for Michaela when she tried defending another TH-camr for committing similar acts as Alex (idk if she walked that one back, but either way it seems she hasn't learned from that situation). Accusing children who interact with adults, no matter the intent, of being "80s band groupies" is downright disgusting. I also find it interesting how she said she would follow suit with the other VAs and remove YS from their resumes and, while the other VAs have gone above and beyond to disassociate themselves from the project since some of them surrounded their branding around the association, her role on YS is at the top of her resume on her website close to a week after everything came out (this can change after the day I have written this, but I double-checked and it's still there as of posting).

YanDev definitely has a very real, very long documented history of grooming teenage girls, it's just been buried by his fans and the flow of time. And this isn't the only case where someone has spoken up about being groomed by him. One of his victims was from even before he started making YanSim and years ago, after she realized the guy who groomed her as a teenager now had a massive platform and a fanbase of teenage girls that he might hurt, she posted a detailed account of it on Tumblr, where she explained how bad it got and presented evidence that it was YanDev. He got her ensnared in a total nightmare where she was his internet girlfriend and was doing unspeakable things for him. To this day, there's still a chance he might have CSAM of her saved somewhere. Her story makes me so so so glad his relationship with Jane was interrupted before it got even more exploitative and gross, because it could have been an absolute nightmare. It's so frustrating to see this pattern repeating itself.
Yandere Simulator is also about grooming teenage girls. He says they're over 18, but we all know that's complete utter bullshit. They were never 18, they're at least 15 to 17, one of the rivals is a fucking pedophile herself! THAT was a red flag.

I almost feel like he groomed his entire fanbase. As someone who was a minor when I started following the development, I realize how he downplayed and normalized the gross stuff in the game. I remember taking his side in some drama, and now I see how he was trying to get people on his side
I didn't even pick up on warning signs until the lovesick controversy and/or his video discussing "goblins trying to wreck his reputation". It makes me sick knowing I even showed interest in the game.
I remember being a fan of his when I was twelve, but even at that tender age I still felt gross and icky by the panty shots, but thought that it was the only bad thing about the game, and so I brushed it aside, and merely avoided the concept of it whenever it was brought up. But when I started doing research and found out about all the terrible, incel-y, and misogynistic shit he's done(in addition, he's also a racist, homo/lesbo/transphobe, ableist, and body-shamer, he's just overall a creep and a terrible person), I quickly stopped supporting him, and I was about 15 or 16. Now I am a sophomore in college and what do you know YandereDev still isn't finished, and he has only fully-developed ONE rival out of ten.
I didn't pick up on how inappropriate things were (Minus the panty shots, i always thought it was gross, but the game took place in japan, and i think he even said that was normal in Japan or some bs, idk) until I saw videos popping up about him, which gave me a new prospective, but I had stopped watching his content regularly when I discovered those videos, and at that point I rewatched his videos about the "email" situation after watching them, and it now sounded like he was just insulting his fanbase. I was 16-17 when I had discovered Yandev and the game, and I'm now 24. I was also groomed when I was 13, so that didn't help when I entered the community, and I discovered the community through Azzman. (Ironically, another TH-camr outted for being predatory and inappropriate towards minors)

It was because of Yandere Simulator that I met you and many other interesting things and people, so it pains me to see how much more the game could be if it weren't for Yanderedev, even before this incident I had already realized that the game wasn't going anywhere, he purposely did things little by little, putting unnecessary updates just to give the illusion of progress and get people to come back to play, some channels literally stoped posting videos for months until an update came out and only then they posted a video about it just to show the changes without even playing for fun, they were stuck with the game and the popularity it brought.

