@@tomsitzman3952Ortlieb recommends adhesive frame protection on the fork with those bags. Also it looks like she didn't use the three small protection inserts that came with the packs. Ortlieb states that they are necessary to use with carbon forks.
Some things are hard to carry in packsack on a cage, as the cannot be strapped down very well (e.g. shoes, food). I'll go for it, too.

Cages are lighter but need bags or bottles and straps to be included. You have me sold on the Ortlieb bags!

I’ve got 3 bolts on my carbon fork so looking at these. However do you think it could damage the paintwork? Or the fork?
My bike is carbon as well. No, they sit away from the fork a bit. There’s like a half inch of clearance or so. No damage :)
Why worry about the paint job. It's a bicycle. It's going to get dinged if you are really interested in getting out and about.