I find it interesting that you released this today, as I just finished rewatching your Fixing Yansim series. Your redesign series was one of the things that convinced me to distance myself from the game: I had already been thinking, "Yeah, this Yandev guy is kind of a degenerate..." and your videos brought me to, "Yeah, no. I'm not supporting the original game in any way anymore". Even though I was never as wrapped up in the yansim fandom as a lot of other people, I still thought "wow, this could have been me" watching the video. Thank you for bringing this to people's attention, you've helped at least one minor distance herself from YandereDev!
The best thing about that is that a lot of professionals who are FUNDAMENTAL for YanSim are leaving him (Ayano VA, Taro VA, Budo VA, Cameron who's a music producer) He may not have gotten the legal consequences yet but the damage has been done and he can't recover from it. I know someone in my real life who was in a VERY similar situation to Jane. I've seen the aftermath of what happens, and this situation makes me sick to my stomach. I hope Jane is able to get the help and support they need during this time, and that they know that nothing is their fault
I'm a victim of grooming and yeah, the victim is responding in a textbook way. Your abuser tries to, either subtly or outright convincing you, that if you speak up YOU as the victim will be the one in trouble. Either just as much trouble as the groomer, or the only one actually in trouble. They will spin it however they can, acting as thought they're just "concerned" for you or find ways to prove you are in the wrong. My abuser made me think I would also go to jail because "even taking the pictures (that he asked for) was illegal" and that my parents would hate me and I'd be shunned etc etc. No doubt Alex told the victim Jane that if she tries to go forward she is actually the one more clearly in the wrong because of two party consent laws for phone conversations being recorded, and spun some lies about how he didn't even do anything and she was the aggressor and so on until she got scared she would be the one in trouble instead of him.

It took me years after getting away (I distanced myself bc a fellow victim of his attacked and harassed me) for me to realize what happened was messed up and not okay. By that point the statute of limitations would make it impossible to press charges and I also still felt guilty about letting anyone else know. Maybe another victim landed him in prison but for my own sake I’ve refused to even look for info on him. Honestly I’m just glad I got away at all.

I used to follow the yandere simulator stuff when I was 14-15 but grew out of it, when I was 19 I looked it up again out of curiosity and I just felt so off put by so many things. As a young teen I just thought the concept of a school girl running around killing people was cool, as edgy as that sounds. As a technical adult who had gotten some more life experience I saw more messed up stuff with the game. Even if he said all the characters were over 18 I couldn’t see them as that due to the school setting and uniforms. I’m so glad for my younger self being to shy to ever even comment on any of his videos, it makes me nauseous knowing I would have been easily manipulated back then and could have been a victim of something like this..

The screenshot is way, WAY out of context and makes me wonder how much research Calli puts in before putting people on blast. It's from another server where one of the mods was trying to help Jane. She posted that message after some bad actors in the server tried digging through Jane's personal life. She didn't want to risk causing her any harm so she decided to just ban all talk about her.

I feel bad for Jane and it makes me angry to see people blaming them. Like, it doesn't MATTER WHO INITIATED. I turned 20 this year. Recently a 13 year old kid reached out to me on discord (they were on the same server as I am) claiming another discord user on the same server was a pedo and groomed them. I listened to them and then gave them resources to report the person they were claiming to, sent an article about consent, told them that they shouldn't trust all this information to some random on the internet like they did to me, that they should look for a health professional, teacher or police officer to ask them for help and then blocked them. Whenever a kid approaches you, if it is for help you give them the help you can provide then block them, and if it is for anything else, you block them straight away. It is that simple. No matter how "lonely" you may be, this is unacceptable. No matter if your intentions are not malicious, you should not have any kind of friendship with a kid who is not in your family. And even if the kid is in your family, you need to know your limits.

As someone who was groomed online by someone I trusted, it really sucks. And I didn't even understand it or realize it. I was 16 when I first met my groomer. They were 21. And it wasn't until years later did I realize, holy shit I was groomed. He used me, abused me mentally then threw me away. Then he'd come back when he wanted to use me again. I really liked him too. Sadly he wasn't the only one who did that too me. There was another guy who groomed me too, same age as him. I was the youngest in the group.

The person who made said announcement has reached out to me to tell me this as well. They are not trying to defend Alex, but rather do more research for the victim. I'm not expert on human phycology so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I'd say it comes down to ego, and wanting power over a person. When someone starts becoming popular on TH-cam or twitch etc their ego starts to grow. When they constantly have people telling them how great they are and celebrating them, it can make them believe themselves to be better then other people. Like they're special, like they're above human decency. It all comes down to power. People groom minors not because they're actually attracted to them, but because they want power over someone. And with a large ego comes the want for more power. Now obviously not everyone who becomes famous will do such vile things as yandere dev, but money and fame inflate what was already there. So when a person who is egotistical and power hungry begins getting popular they think they can get away with gaining more of this power, even if it's through horrible and disgusting means.

As a social work student, this would also fall into the catagory of “mandated reporting” if Jane is a minor. Signs of abuse of any form for vulnerable populations are required to be reported to proper authority by multiple professions

Thank you for this video! I saw the live stream by CameronF305 who contacted Jane about her side of the story. That stream was frustrating to watch because the streamer keeps playing off Jane's grooming as a mistake and out-of-context jokes, blocking people who keep bringing up their concerns about Jane's safety (plus the occasional creeps trying to rile up Jane), and justified that Yandere dev just has poor boundaries and communication skills so of course he didn't know how to not be inappropriate around minors. Poor Yan dev 😢

20:33 I'm glad you said this because I'm sure Jane saw Michaela Laws', the leading VA for Yandere Sim, (now deleted, but screenshots are still on r/Osana) tweet that indirectly blamed her for being groomed. I lost all respect for Michaela when she tried defending another TH-camr for committing similar acts as Alex (idk if she walked that one back, but either way it seems she hasn't learned from that situation). Accusing children who interact with adults, no matter the intent, of being "80s band groupies" is downright disgusting.
I also find it interesting how she said she would follow suit with the other VAs and remove YS from their resumes and, while the other VAs have gone above and beyond to disassociate themselves from the project since some of them surrounded their branding around the association, her role on YS is at the top of her resume on her website close to a week after everything came out (this can change after the day I have written this, but I double-checked and it's still there as of posting).

I want to take a second to assure you that when I watched your yandere sim redesigns I found them to condemn yandere dev, while creating your own rival elimination game concept which was, frankly, far better. I was already anti-yandev at the time and I was in agreement with the videos, though when they ended I had immense respect. you did a good job, don't worry about it.

YanDev definitely has a very real, very long documented history of grooming teenage girls, it's just been buried by his fans and the flow of time. And this isn't the only case where someone has spoken up about being groomed by him. One of his victims was from even before he started making YanSim and years ago, after she realized the guy who groomed her as a teenager now had a massive platform and a fanbase of teenage girls that he might hurt, she posted a detailed account of it on Tumblr, where she explained how bad it got and presented evidence that it was YanDev. He got her ensnared in a total nightmare where she was his internet girlfriend and was doing unspeakable things for him. To this day, there's still a chance he might have CSAM of her saved somewhere. Her story makes me so so so glad his relationship with Jane was interrupted before it got even more exploitative and gross, because it could have been an absolute nightmare.
It's so frustrating to see this pattern repeating itself.
Yandere Simulator is also about grooming teenage girls. He says they're over 18, but we all know that's complete utter bullshit. They were never 18, they're at least 15 to 17, one of the rivals is a fucking pedophile herself! THAT was a red flag.

I almost feel like he groomed his entire fanbase. As someone who was a minor when I started following the development, I realize how he downplayed and normalized the gross stuff in the game. I remember taking his side in some drama, and now I see how he was trying to get people on his side
I didn't even pick up on warning signs until the lovesick controversy and/or his video discussing "goblins trying to wreck his reputation". It makes me sick knowing I even showed interest in the game.
I remember being a fan of his when I was twelve, but even at that tender age I still felt gross and icky by the panty shots, but thought that it was the only bad thing about the game, and so I brushed it aside, and merely avoided the concept of it whenever it was brought up. But when I started doing research and found out about all the terrible, incel-y, and misogynistic shit he's done(in addition, he's also a racist, homo/lesbo/transphobe, ableist, and body-shamer, he's just overall a creep and a terrible person), I quickly stopped supporting him, and I was about 15 or 16. Now I am a sophomore in college and what do you know YandereDev still isn't finished, and he has only fully-developed ONE rival out of ten.
I didn't pick up on how inappropriate things were (Minus the panty shots, i always thought it was gross, but the game took place in japan, and i think he even said that was normal in Japan or some bs, idk) until I saw videos popping up about him, which gave me a new prospective, but I had stopped watching his content regularly when I discovered those videos, and at that point I rewatched his videos about the "email" situation after watching them, and it now sounded like he was just insulting his fanbase. I was 16-17 when I had discovered Yandev and the game, and I'm now 24. I was also groomed when I was 13, so that didn't help when I entered the community, and I discovered the community through Azzman. (Ironically, another TH-camr outted for being predatory and inappropriate towards minors)
The fact that it took me 4 fucking years to finally snap out of it really proves ur point. I dk wut to think of this man anymore. It was because of Yandere Simulator that I met you and many other interesting things and people, so it pains me to see how much more the game could be if it weren't for Yanderedev, even before this incident I had already realized that the game wasn't going anywhere, he purposely did things little by little, putting unnecessary updates just to give the illusion of progress and get people to come back to play, some channels literally stoped posting videos for months until an update came out and only then they posted a video about it just to show the changes without even playing for fun, they were stuck with the game and the popularity it brought.

I find it interesting that you released this today, as I just finished rewatching your Fixing Yansim series.
Your redesign series was one of the things that convinced me to distance myself from the game: I had already been thinking, "Yeah, this Yandev guy is kind of a degenerate..." and your videos brought me to, "Yeah, no. I'm not supporting the original game in any way anymore".
Even though I was never as wrapped up in the yansim fandom as a lot of other people, I still thought "wow, this could have been me" watching the video. Thank you for bringing this to people's attention, you've helped at least one minor distance herself from YandereDev!

I know someone in my real life who was in a VERY similar situation to Jane. I've seen the aftermath of what happens, and this situation makes me sick to my stomach. I hope Jane is able to get the help and support they need during this time, and that they know that nothing is their fault
I'm a victim of grooming and yeah, the victim is responding in a textbook way. Your abuser tries to, either subtly or outright convincing you, that if you speak up YOU as the victim will be the one in trouble. Either just as much trouble as the groomer, or the only one actually in trouble. They will spin it however they can, acting as thought they're just "concerned" for you or find ways to prove you are in the wrong. My abuser made me think I would also go to jail because "even taking the pictures (that he asked for) was illegal" and that my parents would hate me and I'd be shunned etc etc. No doubt Alex told the victim Jane that if she tries to go forward she is actually the one more clearly in the wrong because of two party consent laws for phone conversations being recorded, and spun some lies about how he didn't even do anything and she was the aggressor and so on until she got scared she would be the one in trouble instead of him.
That is absolutely terrible, i am so so sorry you experienced that. I hope you're healing ok and did the abuser land in jail? because that's highly HIGHLY illegal

It took me years after getting away (I distanced myself bc a fellow victim of his attacked and harassed me) for me to realize what happened was messed up and not okay. By that point the statute of limitations would make it impossible to press charges and I also still felt guilty about letting anyone else know. Maybe another victim landed him in prison but for my own sake I’ve refused to even look for info on him. Honestly I’m just glad I got away at all.

I used to follow the yandere simulator stuff when I was 14-15 but grew out of it, when I was 19 I looked it up again out of curiosity and I just felt so off put by so many things. As a young teen I just thought the concept of a school girl running around killing people was cool, as edgy as that sounds. As a technical adult who had gotten some more life experience I saw more messed up stuff with the game. Even if he said all the characters were over 18 I couldn’t see them as that due to the school setting and uniforms.
I’m so glad for my younger self being to shy to ever even comment on any of his videos, it makes me nauseous knowing I would have been easily manipulated back then and could have been a victim of something like this..

The screenshot is way, WAY out of context and makes me wonder how much research Calli puts in before putting people on blast. It's from another server where one of the mods was trying to help Jane. She posted that message after some bad actors in the server tried digging through Jane's personal life. She didn't want to risk causing her any harm so she decided to just ban all talk about her.

I'm so happy I saw this video. I started playing the game a few months ago and wanted to try and give art back to the game and support it. I had no idea about the developer or the community or any of this and as a female minor myself I am so glad I saw this and could be turned away from a dumpster fire lile this before I got involved. I've never seen anything by this creator before but I want to thank you so much for making this.
honestly, i hope he does get the consequences. i do also hope that maybe someone actually clean and willing to work on the game would pick it up. it had potential (taking out some of the weirder aspects, like the upskirt feature) but it had a good idea, just a bad person behind it

I turned 20 this year. Recently a 13 year old kid reached out to me on discord (they were on the same server as I am) claiming another discord user on the same server was a pedo and groomed them. I listened to them and then gave them resources to report the person they were claiming to, sent an article about consent, told them that they shouldn't trust all this information to some random on the internet like they did to me, that they should look for a health professional, teacher or police officer to ask them for help and then blocked them.
Whenever a kid approaches you, if it is for help you give them the help you can provide then block them, and if it is for anything else, you block them straight away. It is that simple. No matter how "lonely" you may be, this is unacceptable. No matter if your intentions are not malicious, you should not have any kind of friendship with a kid who is not in your family. And even if the kid is in your family, you need to know your limits.

Your yandere sim rewrite series is what made me officially distance myself from the game. Even tho I’m disappointed, I am not at all surprised. I was groomed as a teen and I remember everything that I felt when my family put a stop to it. Although it was necessary, I feel bad about how public this is for the sake of the victim. As someone who was groomed online by someone I trusted, it really sucks. And I didn't even understand it or realize it. I was 16 when I first met my groomer. They were 21. And it wasn't until years later did I realize, holy shit I was groomed. He used me, abused me mentally then threw me away. Then he'd come back when he wanted to use me again. I really liked him too. Sadly he wasn't the only one who did that too me. There was another guy who groomed me too, same age as him. I was the youngest in the group.
i hope the victim gets help and recovers from this. as for yandere-dev, i feel extremely sick and disappointed in him. not only what he did was outright disgusting, but its illegal. i really hope he seeks help and takes accountablity for his actions, because if he truly does want to change, he has to acknowledge that actions have consequences and that what he did was absolutely DISGUSTING. he can keep making excuses if he wants, but it will do nothing but make him more of a fool. anything he says will NEVER justify his actions.
I was around 7 when I found out about yandere sim and yandere dev. I loved the content because I thought it was unique and cool but I wasn’t very aware of any drama that had been going on. I came and went throughout the community during the passing years getting updates every two years or so. And throughout those years, I was a pretty big fan. But a few days ago I came across this video and a few others and thought “what is this click bait or something? That can’t be right please tell me this isn’t another groomer situation-“ and surprise surprise he became the third person I used to trust when I was younger who turned out to be a groomer. Within the past three months.
i used to watching playthroughs of yandere sim and now I'm truly horrified of what he could've done to the young players, if ever to be completed and open to the public to play .

I've had the exact same thoughts about the voice actors, like, it's not as if this is all news that came out of nowhere, pretty much everyone who engaged with yandere simulator knew he was a gross human being. And yet I'd see Michaela specifically defending yandev, being like, "He's just one man, give him a break!" And chalking up any criticism directed towards yandev as only criticism towards his game, and not about his character. Like yeah, I'm glad the voice actors have decided to quit, but it seriously took them this long to realize the guys a total creep?? A paychecks a paycheck but damn man
As a former supporter and friend of... this dude, I stood with him for longer than I should, and this was the last straw that made me leave his community. It is a shame to see a game I've adored for 7 years (i started following it in 2016) be in the hands of someone like him, and I wish it could be handed over to someone sane, but alas that wont happen. 🥴

Its wild that Jane seems more mature than Dev. And that's how a lot of abusers and victims justify this type of abuse and label it as a "relationship".
